Chapter 707 Vivienne Appears

"You always speak up for her; it's clear that you're biased," Hunter said angrily.

Desmond was unmoved by his words. "I'm just stating the truth."

Hunter was momentarily speechless.

Keaen snorted coldly, "Because of Cecily, everyone is calling Giselle a thief. Think about the impact on Giselle. How do you plan to handle this?"

Cecily glanced at Giselle. "Everyone saw the ring being found in her bag. What else is there to handle?"

"This is you framing her!"

"Where's the evidence? I said, if you're going to accuse me of framing her, first you need to explain how I got the ring," Cecily asked calmly.

The three of them fell silent.

Hunter said, "Even if Giselle did something to wrong you, you can't use such a malicious way to frame her. How will she face people in the future?"

"Well said. You said the same thing last time. So, Giselle is allowed to frame me, but I'm not allowed to fight back?" Cecily nodded. "That's really shameless."

"Giselle isn't as malicious as you."

Cecily sneered, "What's truly nasty is that she tried to frame me and my kid first. You all know what Giselle did was wrong, but you just want to help her avoid punishment, or drag me down with her."

Cecily's voice was icy, revealing Hunter and Keaen's intentions. Their eyes darkened.

"You deserve to be punished," Hunter argued defensively.

"What did I do wrong? Show me the evidence. If I indeed did something wrong and broke the family rules, I will accept the punishment," Cecily retorted.

Hunter and Keaen fell silent.

"See, you can't say anything because you know Giselle is the one at fault. There's nothing more to say. You're wasting your breath here. Desmond, go ahead with the punishment," Cecily said coldly.

Cecily had no sympathy for Giselle. After all, Giselle's scheming wasn't just a one-time thing.

Giselle looked at Cecily unwillingly.

She had lost face last night and now had to be punished today, while Cecily was unscathed.

How could Giselle accept that?

Desmond waved his hand, and the bodyguard immediately stepped forward.

"Bring the ruler," Desmond commanded.

"Let go of me! Who dares to touch me?" Giselle shouted loudly, her voice full of authority, causing the bodyguard to hesitate.

Giselle stepped forward, staring directly at Cecily, and said, "Yes, I was wrong. I admit I conspired with Imogen and Cecilia to put the ring in Rowan's pocket, hoping it would be found there and he would be accused of theft."

"But what about you, Cecily? After you found out, you deliberately approached me and put the ring in my bag to frame me as a thief. You made me lose face in front of so many people. And your revenge has damaged the Bennett family's reputation, making us a laughingstock. I'll accept my punishment, but you must be punished too!"

Desmond pressed his lips tightly, saying nothing.

Seeing this, Hunter and Keaen immediately chimed in.

Hunter said, "That's right. If there's going to be punishment, everyone at fault should be punished. Otherwise, we won't accept it."

Keaen added, "Cecily's actions have damaged the Bennett family's reputation. She must be punished too."

Giselle raised her chin, looking at Cecily with a sneer.

Cecily's eyes grew colder. "The one who damaged the Bennett family's reputation is you."

"That's because you framed me," Giselle retorted.

The two stared coldly at each other, the atmosphere in the room tense.

At that moment, Desmond received a phone call.

"Mrs. Vivienne Bennett," Desmond answered respectfully.

Cecily's eyes widened, her gaze fixed on Desmond.

Accepting the order on the other end, Desmond put the phone on speaker, and Vivienne's voice came through, "It's really a mess at home while I'm away."

The familiar voice made Cecily's breath catch. She stood there, nerves tense, staring at the phone.

It was really Vivienne's voice.

Cecily was so excited she didn't know what to do, just standing there in a daze.

Hearing Vivienne's call, Hunter and Keaen exchanged glances and frowned.

Hunter snorted, "You called at this time because you know what happened last night, right?"

"You made such a fuss, it's hard not to know." Vivienne's voice was as usual, cold and full of pressure.

At that moment, Vivienne was sitting on a single sofa, watching the surveillance footage, trying to stay alert. She had just taken her medication, which would keep her going for a while.

Hunter knew that even if Vivienne wasn't in Detroit, she could still know everything happening there.

Detroit was full of Vivienne's informants.

"Since you know about this, as the head of this family, you should judge this matter fairly. Don't be biased just because Cecily is your daughter," Hunter said.

Vivienne laughed lightly. "Of course."

Hunter said, "Since you said that, let's hear how they should be punished. If you're biased, we won't be happy."

Keaen added, "Right, Giselle, don't be afraid. With your dad and me here, we won't let you be wronged."

Giselle nodded along with their words.

Vivienne said, "Giselle, first you used a fake invitation at the party to try to embarrass Cecily by preventing her from entering. For this first offense, you are to be punished with twenty strokes of the ruler. Do you accept?"

Giselle clenched her fists.

That would be incredibly painful.

She gritted her teeth. "Yes."

Vivienne continued, "At the party, you conspired with outsiders to frame Cecily and Rowan for theft. For this second offense, you are to be punished with twenty strokes of the ruler. Do you accept?"

Forty strokes in total.

Giselle could already feel her hands aching.

She had been punished with the ruler once as a child, and the pain was still vivid in her memory.
