Chapter 679 Holding Her
Cecily and Darian arrived at the hospital and had a check-up. As Cecily expected, she was two months pregnant.
The fetus was very healthy. Cecily looked at the test results, and although she had already known on the way there, hearing the doctor confirm that the baby was healthy made her incredibly happy.
Handing the papers to Darian, Cecily smiled gently. "You're going to be a dad again."
Darian pushed aside his worries, looked at her gentle smile, leaned down, and kissed her lips. "Yes, congratulations on becoming a mom again."
Cecily gently stroked her belly. There was a baby again, and she still felt the wonder of it.
She caressed her belly and silently said in her heart, 'Baby, Mommy will definitely protect you this time.'
Darian bent down and picked Cecily up, holding her tightly like the most precious treasure, and walked out.
"Why are you carrying me? I'm not feeling uncomfortable now; put me down."
"Now that you're pregnant, will you still drink next time?" Darian asked her.
Cecily pursed her lips, not expecting Darian to still hold a grudge about her drinking. She sincerely promised, "I won't drink anymore."
"That's more like it," Darian replied.
Darian continued to carry her, and people around couldn't help but turn to look at them.
Cecily shrank into Darian's arms, covering her face in embarrassment, and said to Darian, "Put me down quickly; everyone is looking at us. I'm not feeling unwell, and I'm not that fragile, so I don't need to be carried."
Darian chuckled. "Didn't you ask me to carry you at home?"
"Who told you to ignore me then? If I didn't provoke you a bit, what would you do if you went out? You still have the nerve to say that. Is that how you treat a pregnant woman?"
Darian held her tighter. "Alright, I'll make it up to you."
In the car, Cecily was still being held by Darian.
Cecily smiled helplessly. "This is really unnecessary."
Darian didn't let go of her. "Sit still and don't move. It's late; lean on me and sleep for a while."
This time, Cecily obediently leaned into Darian's arms, her voice soft as she said to Darian, "Darian, you don't know how happy I am to have this child."
"I know." Darian kissed Cecily's brow.
He knew that the loss of the previous child had always been a pain in Cecily's heart. This time, having this child somewhat made up for that regret in her heart.
"I'm very happy too." Darian placed his hand on Cecily's belly, gently stroking it, "But it's too hard on you, and it makes my heart ache."
"I don't feel it's hard. I'm too happy to have a baby to feel any hardship." Cecily's voice was full of happiness.
Darian held Cecily's hand, treating it like a treasure, and kissed her palm.
A message notification sounded.
Cecily immediately took out her phone, feeling nervous and excited, hoping that Vivienne had replied to her message.
But when she opened it with full expectation, it wasn't a message from Vivienne, but from someone else.
Seeing Cecily's eyes dim, Darian felt a pang of pain in his heart.
Cecily turned off her phone and smiled bitterly. "Darian, do you think my mom saw the message I sent her?"
Darian pressed his lips together and nodded. "She will see it."
"If she saw it, why didn't she reply? Why is she ignoring me?"
"Maybe she's busy."
Cecily knew Darian was comforting her. How busy could she be to not reply to a single message for days? It was impossible.
Sometimes Cecily wanted to deceive herself into thinking she just hadn't seen it.
But after sending many messages over a long time, she couldn't even deceive herself anymore.
Cecily's mood sank, and Darian took her phone away. "Stop waiting. Look at the time, maybe Vivienne is already asleep and can't reply to your message."
"Have the people you sent to find her had any news recently?" Cecily changed the topic, suddenly thinking to ask Darian this.
This question stumped Darian. A strange look flashed in his eyes, but he quickly covered it up, and Cecily didn't notice anything.
"Not yet. Detroit is too big, and she might not even be in Detroit. It's hard to find her."
This part Darian didn't lie about. The people he sent to find Vivienne had found nothing.
The world was so big. If Vivienne intentionally didn't want to be found, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
"It's okay; we'll find her eventually." Cecily tried to comfort herself.
Darian patted Cecily's head and responded, but he couldn't bring himself to say that they would find her eventually.
Back home, after washing up, Darian carried Cecily out of the bathroom and placed her on the bed. Cecily had said Darian didn't carry her, but now he was holding her all the time.
Cecily watched as Darian took off her shoes and covered her with the blanket, tucking it up to her neck as if afraid she would catch a cold.
This time, Darian was even more nervous than during her last pregnancy, afraid she would get hurt.
Cecily's small face peeked out from under the blanket, her eyes wide open and watching Darian.
"Sleep," Darian told her.
After settling Cecily, he had some things to deal with and was about to leave when Cecily grabbed his hand, looking at him intently, "Aren't you going to sleep with me?"
"I have something to take care of; I'll be right back to accompany you."
Hearing this, Cecily nodded contentedly and closed her eyes to sleep.
Darian tucked her in and left. When he came back, the woman who had been so excited had already fallen asleep.
Darian walked over quietly, sat by the bed, and watched her. Her sleeping face was peaceful, but sometimes she frowned as if having a nightmare.
Darian reached out and gently smoothed her furrowed brow.
"Mom!" Cecily murmured softly.
Darian heard it clearly; Cecily was calling for Vivienne.
Darian felt a pang of pain in his heart, filled with helplessness. He leaned down and kissed Cecily's brow. "Cecily, don't blame me for keeping this from you."
Darian didn't want Cecily to be sad. The doctor had also advised that Cecily needed to be very careful in the first three months and avoid emotional stress.
Hearing this, Darian couldn't bring himself to say what was on his mind.
Cecily slept deeply, but she was restless in her dreams. She dreamt of Vivienne, who kept apologizing to her for some reason.
She wanted to get closer to Vivienne, but Vivienne kept moving away.
She couldn't see Vivienne's face, only hearing her apologize over and over.
Cecily was distraught, wanting to find her, but everything around her turned into mist and disappeared. She couldn't find anything.
Waking up from the dream, the sky outside was just getting light. Cecily was drenched in sweat, and her movements woke Darian beside her.
Seeing Cecily clutching her chest and gasping for breath, Darian anxiously asked, "What's wrong?"
Cecily threw herself into Darian's arms.
Darian patted Cecily's head to comfort her, "Did you have a nightmare?"
