Chapter 174 She was Done for

Larkin also looked at Griffin in admiration.

Griffin looked at Walter and straightforwardly said, "You just mentioned that the remittance was through anonymous accounts. Bring up the details of the remittance."

Walter wanted to say something in refusal, but a gun was pointed directly at his head by Larkin. Larkin said, "Mr. Walter, we have already given you enough respect. If you want to leave the place, you better think about it clearly. Besides, the passwords have been cracked, and it's just a matter of time before we find the remittance records inside."

Walter knew that they were not just trying to scare him; they would actually do it.

Walter gritted his teeth and reluctantly pulled up the records.

Darian glanced at the little guy sitting next to him playing with a computer and asked, "Can you find it?"

"Well, this will take some time," Griffin said as he started typing on the keyboard.

Half an hour later, Griffin handed the computer to Darian and said, "Here you go."

Darian took a look and saw that the account name of the person who made the remittance was Elysia.

Elysia!

Darian narrowed his eyes.

"Mr. Fitzgerald, this Elysia is Miss Cecily's sister and has a close relationship with Miss Ophelia," Larkin reminded him.

Darian knew that, of course.

He also knew that Elysia had assisted Ophelia many times.

A chilly feeling flashed through Darian's eyes as he asked, "So what do you think?"

Larkin lowered his gaze and simply said, "A scapegoat."

"Hmm."

Finding Elysia was essentially the same as finding Ophelia.

Elysia was just a scapegoat for Ophelia.

"Mr. Fitzgerald, I will take people and bring this culprit back," Larkin said.

Darian's pitch-black eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "No need. Let's keep them for now."

Larkin understood that if Darian had said to keep them for now, there must have been a reason, so he didn't say anything more.

Darian's phone rang, and he took it out to answer the call.

I'm not sure what the other person said, but a glimmer of light flashed in Darian's eyes. "Understood."

Darian ended the call and looked down at Griffin. "Rowan is awake."

Griffin's eyes lit up, his expression filled with joy. "Really? That's great! Let's go to the hospital to see my brother."

"Okay."

Darian took Griffin to the hospital, leaving the rest to Larkin.

At the hospital, Cecily had just come out of the ward and saw Darian bringing Griffin over.

Darian held Griffin's small hand, a pair of father and son by all appearances.

Cecily, watching this scene, couldn't hide her bitterness.

"Is the child awake?" Darian asked softly, a rare gentleness in his voice.

"Yes," Cecily nodded, biting her lip lightly.

"I'll go check on my brother," Griffin said excitedly.

"Go ahead, but be quiet. Your brother still needs rest," Cecily reminded him, patting Griffin's head.

"Okay, Mommy, Griffin will be very quiet," he assured her.

Darian watched Griffin run inside, then turned his gaze back to Cecily. "Do you have something to say?"

"Yes," Cecily looked at Darian's tired expression and stubble on his chin. She thought about how he had been out all these days, even having his work brought to him by Larkin. "You've been working hard lately, thank you."

"Rowan is also my child. It's only natural," Darian smiled lightly.

Cecily chuckled softly, "When do you plan to do the paternity test?"

Darian furrowed his brow slightly. With his worries about Rowan's safety and finding the killer, he had neglected to arrange for the paternity test.

"We can do it soon," he replied.

"Good," Cecily nodded. "As soon as possible, and keep it a secret."

Darian knew it was best for as few people as possible to know about this matter. "Understood."

For the first time, the two of them calmly discussed this issue. Perhaps it was Cecily's sincere gaze, but Darian couldn't help feeling a strange anticipation. He wondered if the previous two paternity tests had really been wrong. Were these two children truly his?

If so, what happened that night?

The person lying beside him that night was clearly Ophelia, and Cecily came out from another room.

Various thoughts jumbled in Darian's mind, and he frowned. The man who had been intimate with Cecily that night had disappeared without a trace.

"What are you thinking about?" Cecily asked, seeing the crease on Darian's forehead.

"Nothing," Darian's voice sank as he turned and walked into Rowan's hospital room.

...

Darian arranged for his and Griffin's blood samples, as well as the necessary materials for the paternity test, to be extracted and personally sent to the testing center by Larkin. He also had someone keep an eye on it until the results came out.

Paternity test results usually take three days.

The Flores family received the news, and Tabitha's expression quickly changed when she hurriedly arrived at Ophelia's room.

"Ophelia, something happened," Tabitha exclaimed.

Seeing Tabitha's urgency, Ophelia immediately sat up from her hospital bed. "Mom, slow down and tell me, what happened?"

"Darian wants to do a paternity test with that child, and he has already sent the samples to the testing center."

"What?" Ophelia's heart skipped a beat, and she stared at Tabitha with widened eyes. "Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on them?"

"We had people watching, but we didn't expect him to be this cautious. He had someone watching him the entire time, so we didn't even have a chance to switch the samples," Tabitha anxiously expressed.

God knew how many things would be implicated if Darian discovered this secret.

Ophelia looked terrified, pushed aside the blanket, and tried to get out of bed, but her injured leg caused her pain when she took a step, making her fall back onto the bed.

"Ophelia?" Tabitha quickly rushed over to support her.

Ophelia tightly held onto Tabitha's hand, her body trembling heavily. "Mom, what do I do? Once Darian finds out that Cecily's child is his, he will know that I've been lying to him. He will know that the child in my womb all those years ago wasn't his. He will reopen the investigation into what happened back then, and once that investigation starts, it will bring up a lot of things."

Once the investigation began, every single thing from back then, including her framing Cecily for hiring someone to kill her unborn child, will be re-examined.

Not to mention the events of the past few days.

If it was discovered, she was done for!
