Chapter 233 Wanting a Peaceful Family
"Ophelia!" The car suddenly stopped, and Tabitha and Tristan rushed out of it. Tabitha, seeing her delicately raised daughter tortured to this extent, felt heartbroken. She immediately rushed over to embrace Ophelia's broken body.
"Ophelia?"
The stench emanating from Ophelia was unbearable to Tabitha, a socialite of her kind. After calling out twice, she ran to the side to vomit.
Finally, Ophelia saw her parents, and her eyes welled up with tears. But she also saw Tabitha clutching her chest and vomiting repeatedly.
Tristan didn't even come close. He stopped from a distance with a hint of disdain flickering in his eyes.
Ophelia was already on the brink of collapse, and now her parents were treating her this way, crushing her already fragile dignity.
Ophelia could imagine how pitiful she must look right now.
But what shattered her the most was seeing Cecily. Seeing that Cecily was still alive and seeing Cecily witnessing her in this pitiful state.
Ophelia was now filled with shame, wishing she could just die.
"Ah!" She clenched her fists tightly and let out a hoarse roar, venting her frustration.
Why did the heavens treat her like this?
Why?
It was unfair. The heavens were unfair. Why did she have to suffer so much while Cecily was still alive?
She couldn't accept it, she really couldn't.
That sense of discontent made her want to tear Cecily apart with a thousand cuts.
But she couldn't.
Sadly, she couldn't bring herself to do it.
That person who she hated to her core was right in front of her, but she couldn't put an end to her anger with her own hands. Ophelia's chest felt like a pot of boiling water, scalding hot, boiling.
It was unbearable.
It was truly too much to bear.
Listening to Ophelia's screams like a mad woman, Tristan felt embarrassed and quickly ordered someone to carry Ophelia into the car as fast as possible.
Tabitha followed, crying and catching up, but unable to tolerate the smell coming from Ophelia, she kept clutching her chest and vomiting.
The scene was chaotic.
And somewhat amusing.
Tristan didn't dare to waste any more time. He stuffed everyone into the car and hurriedly left.
Cecily remained expressionless.
Sandra noticed Cecily's expression from the corner of her eye, and her face showed some satisfaction. She remained calm and composed, not taking the opportunity to kick Ophelia while she was down and mock her. Cecily's upbringing was impeccable.
Sandra pondered for a moment. If it were Ophelia standing here today, the mockery in her eyes would be impossible to hide.
Cecily's gaze, on the other hand, was pure and clear, without a trace of mockery.
Cecily noticed Sandra staring at her and looked over, asking, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, let's go inside. Darian should be back soon."
The servants bustled about in the Fitzgerald's family living room while Mr. Fitzgerald sat on the sofa. When he lifted his head, his imposing gaze fell upon Cecily.
"Why did you bring her here?" he asked.
Sandra explained immediately, "Dad, I brought Cecily here to help treat Darian. You know his current condition. He can't do without Cecily."
The first two sentences didn't elicit much of an emotional response from Mr. Fitzgerald.
But the last sentence struck a nerve and jolted his tense nerves.
Darian couldn't do without Cecily?
He truly feared that Darian couldn't function without her.
Originally, Mr. Fitzgerald didn't want Cecily to stay, but Darian's words from yesterday had startled him. His sleep disorder had indeed worsened considerably.
After careful consideration, Mr. Fitzgerald didn't say anything.
Rowan and Griffin, upon hearing that Cecily had arrived, ran downstairs from upstairs.
"Mama, did you come to see us?" they asked.
Clearly, the two little ones were happy to see Cecily. It was a smile Mr. Fitzgerald had never seen on their faces, even though he had been extra good to them. They had never smiled at him like that before.
Cecily lowered her head and gently touched the heads of the two little ones. "Yes, I came to see my two treasures."
"You guys go upstairs for a while. We'll call you when dinner is ready," Sandra suggested.
Sandra did this to prevent Mr. Fitzgerald from giving Cecily a hard time, so she had Cecily go upstairs with the children.
"Now you're protecting her too?" Mr. Fitzgerald saw through Sandra's thoughts with just one glance.
Including Sandra, everyone knew that these two children were Darian's own flesh and blood. They all hoped that Cecily could reconcile with Darian, and Mr. Fitzgerald was also aware of this.
"Dad, I'm just worried about the kids, about Darian. We've seen how he's been these past two months since Cecily went missing. I really hope that the four of them can have a harmonious and perfect family environment for the sake of the child.
Actually, Cecily isn't that bad. Didn't we dislike her initially because she was carrying someone else's child and caused the death of Ophelia's child? But now, the truth is out. Her child is Darian's flesh and blood, and Ophelia's child back then wasn't harmed by her."
Sandra later also carefully considered that Cecily had no reason to harm Ophelia's child.
There must be some hidden story behind this.
Thinking about all these years, Cecily has given birth to two children for the Fitzgerald Family, and yet they treated her that way. In their hearts, they felt guilty.
"Bang." Mr. Fitzgerald slammed his glass heavily on the table, making a dull sound, showing his anger.
"Some things are not what you see. I won't allow her to become Darian's wife again. I have my reasons."
Sandra pursed her lips and remained silent.
She couldn't understand where Mr. Fitzgerald's hatred was coming from, and though she wanted to ask, she decided against it.
If she were to continue asking, Mr. Fitzgerald would probably become even angrier.
Ophelia was taken back to the Flore's Family, and Tabitha immediately arranged for her to take a bath.
The servants couldn't help but hold their breath when they smelled the odor coming from Ophelia's body, and their expressions became strange.
Ophelia reached out and slapped one of the servants hard.
She vented all her anger on this servant who held their breath around her.
"Bitch."
"Who allowed you to hold your breath? Are you disgusted by me?" Ophelia's voice was sharp as she roared in madness.
"I'm sorry, it wasn't intentional," the maid who had been slapped felt particularly wronged.
She was so smelly, and yet people weren't allowed to hold their breath?
"What's wrong, Ophelia?" Tabitha walked in upon hearing the commotion, and she saw Ophelia sitting in the bathtub with her distorted expression while the maid knelt on the ground, covering her face and crying.
Tabitha quickly understood what had happened when she saw Ophelia's angry expression.
It wasn't this maid who had infuriated Ophelia; she was just a target for Ophelia to vent her anger.
She couldn't take her anger out on others, so she directed it towards the weak.
