Chapter 308 What if She's Pregnant?
"Don't touch her." Vivienne sternly reprimanded, "Bryan, don't come near her, do you hear me?"
"Vivienne, she's your daughter, and I won't harm her." Bryan felt a bit annoyed by Vivienne's concern for Cecily.
He had been chasing her for half a lifetime, and this was the first time he had witnessed her showing such concern for someone. Luckily, that person was only her daughter. If it had been a man, he would have wished for him to vanish from the face of the earth instantly.
"Even so." Vivienne grabbed Bryan's collar. "Promise me that you won’t hurt her."
Bryan lowered his gaze to the hand gripping his collar, not angry but smiling. "Alright, I promise not to hurt her."
Only then did Vivienne relent.
"But if she's not tied up, how will you see her?"
"Let me go, I won't run away. I'll see her and then come back." Vivienne said coldly.
"Vivienne, are you negotiating with me?" he asked gently.
Vivienne gritted her teeth. "Yes, I'm negotiating with you."
"Good." Bryan smiled.
Vivienne's eyes lit up, a hint of surprise on her face, as if she hadn't expected him to agree so easily.
But then he said, “I've known you for almost thirty years, and you've finally learned to reason with me. That's commendable, but I'm afraid, Vivienne, I can no longer place my trust in you.”
Vivienne's expression turned cold again, "What do I have to do for you to let me go?"
"At least apologize to Freya, Vivienne. Last time, you were in the wrong. You hit her, you should apologize to her."
Vivienne gazed at the man before her with a hint of sarcasm in her eyes. Freya was the daughter of his savior, Jennifer, and out of gratitude, he had invited both mother and daughter to live with him. Since he had no children of his own, he showered Freya with affection. Freya, being intelligent, had started calling him "Dad" from a young age, and Bryan had silently consented.
But this mother and daughter were never easy to deal with, and Jennifer saw her as a thorn in her side.
Apologize to her? Dream on!
"Get lost."
Vivienne looked out the window, refusing to communicate with him.
Bryan sighed, "Vivienne, you care for your daughter, and Jennifer cares for hers too."
Vivienne coldly smiled, her laughter full of irony.
"Bryan, do you know why I've wanted to escape from you all my life?"
"Because you can't change your nature, get lost!" Vivienne cursed harshly, feeling truly angry.
Bryan raised an eyebrow, stood up, and said with a calm tone, "When will you change your temper?"
"Change yours temper first, then we can discuss things."
Vivienne completely ignored him.
"I'm leaving now, remember to take your medicine later."
"I'm not sick."
"You are, Vivienne. And you need to take medicine to get better." He sounded like he was coaxing an unruly child.
Vivienne's fists clenched, her nails digging into her flesh. Bryan noticed and carefully pried open her fingers, massaging her palm softly. "Don't harm yourself," he urged.
Vivienne shot him a cold glance and pulled her hand away.
That's how this pervert was. In his presence, she didn't even have the right to harm herself.
Cecily planned to return to Silver Frost Capital the following day. With nothing on her agenda for the day, she packed up and decided to take a walk with Rowan, Griffin, and Vincent. Vincent had become her personal bodyguard, always trailing closely behind her.
Usually, Rowan and Griffin liked to call her "Mommy" in her ear, but now with Vincent around, there was an additional voice calling her "Sister" in her ear.
Being called by them like that, Cecily sometimes felt helpless.
After finally getting the two children acquainted with Vincent, letting them play together, Cecily found some time to call Aurelie.
Aurelie was known to be very nosy, always the first to hear any news. However, the online media reports were not always reliable, and now she was questioning Cecily about the banquet from the previous night.
Cecily calmly recounted the details to her, which left Aurelie fuming.
"So, that person really was Eliza?"
"Yes, based on her reaction, it's almost certain."
“Goodness, this is unbelievable. Has she gone mad in her quest for wealth? She doesn't want to be herself; she wants to assume your identity. It's utterly repulsive. Have you decided what to do about it?”
Cecily's eyes darkened. "I'm gathering evidence. If she wants to get rid of me, she will strike again, and she will eventually reveal her true colors."
"Let's hope it's resolved quickly, it's sickening to think about."
"Let's hope so." Cecily sighed.
"But Darian went with you, are you two living together?"
Aurelie suddenly changed the subject, and Cecily's face flushed at the memory of that night, "Yes."
"My goodness, did you two sleep together?"
Aurelie was straightforward in her questioning, and Cecily felt a lump in her throat. "That's quite a direct question."
"So did you sleep together?"
"We did."
As Cecily talked, a playful sound could be heard from the other end of the phone. "That was fast, but you already have children, so it's normal. Did you use any contraception?"
Cecily was startled, her eyes widening as she abruptly sat up from the sofa. That evening, neither she nor Darian had used any contraception. She had not taken any preventative measures afterward, and now nearly two days had passed. It was too late to take any now.
These past few days had been too busy, and if it weren't for Aurelie's reminder, she wouldn't have even remembered this.
"Cecily?"
"Aurelie, I..."
"You didn't forget, did you? What if... what if you're pregnant?"
Cecily's heart skipped a beat, her hand subconsciously resting on her abdomen.
What if she was pregnant?
They hadn't used any protection, which meant there was a fifty percent chance she could be pregnant now!
Another baby between her and Darian? She had never even considered such a thing.
Cecily was momentarily stunned.
Seeing Cecily's silence, Aurelie hurriedly reassured her, "Don't worry, don't worry. I was just speculating; it may not happen like that. Your period is due next week, so if it doesn't come, then you can start to worry.”
Cecily's heart was beating a bit faster now.
Because of Aurelie's reminder, Cecily spent the whole day feeling heavy-hearted.
Another child, something she had never thought about with Rowan and Griffin already bringing her so much joy.
