Chapter 669 Found Wade
Cecily shrugged. "You don't believe me, so there's nothing I can do."
Cecily was at a loss for words. From their point of view, she was the enemy, so naturally, nothing she said would be credible to them.
So, she just kept quiet.
Cecily turned and walked out of the conference room.
As soon as she left, Keaen slammed the table in anger. "What kind of attitude is that? I wasn't even done talking, and she just walked out. Hunter, isn't that way too disrespectful?"
Hunter kept his head down, not saying a word, but the anger in his eyes was clear.
Even though Cecily didn't make them apologize in front of everyone, she still made them lose face today, and Hunter was not happy about it.
He didn't manage to intimidate Cecily; instead, she fought back.
Keaen kept grumbling.
"Enough!" Hunter shouted, his gaze drifting to the surveillance camera in the corner of the room. His eyes narrowed slightly; he had a feeling Vivienne was watching them.
The company had Vivienne's informants, so even if Vivienne wasn't around, she could still know everything that happened here.
With such a big incident today, Vivienne must already know, and she might even be watching through the surveillance right now.
Hunter didn't say anything more and left the conference room.
Keaen noticed the surveillance camera too, frowned, and left without another word.
Back in his office, Keaen finally let loose, slamming the table and shouting, "This is too much. Today she can point at us and scold us, and tomorrow she'll do something even worse. Hunter, we can't just let her continue like this. She showed us no respect at all in front of the executives, humiliating both of us."
Hunter sat down, lit a cigarette, and took a slow drag, his eyes narrowing as he thought.
Finally, Hunter said, "We underestimated her, thinking she was just an ordinary woman. But we forgot that she defeated Eliza and made her suffer. I heard she helped Darian deal with Josep after returning to Silver Frost Capital. Someone like her has plenty of tricks up her sleeve and is not easy to deal with."
Hunter exhaled a puff of smoke, his eyes growing even deeper.
Keaen pointed angrily at the door. "So what do we do? Let her do whatever she wants? I noticed that those people not only didn't hold a grudge against her but also realized she's not someone to be trifled with. No one will look down on her anymore. Look at her, she's so calculating. She's even inviting those executives to dinner tonight to win them over. And she has the nerve to say she doesn't want to be the heir. Only idiot would believe her words!"
Hunter stood up, walked to the window, and smoked, deep in thought. After a long while, he spoke slowly. "She's inviting those executives to dinner tonight. Call Giselle in."
Soon, Giselle walked in and asked, "Dad, you wanted to see me?"
"Cecily is inviting those executives to dinner tonight. You should go too," Hunter instructed.
Giselle had the same idea, "Do I need to do anything?"
Hunter answered, "You don't need to do anything. Just sit there and eat, and listen to what she says to those executives."
Hunter had a feeling that Cecily's dinner invitation had an ulterior motive, possibly to win them over secretly.
But if Giselle was there, Cecily wouldn't dare to be so blatant.
Giselle understood Hunter's intention and nodded, "Got it. I was thinking the same thing."
A strange look flashed in Giselle's eyes.
She also felt that Cecily's invitation to those executives had an ulterior motive. Whatever Cecily was planning, she wouldn't let her succeed.
Cecily had won this round. When Darian called, there was a hint of laughter in Cecily's voice.
Hearing her voice, Darian laughed, "It seems they couldn't do anything to you."
"Almost, a close call," Cecily said, still feeling the adrenaline. She had been pretty nervous, her palms all sweaty, but luckily, she managed to hold her ground.
"Nice job," Darian praised.
Cecily felt a little flutter of happiness at his words.
Darian then said, "How about I take you out for dinner tonight?"
Cecily remembered her plans, "Can't tonight. I promised to take the company execs out for dinner."
Darian chuckled, sounding a bit jealous, "You ditch me as soon as you get to the company."
Cecily replied, "No way, with Rowan and Griffin not around, haven't I been with you every day?"
Darian sighed dramatically, "Only when Rowan and Griffin aren't around do I get a chance."
Cecily laughed, "Alright, enough joking. I have things to do."
Darian said, "I'll book a private room at a hotel for you."
Cecily said, "Great, I haven't arranged it yet. If you do it for me, it'll save me the trouble."
Darian said, "I'll send you the address later."
"Okay," Cecily replied and hung up.
Darian was about to make the arrangements when Larkin rushed in, looking like he had urgent news.
Larkin said, "Sir, we've found Wade. Do you want to go now?"
Darian paused, his expression turning serious.
On the way to see Wade, Darian's mind was racing. He had a bad feeling about Vivienne's situation.
Finding Wade was just to confirm it.
He was afraid of the answer he might get from Wade, the one he least wanted to hear.
If something had really happened to Vivienne, he didn't know how Cecily would take it or how he would break the news to her.
To make sure Wade didn't leave, Larkin had someone keep an eye on him in a private room at a café.
Darian hesitated for a few seconds at the door, then pushed it open.
Larkin noticed Darian's hesitation and thought maybe he was also afraid of hearing bad news.
Inside, Wade heard the door and knew someone was coming. He had already made coffee and was waiting.
Darian walked over, and Wade looked up, not surprised. He gestured for Darian to sit.
Darian sat down across from Wade.
Before Darian could speak, Wade said, "Have some coffee first."
"I'm not here for coffee," Darian said, looking straight at him. "You know why I'm here."
Wade poured himself a cup of coffee.
Darian was either here about Cecily or Vivienne. Since all matters related to Cecily had been resolved, it had to be about Vivienne.
But Wade had promised not to disclose Vivienne's situation.
"You're in Detroit, and Cecily is here too?" Wade asked, trying to stay calm as he sipped his coffee.
"Yes," Darian's lips tightened, "She came to see Vivienne, but Vivienne is hiding and doesn't want to see her. She's very anxious."
Wade's hand paused as he drank his coffee, a strange look flashing in his eyes, which Darian noticed.
Something became more certain, and his worry deepened.
Wade said, "Why would Vivienne hide from Cecily? She's probably just not in Detroit. Go back to tell Cecily not to worry and not to overthink."
Wade kept drinking coffee, avoiding eye contact with Darian, a clear sign of guilt.
Darian said, "She doesn't want to overthink, but many things leave her no choice. When she overthinks, she becomes unhappy, and when she's unhappy, I feel distressed. So I'm here today to get to the bottom of Vivienne's situation. Please tell me the truth."
Darian's voice had a cold edge, his gaze fixed on Wade.
Wade pressed his lips together, sitting silently, drinking coffee to mask his emotions.
