Chapter 136 The Abortion Drug Shattered All Her Love for Him

Darian gravely hummed a response and got out of the car, striding towards her.

Cecily stood on the steps, watching the man approach slowly. His face wore no expression, his eyes terrifyingly cold.

Cecily looked at Darian, her expression becoming somewhat dazed.

She remembered when they got their marriage certificate years ago, he had the same look—brooding, icy, irritable.
He must have really despised her at the time.

However, back then, Cecily was so immersed in her heartfelt love that she didn't notice these things.

Thinking about it now, she and Darian were doomed from the start.

As Cecily lowered her eyes, a wave of uncontrollable sorrow still welled up within.

"Let's go."

Seeing Cecily walk in without hesitation, the irritation in Darian's eyes intensified. "Do you not need to think it over?"

"Think over what?" Cecily responded with a light smile, feigning nonchalance, "Hadn't we thought everything through five years ago?"

From the moment Darian had personally coerced her into taking the abortion pills, she had thought everything through.

After leaving the civil affairs office, the two had filed for divorce. As long as the one-month cooling-off period passed, they would officially be divorced.

Cecily glanced over at Darian, whose expression had been dark throughout the entire interaction.

She didn't understand what was making him so unhappy. He should have been pleased at the idea of cutting ties with her and being free to marry the woman he truly adored.

Cecily diverted her gaze. "I'm going to head out first. Oh, and about the treatment your mother mentioned last night, do you still want to continue with it?"

"Keep it going."

"Okay." Cecily nodded and walked away.

Watching the woman leave, Darian felt a throbbing in his temples, a headache that had long been absent suddenly gripping him.

It was strange – he hadn't suffered from headaches in a long time.

Back at the company, Cecily returned to find Aurelie just stepping out of her office.

Surprised to see Cecily, Aurelie was about to call her when she walked in.

"Uh? You're here. Why did you come in so late today?"

Cecily replied, "I had to stop by the city hall."

Aurelie almost exclaimed aloud, glancing around, then quickly pulled Cecily into the office. "You went to get a divorce from Darian?"

"Yes, it's done. It should have been done a long time ago," Cecily answered, as if the matter was of little significance to her.

Aurelie paused for a moment then nodded. "Right, it's for the best. We move on and find someone new. I think Blaise is quite decent and he treats you well, don't you think?"

"Mmm, Blaise is great, but I don't think I'm worthy, and I'm not looking to start a new relationship anyway. I have Griffin and Rowan, and that's enough for me," Cecily said, flicking through files and starting to get absorbed in her work.

Aurelie shook her head in response, "Cecily, that's not okay. You're only twenty-eight; you can't seriously be planning to spend the rest of your life alone?"

Cecily became busier with her documents, "I'll think about it later. I don't want to consider those issues right now."

Aurelie sighed in resignation, "You should know your mind is occupied with kids and work. Alright, alright, you get back to work. Don't forget about the party tonight."

"Don't worry, I won't forget."

...

The party began at eight in the evening.

In a top-notch hotel, the large banquet hall was filled with the gentle strains of music. Men dressed in suits and women in elegant dresses mingled, with fine wine and lively conversations all around.

Darian entered the hall dressed in a black designer suit, a stern expression on his face, and everyone turned to look at him.

It was rare for Darian to attend such gatherings, and his presence was a surprise to many. People started to crowd around him, but they were quickly put off by the cool aura he radiated.

It was clear to everyone that Darian was not in a good mood.

Hayden and Declan waved him over.

With a mischievous smile, Hayden handed Darian a drink and asked, "Darian, didn't you say you were coming with Ophelia? Where is she?"

Darian lifted his gaze and glanced at him, a flash of irritation crossing his eyes, "Forgot."

Hayden smirked, "Forgot? Ophelia will be livid if she hears that. She's been dying to make an entrance with you, and you just forgot about her."

Meanwhile, at the entrance.

Ophelia stepped out of a car, dressed in a white fitted mermaid dress with a silver chain belt cinching her slim waist and a V-neck design showcasing her beautiful collarbone. Her curly brunette hair cascaded naturally down her back.

Her delicate face smiled sweetly, but there was a strain to her smile that evening.

She had hoped to make a grand entrance alongside Darian, to draw admiration from the crowd and assert her status, deterring any other women from trying to get close to Darian.

However, Darian hadn’t waited for her, which meant she could only make her entrance with Elysia.

Ophelia was far from thrilled.

Elysia was also dressed to the nines tonight, bedecked in a strapless pink evening gown that hugged her curves, her makeup impeccable, which was a clear sign that she had taken great care with her appearance.

However, no matter how meticulously she dressed up, she couldn't overshadow Ophelia. Ophelia casually ran a hand through her carefully styled hair and said coolly, "Let's go inside."

As she spoke, a black car slowly pulled up and Cecily stepped out, wearing a champagne-colored gown with a sleek off-the-shoulder neckline that gracefully accentuated her shoulders and neck.

Her slim waist and statuesque figure were highlighted by the simple, flowing lines of the dress, which swayed lightly as she walked.

The most striking feature, however, was her delicate face. Cecily was undoubtedly beautiful, the kind of beauty that was stunning at first glance and flawless upon closer inspection.

Cecily lifted the hem of her dress and ascended the steps. Aurelie was delayed with some matters and would arrive later, so Cecily had come ahead.

Feeling someone's gaze on her, Cecily looked up just as her eyes met with Ophelia's.

Ophelia stared at Cecily's exquisite face and the aloof and indifferent aura she exuded, making her inexplicably feel outclassed. This sparked a tingling irritation within Ophelia.

Cecily's gaze swept indifferently over her before she continued on her way into the banquet hall.
