Chapter 390 The Rival Arrives, Disgust Follows
"Yes, I need it."
Last night, his mind was troubled, unable to settle on anything, so he checked the surveillance to understand the events of the previous night.
It was indeed Freya who provoked Cecily, attempting to slander her first.
"Alright, then have someone send it to me," Cecily said. She originally didn't want to dwell on the matter, but since Darian insisted, she figured there was no harm in keeping the video.
"Okay." Darian continued to press the ice pack against her, saying calmly, "I will dismiss her. There's no need to keep her around."
Cecily leaned back and smiled lightly. "But she's your beautiful secretary. How could you just fire her? Don't fire her, let her cling to you,and coquettishly call you 'Darian.'"
Cecily mimicked a coquettish tone sarcastically.
Darian looked up at her.
Cecily was momentarily stunned by his deep gaze.
'No way, is he angry?' Cecily thought to herself.
She had forgotten that he wasn't the same Darian as before. To him now, Cecily was just a stranger he had known for less than two days.
Cecily smirked and continued fearlessly, "You're not mad, are you? That would be too petty."
Darian chuckled softly. Freya did act that way when she wasn't in the office, but he didn't care about her, nor did he care about her little actions.
He was indifferent.
But now, hearing Cecily call him that, he inexplicably found the term pleasing.
"Say it again."
"Huh?"
"Alright, Darian?"
Cecily's soft voice made the atmosphere between them even more ambiguous.
"From now on, call me that in this tone."
Cecily's mouth twitched. "You like that?"
Darian chuckled. "I like it when you call me that."
Cecily playfully protested. "No, it's too cheesy."
"How did you address me before?" Darian asked, a hint of anticipation in his eyes.
"I just called you by your name."
Darian raised an eyebrow. "Just that?"
"What else do you want, for me to call you like Freya does?"
A smile flickered in Darian's eyes. "If it's you, I might consider accepting it."
Cecily refused. Calling him that every day would be too cheesy.
With dinner still some time away, Cecily invited Darian to stay and then go back together. She naturally placed her foot on Darian's leg, and he let her, occasionally pressing the ice pack against her.
They were very quiet, the atmosphere strangely warm.
Between them, it felt like an old married couple.
Cecily ate fruit quietly, watching Darian.
Darian noticed the curiosity in her eyes.
"What are you thinking about?"
Cecily swallowed the strawberry in her mouth and said, "I'm wondering why. If you've forgotten me, you're suddenly so good to me. To you now, you don't know me at all."
Darian chuckled softly. He didn't know her now, but he knew his own nature. If he hadn't loved her deeply, he wouldn't have given everything to her.
His previous actions showed that he loved her very much.
Cecily lowered her eyes, a slight smile playing on her lips as she leaned closer to Darian. "Why don't you answer me?"
"Because I know I loved you before."
Cecily was momentarily stunned, her heart unexpectedly struck by his words, beating rapidly.
She immediately pulled her head back.
However, in the next second, Darian wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her onto his lap. His warm lips brushed against her earlobe, sending a shiver through her.
"Is this answer satisfactory?"
Cecily coughed lightly, smiling awkwardly. "Yes."
Darian leaned closer, his kiss about to land when a light cough sounded from somewhere.
Cecily instantly pushed Darian away and stood up, seeing Vivienne walk out of the kitchen.
"Mom, is dinner ready?"
Vivienne glanced at Darian. Today's incident with Cecily's injury was partly related to Darian. Although he had lost his memory, that was no excuse for Vivienne.
"Darian, this is my mother."
Darian had already stood up politely, nodding slightly to Vivienne. "Hello, Mrs. Vivienne."
Vivienne walked over, helping Cecily to her side, her face stern. "Come eat with me."
Cecily nodded obediently. "Alright, Darian, let's eat."
"Did I call him?"
Cecily looked at Vivienne with a puzzled expression and asked, "Mom?"
Vivienne's face was cold.
Cecily frantically blinked at Aurelie, Rowan, and Griffin.
They understood immediately and stepped forward.
Aurelie quickly took Vivienne's arm, pulling her towards the dining room. "Mrs. Vivienne, come eat before the food gets cold."
Vivienne, being pulled by the three, glanced back at Cecily. "You're staying here tonight. Rowan and Griffin are staying too. You're not going back with him. Do you hear me?"
Vivienne's icy tone made Cecily's eyelashes tremble.
Cecily glanced at Darian, who was now disliked by her mother, and lightly tugged at her lips. "Poor thing, no dinner for you."
Darian walked over to support Cecily, who was standing on one leg. "It's okay. I don't mind it. Let's eat."
Cecily was amused by Darian's words.
Vivienne wouldn't actually prevent Darian from eating, but she was serious about not letting Cecily go back with him.
After dinner, more guests arrived. Hearing the noise, everyone looked towards the door.
There stood a tall, handsome man, speaking with the servant.
The servant was about to report when Cecily saw him. "Evander."
Evander held a large bouquet of roses, followed by someone carrying a pile of exquisitely wrapped gift boxes, and walked in.
He immediately saw Cecily, glanced at Darian standing beside her, and ignored him, walking straight to Cecily. "These are for you."
Cecily, her arms suddenly filled with roses, blinked and asked, "Did you put a tracker on me?"
'No, wait.'
Cecily looked at Aurelie, puzzled.
Aurelie raised her hands and said, "I'm innocent."
"When you called Aurelie at noon, I happened to be at your office."
Vivienne walked over and asked, "And who might this be?"
Evander introduced himself to Vivienne, "Aunt Vivienne, my name is Evander. I apologize for visiting so late. I brought some small gifts, and I hope you like them."
Vivienne glanced at Cecily, a look of understanding flashing across her indifferent face. "Thank you. Are you a friend of Cecily's?"
Evander nodded and answered, "Yes, I've known Cecily since high school."
Evander and Vivienne got along well; it was clear Vivienne liked Evander.
Darian, looking at the roses in Cecily's arms, his expression darkened. Without hesitation, he took the flowers and shoved them back into Evander's arms.
Then he pulled Cecily into his embrace, his cold lips uttering. "She's mine."
Aurelie, who was drinking water, choked.
Evander raised an eyebrow, smiling faintly. "Didn't you forget her? Who told you she's yours? Besides, you're divorced. She has nothing to do with you."
As soon as he finished speaking, Cecily felt a chill sweep across her face.
"Our relationship is for me to decide."
"Why?"
"Because I am Darian."
Evander sneered. "Shameless."
Seeing the situation deteriorate, Cecily jumped in between them. "Stop. I'm not an object. I'm a person. Guests are guests. Let's all sit in the living room."
"What happened to your leg?"
"I twisted it accidentally. It's fine now." Cecily hopped towards the couch, and Darian, frowning, stepped forward and scooped her up.
Vivienne watched from behind, helplessly looking away. A servant approached her, whispering, "Mrs. Collins, Mr. Collins is here."
"I don't want to see him."
"But..."
Bryan barged in directly. Vivienne's gaze turned cold as she looked towards the door, where Jennifer and Freya also appeared.
Vivienne clenched her fists.
Bryan walked over and grabbed Vivienne's hand.
Vivienne shook him off. "What are you doing?"
"We need to talk, alone."
"Alone?" Vivienne sneered, looking at Jennifer and Freya behind him.
They were truly inseparable.
Jennifer, with red-rimmed eyes, stepped forward, looking like she had just cried. "Vivienne, we came to explain what happened at noon and to say goodbye. We're planning to leave. Freya and I don't want to see you two arguing because of us anymore. Vivienne, don't divorce Bryan. We'll leave. I'll take Freya and never bother you again."
