Chapter 495 Darian's Choice
Steven sneered. "You came back after being let go. Of course, I had to catch you."
Freya's head was pressed against a gun, her expression panicked. This was nothing like what Josep had promised.
She thought, 'He has said that as long as they get Cecily, he would let me go. He has said I just need to cooperate in the act.
'Why are they doing this?'
"What are you doing? Are you going back on your word?" Bryan was furious, seeing Freya fall into their hands again.
"We just let her go, and our deal was completed. Now we've caught her again. How is that going back on our word?"
Freya looked at the dark gun barrel pointed at her, her body instinctively retreating. She lowered her voice. "Your boss said you wouldn't really hurt me. You can't touch me."
"Shut up," Steven ignored her, looking at Freya's pitiful appearance. "Talk less, understand?"
Freya was genuinely scared this time, her face pale. She quickly nodded, "I understand. I won't talk anymore."
Steven looked at Darian, excitedly spreading his hands and dragging both Cecily and Freya in front of him.
"Alright, let's do this, Mr. Fitzgerald. We'll play a little game. I have only one bullet in this gun, so I only need one life. You choose one of these two women to take with you, and I'll kill the other one for you. Isn't that fun?"
Darian's face darkened. "Why should I choose? Can't I just kill all of you?"
Steven spoke with a sinister smile, his eyes gleaming with bloodlust, "Don't be like that. Mutual destruction isn't fun. You just need to make a choice. Take the one you care about, and we'll deal with the other. Only one person dies, and we all go home. Isn't that better? If you insist on mutual destruction, that's fine too. Our lives are worthless, and it's worth it to take you down with us."
Freya realized these people might be serious. "Darian, Dad, save me. Save me first. I don't want to die."
Darian stood calmly. "I just need to make a choice, right?"
Steven nodded, "That's right. You don't care about the other one, so their life or death doesn't matter to you, right?"
The atmosphere grew tense.
Everyone was watching Darian's choice.
Especially Cecily and Freya.
Freya's eyes were fixed on Darian. In her eyes, he was here to save her, so she believed he would choose her.
"Make your choice. Who do you want?" Steven stood between the two women, grinning at Darian.
Darian's sharp gaze swept over both Cecily and Freya.
A heart-stopping silence fell, as if everyone's breathing had lightened. Only Freya kept crying and shouting for Darian to save her.
In contrast, Cecily stood quietly, not crying or making a fuss. In the earlier chaos, she had managed to grab a knife from someone. Now, she was using it to cut the rope on her wrist.
The rough rope wasn't easy to cut, and Cecily's hand was accidentally cut, but she didn't stop.
"Darian, save me." Freya cried.
Darian slowly raised his hand.
Freya's eyes lit up instantly when she saw Darian point at her. The weight in her heart lifted.
She looked at Cecily smugly, unable to resist taunting, "Cecily, see? The person you love most has completely forgotten you. Now he only loves me and wants to save me. You're the one being abandoned. Don't worry, when you die, Darian and I will come to your grave on our wedding day."
Cecily pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
Darian looked at Freya. "Let her go."
Freya turned to Steven. "Did you hear that? Let me go."
Steven's face darkened. He glanced at her and sneered. "Are you sure he chose you?"
Freya turned back to Darian, her expression freezing. "Darian."
Darian wasn't pointing at her but at Cecily beside her.
Darian chose Cecily.
Freya's mouth hung open, her mind blank.
'Why?
'How could this be?
'This wasn't right. Darian should save me. Why is he saving Cecily? Darian is supposed to save me.' Freya's mind went blank.
"Darian, I'm your fiancée. You should save me. Did you point at the wrong person?" Freya hadn't realized the truth, naively refusing to accept she was abandoned.
Darian ignored her.
Steven's eyes turned vicious. "The boss was right. You were pretending."
"So what? You won't see your boss again anyway," Darian regretfully told Steven.
Cecily looked at Darian in surprise. She hadn't expected Darian to be pretending all along.
Steven immediately signaled the nearby kidnapper to inform Josep.
But Darian wouldn't give him the chance. A gunshot rang out, and the bullet hit the walkie-talkie. Josep only heard the gunshot before the line went dead.
Steven tried to raise his gun, but Cecily swiftly turned and stabbed him in the chest with her knife.
Cecily's eyes were sharp, without a trace of fear. Under Steven's shocked gaze, she coldly said, "Who told you women have no strength?"
Steven spat blood, glaring at Cecily.
Darian's eyes narrowed, and he shot Steven in the arm, rendering Steven incapable of attacking.
Seeing this, the others picked up their weapons to fight back.
After dealing with Steven, Cecily immediately ran towards Darian, who rushed forward to protect her.
In the chaos, a kidnapper tried to stop Darian.
Seeing Cecily rescued, Freya went mad and grabbed Cecily, dragging her back.
"Freya, are you crazy? Let go of me!" Cecily said.
Freya clung tightly to Cecily, unwilling to miss her chance to get rid of her once and for all. She couldn't let Cecily escape.
After Darian dealt with one of the men, his eyes darkened when he saw that the remaining kidnappers were closing in on Cecily while Freya continued to cling to her.
A deadly resolve flashed in Darian's eyes as he raised his gun, aiming directly at Freya.
Bryan, catching onto Darian's intent, widened his eyes and shouted, "No!"
