Chapter 620: The New Creditor
The second Lillian laid eyes on Aurelie, her face twisted with rage. "Aurelie, you bitch! You killed Nathaniel, and you still have the guts to show up here?"
Aurelie had no clue why Lillian thought Nathaniel was dead, but she wasn't about to explain herself. She had a score to settle.
"Here's five million bucks, a quarter of what Joshua owes your family. I'm only paying my share. The rest? You can chase down Barbara and the others for it. I'm out." Aurelie slapped the check on the table.
Lillian snatched up the check, gave it a quick look, and sneered. "And what about the other eighteen million? Who's covering that? Did Nathaniel pay with his life?"
She stormed up to Aurelie and grabbed her collar. "Aurelie, you killed Nathaniel, and now you have the nerve to come here and say this to me?"
Aurelie frowned and shot a look at Cecily.
Why did Lillian think Nathaniel was dead?
Cecily gave her a gentle tug, signaling her to hold off on explaining and figure things out first.
Aurelie shoved Lillian's hand away. "That's not my problem. I'm here to tell you that from now on, you can't use the twenty million to threaten me. I've paid my share, and I'm done with this."
Lillian laughed out loud. "Don't worry, I won't let you off. I'll only come after you for this debt."
"If you keep being unreasonable, we won't stand for it. Try us," Cecily chimed in.
With the money handed over, they had no intention of sticking around.
Cecily said, "Let's bounce."
Lillian looked at the check and laughed mockingly.
'Do they think it is over just because they paid up?No way!'
As they left Lewis Manor, Aurelie turned to Cecily, puzzled. "Why does she think Nathaniel is dead?"
"I'm not sure, but she probably knows you were taken by the casino folks. As for why she thinks Nathaniel is dead, she might have had someone watching you. You should go back and tell Nathaniel about this," Cecily replied.
"Okay," Aurelie nodded.
Once in the car, Cecily got a phone call.
A few days ago, Barbara and the others tried to escape from Silver Frost Capital and hide, but Cecily had paid so much money for them that she couldn't just let them run away.
She was now their new creditor, so Cecily had people stop them at the airport.
Today, they tried to escape again and got caught. The bodyguard called to ask Cecily if she wanted to come over.
Cecily agreed and went with Aurelie.
At the door, Aurelie looked at the house. She hadn't been back here in so long that she almost forgot it was once her home.
Pushing the door open, they saw Barbara, John, and Nicole huddled together on the sofa, with Cecily's bodyguards watching them closely.
Seeing Aurelie and Cecily, Barbara stood up and demanded, "Why are you keeping us here? Aurelie, you ran away and hid for over a week, and now we can't run too?"
Cecily raised an eyebrow, "Because you owe me money. Where do you think you're going?"
"We don't owe you any money," Nicole said, standing up with Barbara.
"You owe the casino, and I paid it off for you. Now I'm your new creditor. There are four of you, which means each of you owes me four and a half million dollars. Get the money ready, I'll be coming to collect every day," Cecily said calmly.
"What? The debt is paid off?" Barbara's eyes darted around. She immediately played the rogue, "We didn't ask you to pay it off for us. Since the debt is paid, it has nothing to do with us. If you want money, go ask Aurelie."
Cecily knew they were trying to play the same old rogue tricks. To deal with such behavior, she had to be even more unreasonable.
"So you don't plan to pay? Fine, then we'll wait it out. I can tell you clearly, I'll only come after you. If you don't pay, I'll make sure you can't be easy in Silver Frost Capital and can't leave either. Look forward to your upcoming life." Cecily smiled lightly. It was a simple smile, but it sent chills down their spines.
They knew Cecily had the power to make it happen.
Barbara swallowed hard, "Don't go too far. If you do anything to us, we'll call the police. We have no money, and you won't get a penny from us."
"Yeah, we don't have a penny. If you want money, you won't get it. Leave our house now, or we'll call the police," Nicole added.
Indeed, the whole family was equally shameless.
Cecily chuckled, "Do I look easy to bully? If the casino people were here to collect the debt, would you dare say this? Or do you think I don't have their methods?"
"What do you want? If you dare touch us, we'll call the police," Barbara said, still defiant.
"That's too violent. I don't like using violence," Cecily smiled.
Making them unable to stay here was too easy and didn't require violence.
"I'm just here to inform you. Aurelie, let's go." Cecily took Aurelie and was about to leave.
Barbara knew Cecily meant what she said. She was furious and rushed forward, "I'm telling you, don't go too far. So what if you have money?"
Cecily stopped. The words amused her.
Compared to what they did to Aurelie, Cecily was being too gentle.
First, they had pinned Aurelie down at her doorstep, stripping her clothes to threaten and humiliate her.
Then they staged a suicide attempt to force Aurelie to compromise. When that failed, they constantly played the victim online, smearing Aurelie, causing her to endure cyberbullying for days while they profited from the attention and live streams.
They even brought casino people to corner Aurelie at her home, repeatedly trying to harm her.
One incident after another.
Comparing to them, Cecily was nothing.
