Chapter 516 What If I Really Am Your Biological Daughter?
Narrowing his eyes coldly, Darian knocked the dagger out of Freya's grasp.
Cecily remained motionless, calmly watching Freya. Freya suddenly looked down at the dagger on the ground and saw Bryan rushing over.
In a panic, she picked up the dagger. With a fierce look, she stabbed it into her own shoulder without hesitation.
Freya fell to the ground in pain.
"Freya!" Bryan's voice suddenly rang out from behind.
Cecily saw Bryan rushing over with a worried expression.
Freya lay on the ground, her face covered in tears, and Bryan knelt down to support her.
"Dad, I’m truly sorry. Why won't they even give me a way out?" Freya sobbed in Bryan's arms. "I know I hurt Cecily. Cecily got shot. Isn't it enough that I stabbed myself to make up for it?"
When Bryan heard Freya's words, the guilt in his eyes towards Cecily lessened a bit.
Cecily watched coldly.
It was always like this. The one who played the victim always won sympathy.
As if as long as someone looked pitiful enough, all their past actions could be forgiven.
It was always like this. Cecily's heart was filled with bitterness.
"Cecily, are you satisfied now?" Freya bit her lip, looking at Cecily.
With her pale, bloodless face and tears constantly falling, anyone would feel sorry for her.
But Cecily wouldn’t.
Satisfied?
"No. Not satisfied." Cecily's face was expressionless.
Upon hearing this, Darian behind her beckoned with his finger, and Larkin immediately understood, stepping forward and without hesitation pulling the dagger out of Freya's shoulder, then viciously stabbing it back in before anyone could react.
Blood gushed from the wound, and Freya's face turned ghostly pale as she screamed in pain.
"You..." Bryan stood up, grabbed Larkin's collar, and swung a punch at him. However, Larkin dodged just in time, and the punch didn't land.
"Cecily, don't go too far," Bryan said.
"Too far? You say I'm going too far? Stab her again!"
Cecily raised an eyebrow, commanding without hesitation, her demeanor cold and ruthless.
Hearing the order, Larkin swiftly stepped forward. Bryan hadn't been paying attention earlier, but now he wouldn't let them hurt Freya so easily again.
However, Darian's men were never to be underestimated. Even if Bryan had brought people, they could quickly subdue Bryan's men.
"Don't come over. Stay away!" Freya screamed in fear.
The dagger was viciously stabbed into Freya's shoulder once again.
Larkin knew which places weren't fatal but were painful enough.
Freya's face twisted in pain.
Cecily sat in her wheelchair, watching quietly. "You can keep asking if I'm satisfied, as long as you can endure until I am."
Freya struggled to lift her eyes to look at Cecily. "You, you want to kill me."
"Cecily, you're really going too far!" Bryan was heartbroken upon seeing Freya suffer so much, but he was held tightly by two bodyguards and couldn't protect her.
Cecily's eyes finally fell on Bryan.
"Too far? Compared to what you did, this is too far? When you knocked me out and used me to exchange for her, wasn't that too far?You can't bear to see your daughter hurt, but it's okay for someone else's daughter?"
Cecily's voice trembled slightly. Thinking of that day's scene, she couldn't help but choke up a bit.
Bryan's expression wavered. "If you have hatred, let it take place on me. Let Freya go."
Cecily sneered, looking coldly at Bryan. When she saw him protect Freya like this, a wave of irritation rose in her heart.
"Why should I let her go? Do you think if you take her place, my hatred will disappear? And why should you take her place? Aren't you at fault too?" Cecily clenched her fists, coldly questioning Bryan.
Bryan's lips pressed into a thin line. Facing Cecily's questioning, he had nothing to say.
Yes, he was wrong, and they had hurt her, but Freya had already paid the price. There was no reason for Freya to pay with her life for her mistakes.
Bryan walked over, picked up Freya from the ground, and said to Cecily, "She's seriously injured and needs treatment. If you're still not satisfied with everything that happened today, you can continue to come at me, but she's suffered enough. If you try anything else, I won't let you have your way."
Cecily found these words utterly laughable.
She felt a hollow emptiness in her heart. They were supposed to be father and daughter, but it had come to this point of enmity.
Cecily didn't know how to describe this feeling. It was just very heartbreaking.
As Bryan was about to leave with Freya, Cecily spoke, "What if I really were your daughter?"
Bryan's steps halted.
"When you handed me over, did you ever think, what if I really were your daughter? Or is Freya the most important person to you now? Your wife, your daughter, your grandchild, none of it matters to you anymore, is that it?"
