Chapter 317 Going Out Together

The next morning.

The bright sunlight fell, warm and cozy. It was a nice day.

Darian was called out by Owen early in the morning for a scolding. Darian and Cecily had anticipated this, so they weren't very surprised.

Cecily sent the two kids to school and then went to the company.

Cecily glanced at Vincent, who was following her, and paused, "I'm going to the company. You can actually stay at home."

"No, I have to protect you."

Cecily tugged at her lips. He was very earnest. When he said he wanted to protect her, he meant watching her every moment, not daring to relax for a second.

"If you don't like being followed, I can stay out of your sight."

Cecily sighed lightly, "Forget it. You can follow me."

He had nowhere to go if she didn't let him follow. His pitiful look made it hard for Cecily to make up her mind to drive him away.

Cecily turned and got on the elevator, and Vincent quickly followed. Just before the elevator doors closed, Aurelie walked over quickly, "Wait a minute."

Cecily held the elevator for him.

Aurelie's originally expressionless face showed a bit of surprise when he saw Cecily, "You're back."

Cecily raised an eyebrow slightly, "I texted you yesterday saying I'd be back today."

Aurelie lightly brushed his hair, "Okay, sorry, I might not have noticed my phone yesterday."

Cecily noticed Aurelie's slightly tired expression and looked at her a few more times, "Have you been too tired because I wasn't here, so you didn't rest well? You have dark circles under your eyes."

Aurelie smiled helplessly, "It's not the company's matters that made me like this. It's other things."

The elevator arrived, and Vincent reminded them, "Sister, the elevator is here."

"Sister?" Aurelie turned back to notice the man behind her, then widened her eyes at Cecily as if discovering a new continent, "When did you get such a big brother?"

Cecily lightly pressed her lips, "It's a long story."

"Then make it short."

"Why don't you tell me what's going on with you? You don't look happy at all. Someone might think I forced you to work."

"Yeah, I feel unhappy because I'm forced to work. You owe me compensation."

Cecily, "What compensation do you want?"

"Tell me when you got a handsome guy around you."

Vincent listened to their conversation, curiously watching them.

Aurelie waved her hand, "We're talking, don't listen."

Cecily walked forward, "I'll give you a raise instead."

"I'm more interested in gossip. A raise isn't as important as your matters." Aurelie grumbled, linking her arm with Cecily's.

Cecily smiled, "I'll tell you tonight if I'm free. I'm busy now."

"I'm not free tonight."

"You have something to do?"

"Yes."

"All right then, report the company's situation to me when you have time. Later, call a few directors for a meeting."

Talking about work, they got back on track.

"There's not much going on recently. Evander came looking for you the day before yesterday. He's probably busy filming and hasn't been following online matters, so he didn't know you went to Detroit. I told him for you."

"There are also some documents. I've handled what I could, but some need your personal signature. I'll have the assistant bring them to you later."

Cecily nodded lightly, "Okay, thank you for your hard work."

"Also, you need to go to the R&D department later. Some adjustments are needed for the perfume formula, involving professional knowledge that I don't understand. You need to look at it yourself."

"I know, I'll go later."

"Then I'll get busy. I have something to do this afternoon and need to leave early, so I'm asking for leave in advance."

Cecily nodded. Aurelie was very busy managing the company for her. Letting her leave early or even take a few days off was well-deserved. She agreed without saying much.

The office soon quieted down, and Cecily also settled down to start her day's work.

Vincent was very quiet. He stood by without speaking or moving, not disturbing Cecily, minimizing his presence.

In the afternoon, after finishing her work, Cecily went to pick up Rowan and Griffin from school, then went to the supermarket to buy some groceries, planning to cook their favorite dishes for them in the evening.

To prevent Eliza from targeting the children to get at her, Cecily and Darian picked up and dropped off the kids.

"Mommy, Daddy seems to be back."

As soon as they walked into the living room, Rowan and Griffin saw Larkin waiting in the living room.

"Hello, Uncle Larkin." They greeted Larkin politely.

"Hello, kids."

Cecily raised an eyebrow slightly, "Larkin, Darian came back so early?"

Larkin nodded, "He has a drinking party tonight at The Silver Fox Tavern with Hayden and Declan and some other friends he usually hangs out with, so he came back early."

Cecily's eyes flickered slightly.

Larkin didn't need to report so meticulously, even telling her the location and specific people.

Just then, Darian came down from upstairs, his calm gaze falling on Cecily's beautiful face, showing a bit of tenderness, "You're back."

"Yes, I heard from Larkin that you have a drinking party tonight."

Darian nodded, glancing at the things Cecily was carrying, "What's this?"

Cecily handed the things to the servant beside her and answered Darian, "I haven't cooked in a while. I plan to make some dishes the kids love, so I bought some groceries. Are you leaving now?"

"No, I'm not leaving." Darian had already raised his hand to take off his coat.

"What?"

"Aren't you cooking? I'm not going, or I won't get to eat your dishes."

Cecily couldn't help but find his words amusing, "You've already promised them, so go quickly. I can cook for you tomorrow."

"Just for me? Do I have that honor?" Darian's tone was a bit cautiously flattering.

Cecily's eyes trembled slightly, and she pressed her lips, "I'm living in your house now. Consider it payment; I'll cook as much as you want."

Darian's eyes suddenly dimmed, showing rare helplessness. He stepped forward, raised his hand to brush her bangs, and sighed lightly, "Cecily, I hope you consider this your home too, our home."

Cecily saw the emotion flashing in his eyes, her eyelashes trembling slightly.

Her phone rang at this moment. Darian glanced at it and answered the call.

"Darian, are you coming?" Hayden's side was lively, obviously already in the private room.

"I'm not going. You guys have fun."

"Wait, you should go. You've already promised them." Cecily quickly stopped Darian's words.

Hayden heard her voice and quickly said, "Cecily has spoken. Come on, bring Cecily along. We're all friends who know how to behave. Besides, Darian, we're celebrating a friend who just got out of jail after ten years. He's had a tough time."

Darian thought for a moment and looked at Cecily, "How about we go out and have some fun tonight?"

Cecily paused slightly.

Hayden's loud voice came through the phone, "Cecily, come on, we're all friends."

Darian looked at Cecily, waiting for her decision.

"I can't drink. If I go, I'll just spoil your fun."
