Chapter 693 She is Ms. Bennett

Giselle's eyes flashed with a trace of malice and anger. She gritted her teeth and spat out, "Cecily, don't push it."

"Push it? Didn't you say you wanted me to meet everyone? Well, here I am. Why don't you introduce me to everyone?" Cecily's voice was calm but loud enough for everyone around to hear.

At this moment, everyone was watching them. Giselle had no choice but to introduce her.

She took a deep breath, forced a smile, and loudly said to everyone, "Let me introduce my cousin, Cecily, Vivienne's daughter, and the eldest daughter of the Bennett family."

As soon as she said this, the murmurs around them instantly quieted down.

"She's Ms. Bennett?"

"Is there a mistake? How could she be Ms. Bennett? Ms. Bennett attending the party with a fake invitation. That's absurd."

"Exactly, how could it be? Miss Bennett must be mistaken."

The most shocked person was Imogen. She stared at Cecily, then at Giselle, "Giselle, what did you say? You said she's Ms. Bennett? How is that possible!"

Giselle forced a smile and nodded.

Imogen's mouth twitched, and she stared at Cecily with an expression that could only be described as terrified.

"What is going on? Giselle, what kind of joke is this? Ms. Bennett forging a fake invitation to sneak into the party? That's impossible, right? You're joking, aren't you?"

Who could believe that Cecily would attend the party with a fake invitation?

Under everyone's gaze, Giselle had no choice but to continue, "I'm not making this up; she is Ms. Bennett."

"Then why didn't you say so earlier?" Imogen's eyes widened.

She had been giving Cecily a hard time for so long, and Giselle had been there the whole time without saying a word.

Giselle glared at Imogen. "I didn't see Cecily earlier. When I arrived, you were all gathered here, and I didn't notice."

Obviously, Giselle's explanation was unreasonable. Everyone's attention had been on Cecily and her group, who were standing in the middle.

Imogen also realized that Giselle had deliberately kept quiet, but after being glared at, she didn't dare to question Giselle further.

She changed the topic. "Then how do you explain the fake invitation?"

Cecily also wanted to know the answer to this question.

She looked at Giselle. "The invitation was given to me by you, Giselle. I also want to know what this fake invitation means."

Giselle was on the verge of breaking down. She just wanted to embarrass Cecily, not expecting so many people to be watching. Now the situation was out of her control, and Cecily was pressing her relentlessly.

Giselle's face turned ugly. "I don't know why the invitation is fake. It was given to me by someone from the Vasquez family to pass on to you. I don't know what happened. Cecily, are you suggesting that I tampered with the invitation?"

"Who knows," Cecily raised an eyebrow.

Giselle bit her lip and looked at the people from the Vasquez family. They also realized something was wrong. The invitations they sent out couldn't be fake, so the only possibility was that someone had swapped it.

It was quite clear who that someone was.

But they couldn't say it out loud at this moment. The person from the Vasquez family was smart and immediately asked a nearby staff member, "Where is that invitation?"

The staff member pointed to a nearby trash can. "Ms. Bennett just threw it away."

The person from the Vasquez family quickly retrieved it, pretended to examine it, and loudly declared, "It's a mistake. You fool, can't you tell if an invitation is real or fake? This invitation is real."

The staff member was bewildered. "But it clearly..."

The person wanted to say more but was silenced by a glare.

The person from the Vasquez family approached Cecily and respectfully said, "Ms. Bennett, we are deeply sorry. It was a mistake by our staff that caused this misunderstanding. I have checked the invitation, and it is indeed real. We truly apologize."

Cecily saw that this person was quite shrewd, not wanting to offend anyone.

"Everyone, please, let's drop this matter. Come on in." The person from the Vasquez family was trying to mediate. Since he had said so, Cecily couldn't say much more and nodded.

The manager quickly chimed in, "It was all a misunderstanding. Everyone, please come inside. Ms. Bennett, please come inside."

"Let's go," Cecily and her group walked inside without looking at Giselle again.

In the shadows, Bryan watched and then turned to leave.

Sam, seeing Bryan clearly wanting to help Cecily but sending someone else instead, asked in confusion, "Mr. Whitaker, why didn't you help Mrs. Fitzgerald yourself?"

Bryan smiled bitterly. "She doesn't want to see me."

Seeing Bryan's desolate expression, Sam felt a bit sad.

These past few days, Bryan had been tirelessly searching for Vivienne, looking like a walking corpse. In just a few days, he had grown a lot of gray hair, looking much older.

After Cecily went inside, Giselle was still standing there, clenching her fists. As the crowd dispersed, only Cecilia and Imogen remained by her side.

Imogen, thinking about what she had just said, felt a sense of despair. "It's over. Did I just offend Cecily? Will she retaliate against me later?"

Imogen regretted it deeply. She knew almost all the elite families in Detroit. When she saw Cecily and her group, they looked unfamiliar and dressed so low-key that she thought they were from some insignificant family and didn't take them seriously.

When she heard the staff say her invitation was fake, she felt even more disdainful and mocked them a bit, not expecting it to cause such a big problem.

Thinking about the things she had just said, Imogen was panicking.

"Giselle, I didn't mean to say those things. What should I do? Please Help me." Imogen anxiously grabbed Giselle's arm.
