Chapter 665 Expel All Absent Members
A minute ticked by, and the conference room was still dead silent.
Giselle had this smug look on her face.
Keaen let out a sigh and got up, "Alright, I think we've waited long enough. Time's up, and no one's showing. Let's just call it a day."
Word about this meeting was gonna spread like wildfire through the company.
Cecily was getting the cold shoulder from all the big shots, and soon even the regular folks wouldn't give her the time of day.
Cecily knew exactly what was going on and wasn't about to let them win. She checked her watch and said, "Bronte."
Bronte walked over and leaned in.
Cecily whispered something to Bronte, making her eyes go wide. She hesitated, "Are you sure? Isn't this a bit much?"
Cecily said firmly, "I'm sure. Just do it."
Cecily didn't waver for a second.
"It's your first day, so you might not know these people well. They're all hotheads. This kind of harsh punishment for something so small—they won't take it lying down. If it gets to the board or the shareholders, you're in for it." Bronte tried to warn Cecily not to act rashly.
No, Cecily wasn't being rash; Bronte thought she was just plain nuts.
Cecily replied, "Just do it. I'll handle whatever comes."
Seeing Cecily so set on her decision, Bronte couldn't argue anymore. As her assistant, she'd done her part by warning her. Now, she just had to follow orders.
Bronte glanced at the few people still seated, then left the room.
The three of them looked at Cecily, who was still sitting there cool as a cucumber.
Keaen leaned over to Hunter, eyeing Cecily, "What's she up to now?"
He didn't think she had any tricks up her sleeve.
Hunter looked at Cecily; she was so calm in this mess. He squinted, "I have no idea."
"You all should wait a bit longer. I believe they will come soon," Cecily said with confidence.
Hunter replied, "No one's here now, and you still think they're gonna show up?"
Cecily replied firmly, "I said they will come, and they will."
Seeing Cecily so sure, Hunter thought she was being naive. He'd made sure no one would come.
This meeting was gonna be a total joke for Cecily.
"Cecily, everyone's busy and won't come. Sitting here is just wasting time. We all have stuff to do, so let's get back to work," Giselle said, smirking.
"Is this how your meetings usually go at the company?" Cecily asked.
"Of course not. It's just today. I don't know why, but no one came," Giselle sighed, but there was a hint of laughter in her voice.
Giselle continued, "Cecily, you really don't need to be here. You'd be better off going back to being a full-time housewife. After getting married, you should stay home and take care of your family. Why bother with all this work stuff?"
Cecily shot back, "So, Giselle, are you planning to be a full-time housewife after you get married?"
"Of course not," Giselle said, standing up. "If you want to sit here, it's okay. We've got work to do."
Cecily's eyes flicked over to Giselle, not even trying to stop her from leaving.
Hunter watched Cecily, feeling uneasy. She should've known she'd be the laughingstock of the company after this, yet she sat there like she had it all figured out.
Hunter couldn't help but ask, "You said they'd come. What's your plan? Are you gonna use Vivienne's name to scare them?"
Cecily replied calmly, "Nope. Asking Vivienne for help might work once, but not forever."
Hunter pressed, "Then what are you gonna do?"
It wasn't that Hunter underestimated Cecily, but even he couldn't think of a way out.
Giselle paused, curious about Cecily's next move.
Cecily's eyes were icy as she looked around the room, "I said, fire everyone who didn't show up today!"
"What did you just say?" Hunter's eyes widened, his voice rising.
He couldn't believe his ears.
But seeing the looks on Giselle and Keaen's faces, he knew he hadn't misheard.
Did Cecily even know what she was doing?
She actually said she'd fire all the higher-ups.
Was she really crazy, or did she just not care about staying in the company?
Did she really think being Vivienne's daughter gave her free rein? If she actually fired them, the company would be in chaos.
Of course, she didn't have the authority, and they wouldn't let her do it.
Even if she didn't go through with it, she'd pissed off all the higher-ups today.
She genuinely wasn't afraid of making enemies; even Vivienne couldn't save her now.
Keaen almost burst out laughing.
Was Cecily crazy or just plain dumb?
On her first day, she wanted to fire all the higher-ups. Wasn't she afraid of their backlash?
Keaen could already picture the mess Cecily would be in after pissing everyone off.
Giselle hadn't expected this move from Cecily either.
It seemed they didn't need to do anything to drive her out. She'd already made a huge mess on her first day.
Cecily causing trouble was exactly what they wanted.
"Cecily, do you even know what you're doing?" Giselle walked over to her. "Firing all the higher-ups over something so small—how did you come up with that?"
Giselle added, "Do you think just because you're Vivienne's daughter, she'll protect you, and that she'll hand over the company to you in the future, you can do whatever you want?"
