Chapter 437 Are You Satisfied Now?

A scream cut through the air, and soon, everyone gathered around.

Some called for a doctor, while others gossiped about what happened. The smell of blood filled the air, giving everyone chills.

"Cecily, what's going on?" Vivienne asked over the phone.

Cecily snapped out of her shock and looked ahead. "Mom, someone jumped off the building."

Vivienne paused for a moment, not surprised. She seemed to know something. "Then come home quickly. Stay out of it."

Doctors and nurses rushed out since it happened right at the hospital entrance. The jumper was put on a stretcher, covered in blood.

The smell made Cecily frown. She looked at the person on the stretcher, eyes closed and face bloody.

She recognized her immediately. It was Jennifer!

Bryan heard people talking about someone jumping off a building. His heart sank. As he stepped out of the elevator, he saw the crowd and the stretcher.

Bryan clenched his fists, trying to see who it was.

He stiffened, reached out, and brushed the hair from the person's face, revealing Jennifer's blood-covered face.

His hand shook, unable to believe it.

He tried to speak, but nothing came out.

The crowd kept talking, and Bryan's eyes landed on Cecily.

Jennifer was taken away, and the crowd dispersed, leaving it quiet.

Bryan stared at Cecily. "Are you happy now?"

Cecily pressed her lips together.

Bryan felt guilty; he was too late.

If he had noticed Jennifer's behavior earlier, this wouldn't have happened.

Vivienne heard Bryan's question over the phone. She told Cecily, "Come home."

Then she hung up, and Bryan's phone rang immediately.

Bryan looked at his phone, held it for a while, then answered, his voice low. "Vivienne, Jennifer is dead. Are you happy now?"

Vivienne's tone was cold, with a hint of sarcasm. "Happy? No, I'm not."

Bryan took a deep breath. "When did you become so heartless?"

Vivienne almost laughed.

Turns out she had been too easygoing all along, so he never saw her clearly.

"Bryan, Cecily is my only daughter. Jennifer left her no choice."

"Either Jennifer or her daughter, so that's it." Bryan laughed bitterly. "You threatened her with her daughter. If she didn't die, Freya would. Vivienne, what a move."

"Compared to her, I'm still lacking."

"So now that she's dead, will you let Freya go?"

Vivienne listened to Bryan's cold voice, paused for a few seconds, then said, "That's not up to me."

Vivienne believed this wasn't over yet.

She hung up, and Bryan stood there gripping his phone tightly, alone for a long time.

Cecily got home to find Vivienne and Aurelie in the living room.

"Cecily, you're back." Aurelie rushed over, worried. "Are you okay?"

Cecily shook her head slightly.

"Mom."

"Come sit."

Cecily glanced upstairs. "Are Rowan and Griffin back?"

"I had someone bring them back. They're upstairs sleeping."

Cecily nodded and sat next to Vivienne.

"Are you scared?" Vivienne asked.

"Not scared, just tired from everything lately."

"If you're tired, rest more. I'll take care of the kids tonight. You go upstairs and rest," Vivienne said gently.

"Yes, Cecily, don't overthink. I'll stay with you tonight. Come on." Aurelie helped Cecily up. "Goodnight, Aunt Vivienne."

"Go on."

Halfway up the stairs, Cecily looked back at Vivienne.

"Mom, did tonight's events affect your relationship with Bryan?"

Vivienne gave a faint, indifferent smile. "Our relationship was already bad. A little worse won't make a difference. Go rest."

Cecily nodded and went upstairs with Aurelie.

After washing up, Cecily and Aurelie lay on the bed. Aurelie propped her chin up, looking at Cecily.

"Cecily?"

Cecily responded.

"Are you still thinking about what happened at the hospital? Aunt Vivienne told me. Jennifer got what she deserved. She should have expected this when she tried to harm you," Aurelie said indignantly.

If Jennifer and Freya hadn't tried to assassinate Cecily first, they wouldn't have ended up like this. It was all deserved.

"I'm thinking that with Jennifer dead, there will always be a rift between my mom and Bryan. If they don't divorce, they'll keep tormenting each other."

"And Jennifer was smart. Even if she wanted to die, she wouldn't do it in vain."
