Chapter 460 Cecily Gets Angry
Cecily rushed to the hospital, barely catching her breath, and nervously pushed the ward door open.
"Darian."
Inside, she saw Darian on the sofa with an open bottle of red wine, Hayden and Declan nearby.
He didn't have a pale face, and he wasn't foaming at the mouth or convulsing. He hadn't fainted and was clearly breathing.
"Cecily." Darian stood up immediately.
Cecily frowned. If she didn't get it now, she'd be clueless.
Taking a deep breath, she glared at him. "Darian, are you messing with me?"
"No, Cecily." Darian panicked, stepping forward to explain.
Cecily angrily shook off his hand. She had rushed over, almost making the driver run a red light, not wanting to waste a second.
And here he was, drinking with his buddies, looking relaxed.
Of course Cecily was furious.
"Darian, keep drinking." Cecily grabbed Rowan and Griffin's hands. "Let's go."
"Oh no, we've gone too far." Hayden rushed up to explain.
Cecily turned to leave and bumped into someone behind her.
"Are you okay?"
Darian frowned, pulling Cecily back from Evander's arms. "Did it hurt?"
"Let go of me, I don't want to deal with you right now." Cecily shook off Darian's hand.
She looked at the person in front of her. "Evander?" Then her gaze shifted to the middle-aged man and well-dressed lady beside him.
Cecily had met them before; they were Evander's parents, Percy and Karen. She nodded politely.
Percy smiled gently. "Cecily, we saw the news online and came to check on Darian."
Darian's eyes flickered, his expression unfriendly.
Hayden and Declan frowned. Declan whispered, "Since when did the Lockwood family get so close to Darian?"
Hayden coldly replied, "Who knows?"
While they speculated, Darian's face remained cold.
Evander glanced at Darian, then focused on Cecily. "You don't look well, what's wrong?"
Cecily forced a smile, trying to act as if nothing was wrong for Darian. "It's nothing, please come in."
She stepped back to make room at the door.
Darian said nothing, his gaze fixed on Cecily, looking for a chance to explain.
But Cecily wouldn't even look at him.
After Percy and the others sat down, they exchanged pleasantries with Darian, but he was uncooperative. Hayden and Declan kept the conversation going.
Darian either stared at Cecily, wanting to say something, or glared at Evander, who couldn't take his eyes off Cecily. Darian's gaze was filled with displeasure.
Percy and the others didn't stay long. After half an hour, they got up to leave.
Cecily stood up to see them off. They had come with good intentions to check on Darian, and Cecily felt embarrassed to sit next to him since he was acting so cold.
Evander looked at Cecily. "Were you about to leave? It's late. I'll take you and the kids home."
"Who needs you to take them home?" Darian's face turned icy, his whole demeanor changing.
Darian found it infuriating. It was bad enough that Evander had been staring at his wife the whole time, but now he wanted to take his wife and kids home? Did he think Darian was dead?
"Darian." Cecily shot him a look, signaling him to shut up, then turned to Evander. "Thanks, but no need. I have to stay with him. You all take care on your way back."
Cecily's refusal was clear. Evander wanted to say something, but Karen pulled him back, signaling him not to overstep. Evander finally gave up. "Alright then."
Cecily saw Evander and the others to the elevator, then turned to Darian, who had been following her as if he was afraid she would run away.
Once they left, Cecily dropped the act. "Rowan, Griffin, we're going home."
"Okay." Rowan and Griffin were definitely on Cecily's side. Their dad had tricked their mom, and he deserved it.
"Cecily." Darian caught up, his strong hand grabbing Cecily.
Cecily struggled to break free. "Let go of me! I'm going home."
"I was wrong."
"I don't want to hear it. I was worried sick, and you think it's fun to mess with me?" This time, Cecily was really angry.
"I'm sorry. I sent you messages, but you didn't reply. I called, but you didn't answer. I thought you were mad and didn't want to talk to me."
"So you lied about your health to trick me." Cecily's phone had died, so she hadn't received any calls.
"Let go of me." Cecily pushed hard against Darian's chest.
The culprit, Hayden, quickly ran out to explain. "Cecily, I can explain. It was my idea, it has nothing to do with Darian."
"You still want to help him? You wouldn't have dared to do it without his consent. Move aside, I'm going home. You take care of yourself."
Cecily pushed past Darian and Hayden, taking the kids into the elevator.
"Cecily." Darian was about to follow, but Cecily didn't wait for him and pressed the elevator button.
Darian sighed. When he saw the other elevator open, he quickly stepped inside.
Downstairs.
Evander and the others had just gotten into the car.
Percy looked at Evander. "If you like Cecily, you should visit her mother more often and build a good relationship with her. I'm glad you like Cecily."
Evander looked at Percy in surprise. "You didn't before."
"That was then. Back then, she was just an ordinary person. Now, she's the only daughter of the Bennett family. Everything in the Bennett family will be hers in the future. A family background like that is a good match for our Lockwood family."
Karen frowned. "Family background is all you care about. For the sake of family background, you made Landon marry Ophelia, that lunatic. Now they're fighting at home every day, making the house a mess.
"And now you want Evander to marry Cecily, a woman with two kids. With our family's status, we can marry any other noble lady. I just don't understand why you value them so much."
"What do you know? Ophelia may be crazy, but she's Tristan's only daughter. Even if Cecily has been divorced, she's still the only daughter of the Bennett family. The Flores family and the Bennett family are both well-known and prestigious families. Once they marry into our family, their family's assets will eventually become ours."
