Chapter 651 Have You Found the Person?

Larkin took off to find Wade right away.

Darian headed back to the room and flopped down next to Cecily, worry flickering in his eyes.

The next morning rolled around.

Cecily made her way downstairs to the dining room. When Desmond spotted her, he gave a quick nod and stepped aside, saying, "Morning, Cecily."

Cecily still looked a bit off, but she wasn't mad at Desmond. He was just following Vivienne's orders, after all.

"Morning," Cecily nodded back. "Desmond, sorry about yesterday."

Desmond's eyes widened in surprise. He thought Cecily was so mad she wouldn't even speak to him again. But here she was, not just saying hi but also apologizing.

Desmond was genuinely touched. He'd been up all night thinking about it. Now, he was almost teary-eyed. "Cecily, don't be. I'm just glad you're not mad at me."

Cecily gave a small smile. "Why would I be mad at you? It's not your fault. I'm just upset Vivienne didn't tell me anything."

Her face darkened at the thought, and she frowned. Darian noticed right away, grabbed her hand, and led her to the dining table. "You always overthink and frown. Aren't you worried about wrinkles? Come on, let's have breakfast."

"I don't always frown," Cecily said, her mood lifting. She smiled at Darian, "See, I'm happy now."

Darian pulled out a chair for her and sat down next to her. Breakfast was a feast, clearly showing Desmond's effort.

Cecily picked up a bowl of soup and sipped it slowly. She hadn't had much of an appetite lately, probably because of her emotions, but seeing the effort put into breakfast, she felt she should eat more.

"Rowan and Griffin called me this morning," Darian said, peeling an egg and placing it in Cecily's bowl.

"They miss you?" Cecily looked up, curious.

"They miss you," Darian chuckled. Rowan and Griffin couldn't go without Cecily, but they could definitely go without him. The first thing they asked was where Cecily was. They didn't even mention him. He found it funny. He asked why they didn't call Cecily themselves, and they said, "It's too early. We don't want to wake Mommy."

Yeah, calling at five in the morning would make them feel bad for waking Cecily, but not him.

Talking about Rowan and Griffin always softened Cecily's eyes. "I didn't plan to stay long, so I told them I'd be back today. I'll call them later."

"I already told them. They're hanging out with Aurelie today," Darian said.

Cecily nodded. Rowan and Griffin were always so thoughtful. They knew Nathaniel was still missing, and with Aurelie being pregnant, she was prone to worrying.

So, Rowan and Griffin often spent time with Aurelie, keeping her company and chatting to keep her mind off things.

After breakfast, Cecily gave Darian a serious look and blinked. Darian knew what she wanted to ask and sighed, patting her head. "We're still looking. It takes time."

Cecily knew it would take time, but she was anxious and couldn't help but ask whenever she got the chance. She had also sent people to look, but there was no news yet.

Darian thought he should find something to keep Cecily busy so she wouldn't keep worrying. Just as he was thinking this, Desmond approached Cecily hesitantly and said, "Cecily, before Vivienne went on vacation, she left me with one more task."

"What task?" Cecily's eyes lit up, looking at Desmond expectantly. "Tell me."

Desmond replied, "Vivienne instructed me to go to Silver Frost Capital to bring you back and take you to learn about the Bennett family's business."

So, even if Cecily hadn't come back this time, Desmond would have gone to Silver Frost Capital to find her.

Cecily blinked, waiting for Desmond to continue. "That's it?"

"Yes," Desmond replied.

Hearing this, Cecily's heart sank again. She smiled bitterly. "Vivienne goes on vacation and then asks you to take me to learn about the Bennett family's business. Desmond, it feels strange. It's like she's never coming back and wants me to take over the Bennett family."

It was a weird feeling. After hearing Desmond's words, this possibility popped into Cecily's mind. She hated this thought, so she shook her head, refusing to dwell on it.

Desmond explained, "Cecily, you're overthinking. You're Vivienne's only daughter. It's about time you got involved in the Bennett family's business. But you've been busy in Silver Frost Capital, so Vivienne kept postponing it. Now that you have some free time, it's the perfect moment."

Desmond's reasoning made sense. But the biggest flaw in this whole thing was that such an important task should have been handled by Vivienne herself. How could she go on vacation and leave it to Desmond?

Seeing the obvious flaw, Cecily glanced at Desmond but didn't say anything more. She got up from the sofa, "Since it's already arranged, let's go."
