Chapter 697 Daddy, Someone Looks Down on You
Upon hearing Imogen's words, Giselle's face darkened. Imogen didn't know that Cecily's husband was Darian, nor that these two were children of the Fitzgerald family, but Giselle did.
So when Imogen brought this up, she frowned.
She wondered why this fool was still rambling on. Wouldn't it be easier to just have someone search them and find the ring?
Hearing this, Griffin took the opportunity while they were still talking to borrow Aurelie's phone and call Darian.
At that moment, Darian had just returned to Detroit. Cecily had told him she was going to a party tonight, and he was about to call and ask when they would be back when Aurelie's call came through.
Darian answered, and it was Griffin's voice on the other end.
Griffin asked, "Daddy, are you in Detroit yet?"
"Yes, I'm here. What's up? Are you still at the party?"
Griffin glanced at the situation in front of him and nodded, "Yes, Daddy, you need to come quickly. Someone is looking down on you."
"Looking down on me?" Darian raised an eyebrow, not quite understanding Griffin's meaning.
"Yes, they said our family is poor and that we're bad kids who steal things. Daddy, don't you think that's looking down on you?" Griffin said indignantly.
"What did they say you stole?" Darian's voice grew more serious.
"A ring."
"Got it. I'll be there soon."
"Okay, Daddy, hurry up." After the call, Griffin returned the phone to Aurelie.
Aurelie asked curiously, "Griffin, what did you do?"
Griffin snorted, "Didn't they just look down on my daddy with what they said?"
Aurelie recalled Imogen's earlier words about Rowan's poor upbringing, which indeed was looking down on Darian. "That's true."
"I'm calling my dad over to deal with them," Griffin said confidently, with a hint of pride in his voice.
Although he usually found Darian annoying, he had to admit that Darian's status came in handy at times like this.
Aurelie laughed, "You're really smart."
Up ahead, Imogen was still constantly framing them, and Giselle didn't stop her at all because they knew that as soon as they searched, they would win.
"Ms. Bennett, it's not that I want to make things difficult for you, but that ring is very important to me, so I must find it. Everyone just helped look for it, but you didn't cooperate at all. And I've only been in contact with your children, so I highly suspect that your children took my ring. Please have your children cooperate with us for a search." As Imogen spoke, she stepped forward, reaching out towards Rowan.
Rowan's face was cold and tense, showing a bit of Darian's aura. Having spent more time with Darian, Rowan's temperament had become quite similar to his.
"Are you sure you're qualified to search me?" Rowan didn't move an inch, but his bright eyes showed a hint of hostility.
Imogen was so scared by his gaze that she stopped her hand.
Realizing she had been scared by a child, she felt embarrassed.
"So what if I search you? I'm telling you, taking other people's things is wrong. If you hand over the ring now, I won't pursue it further," Imogen said.
Imogen reached out towards Rowan again, but Cecily raised her hand and grabbed Imogen's wrist. "What right do you have to search him?"
Imogen gritted her teeth. "I just want to find my diamond ring. Please have your children cooperate."
Giselle stepped forward. "Cecily, why don't you and your children cooperate? Otherwise, you won't clear your name tonight, and being constantly suspected isn't good for you. Don't you agree?"
"So you're looking out for me?"
"Of course, I just want to clear you and Rowan of suspicion. Just a search, Cecily, please cooperate."
"Then why not search yourself?" Cecily retorted, "I remember you three were always together, right? If we're talking about the biggest suspects for the missing ring, isn't it you and Cecilia?"
"Are you saying I would steal something?" Giselle laughed out loud. "Cecily, are you joking? With my status, I would steal? Even if you want to clear yourself and Rowan, you don't have to falsely accuse me."
"If my child and I are suspects, aren't you? Giselle, are you saying that my child and I are of poor character, while you are of high character and wouldn't do such a thing?"
Giselle bit her lip. "I didn't mean that."
Cecily ignored her and said, "If you want to search, fine, but everyone gets searched together."
"Why?" Giselle was immediately displeased.
Giselle would never allow herself to be subjected to such a humiliating thing as a search.
"Why? Aren't you the ones who want to search? Then it's only fair to search everyone who had contact with Imogen, right? Don't you all agree?" Cecily asked the others.
"That's right, if you're going to search, search all of you. You can't just pick on the kid because he's easy to bully."
"Exactly, search everyone. Fair and just, everyone can see."
Giselle gritted her teeth. As long as they searched, they would win. So the search had to happen.
"Fine." She agreed directly, "Since Cecily says so, we have no objections."
Cecily nodded, her gaze falling on Imogen. "Miss Fairfax, you better think this through. If you really go through with this search, you'll offend quite a few people."
Imogen glanced at Giselle behind her.
Giselle had said that Cecily actually had no real power in the Bennett family and couldn't touch her, so she didn't need to be afraid of her.
Besides, with Giselle backing her up, what did she have to fear?
"Ms. Bennett, you should consider what to do if the ring is really found on you," Imogen retorted.
