Chapter 267 Come back to live with the Fitzgerald family.
Actually, Desmond didn't fully trust this "Cecily", but the Bennett family did need an heir to stabilize the external rumors. Vivienne had been gone for so many years, and everyone said that the Bennett family had fallen into a woman's hands, leaving no heir available. People outside were all waiting to see their downfall.
Now, the young lady of the Bennett family had returned. Although her authenticity was still in question, her face alone could silence the whispers.
Desmond sighed. There was no other choice for now.
"Well, Miss, you must be tired. Go and rest for now. Later, I will take you to meet the others at the Bennett family."
Eliza nodded slightly. "Alright."
Eliza took Matilda and Raphael to her room. Liora and Elysia were about to follow, but Eliza stopped them with a cold gaze.
"We have something to discuss. You two don't need to come in."
Liora and Elysia hesitated, and Raphael said, "You two wait outside."
Liora gritted her teeth and reluctantly took Elysia away.
"Mom, why can't we listen?" Elysia pouted.
"Cecily has always been against us. I never expected her to have such good luck, becoming the young lady of the Bennett family. From now on, Grandma will favor her even more, and so will Dad. What should we do, Mom?"
Liora sneered, "Do you really think that the one staying here is the real Cecily?"
"It's not?" Elysia covered her mouth. "She's a fake?"
Liora gave Elysia a confident look and said, "I heard a long time ago that your father and grandmother conspired. They are very ambitious. I'm not surprised at all. Raphael only has you and Cecily as daughters. He doesn't care about Cecily, and he doesn't even mind if you go to jail. Now we find out there's another daughter, and she's even more capable than we thought."
Elysia clenched her teeth. "What should we do? Why are they all so lucky? A woman who had plastic surgery can even become the young lady of the Bennett family. If I had known, I would have had plastic surgery too."
Liora reached out and tapped Elysia's head. "What are you thinking? The Bennett family is not so easily fooled. Don't cause trouble for me, or you might end up in jail again."
"I understand, but Mom, who is this woman who had plastic surgery?" Elysia asked.
Liora's eyes shifted. "I'm not sure about that, and I don't know which mistress's child Raphael has claimed. How can a woman like her think she can become the young lady of the Bennett family? I bet she'll be exposed one day."
"But what should we do? Now Dad and Grandma have put all their focus on her. Where do we fit in?" Elysia asked.
"There will be a way. The conflict between her and the real Cecily is not over yet. Just wait and see," Liora replied.
In the room, Matilda looked at Eliza and said, "Eliza."
Eliza's eyes turned cold.
Matilda immediately changed her address. "No, Cecily."
"Grandma, you must remember that I can only be called Cecily here. Don't make a mistake," Eliza warned with a chilling gaze.
Matilda nodded quickly. "Yes, we remember, Cecily. Now that you have successfully entered the Bennett family, what should we do next? Have the elders of the Bennett family completely trusted you?"
Eliza sneered. "They don't fully trust me, but there is no other way to prove that Cecily is real or that I am fake. The Bennett family is in urgent need of an heir to come back and show the world, just to stabilize the situation."
Eliza walked to the window, her eyes landing on the view outside. From this angle, she could see the entire gate of the Bennett family.
The Bennett family was juicy prey, coveted by outsiders and even other branches of the Bennett family.
Securing this prize would take time and effort.
At least she couldn't let Cecily reappear and trip her up.
Back to Stellaris Bay.
Cecily sat in the car, resting her head on her hand, her beautiful eyes fixed in contemplation.
Darian sat beside her, glancing at her. "Still thinking about the Bennett family?"
Cecily heard his voice and snapped out of her reverie, looking at Darian. "That woman who had plastic surgery is Raphael's biological daughter."
Darian raised an eyebrow. "So, that means you are not?"
Cecily nodded.
Darian chuckled softly. "Then you should celebrate."
"What?"
"Completely getting rid of the Watson family. Shouldn't you celebrate that?"
Cecily listened to Darian's words and a faint smile appeared on her lips. "Yes, I should celebrate."
To have had such a family was a sorrow for her; now she was free from them; shouldn't she celebrate?
But...
Cecily pursed her lips and lowered her gaze.
It was supposed to make her happy, but she couldn't find happiness.
She thought she still had a grandmother who cared for her, but now she realized that her grandmother's love was also fake.
She couldn't find her mother and didn't even know who her father was.
Cecily smiled bitterly and looked out the window, watching the passing scenery. Suddenly, she sensed something was wrong and turned to Darian.
"Where are you taking me?"
"To the Fitzgerald family," Darian replied without feeling anything was amiss. "From now on, you will live with the Fitzgerald family."
Cecily immediately refused. "No, I don't want to. Take me back. Why would I live at your house?"
"Do you want to experience that dangerous situation again?" Darian looked at her and asked, "Are you not afraid of living alone? The person who wants to take your place is still watching you, hoping for your immediate demise. She wants to completely replace you. Are you still planning to live alone?"
"I can find another place to live!" Cecily insisted.
"What if someone finds you again?" Darian frowned. "Will you move to another place again?"
Cecily bit her lip. "But I..."
"No buts. Besides, don't you want to live with the children?" Darian asked seriously.
Cecily hesitated for a moment. "If you take me back now, won'tOwen be furious?"
Darian's eyes gleamed. "Don't worry about him."
"But I am still a suspect in harming your mother. Aren't you afraid the world will know you brought a suspect home and label you as unfilial?" Cecily said.
Darian chuckled lightly. "Cecily, when I vouched for you, I already accepted that label. I wasn't afraid then, so why should I be now? Besides, what others say is their business, not mine."
Cecily looked into Darian's deep, dark eyes and fell silent for a moment. The car passed through a wide road and quickly entered the territory of the Fitzgerald Family's old mansion.
Skipping past the garden fountain, the car stopped at the entrance of the main house. The servants, seeing Darian's car return, hurriedly came out to open the door and welcome them.
"Get out of the car."
Darian's voice was gentle as he unfastened Cecily's seatbelt without hesitation.
Cecily leaned back slightly as Darian unbuckled her.
Cecily pursed her lips, and Darian raised an eyebrow. "Do you need me to carry you out of the car?"
Darian chuckled. "If that were the case, I think Grandpa would be so angry that he would chase us with a cane and curse us for being shameless."
Cecily sighed helplessly and followed him out of the car.
Darian held Cecily's hand and led her inside. "Don't worry. You won't have to stay here forever. Once things are settled, I'll take you and the children to live outside."
