Chapter 7
Darian's eyes were filled with anger as he grabbed Cecily by the neck.
"You played dead and fooled me. Is that fun?"
Cecily coughed hard, thinking, 'After five years, he still won't let me go?'
"Darian, it's been years. You've finally become a lunatic? We've divorced already, and there's no relationship between us at all, okay? What does my being alive have to do with you? Am I fooling you? Well, you're not even worthy, okay?"
Cecily meant that he wasn't even worthy of being fooled by her now.
Glaring at her with rage, Darian roared, "Cecily, how could you do that? You caused Ophelia to lose her child. Then you faked your death and left without any guilt, living it up abroad. Do you have any conscience?"
Scenes from the past replayed in Darian's mind. He thought about the child that was sent over back then and the two death certificates. He had been feeling guilty toward her all these years. But seeing her now, lively and brazen in front of him, Darian felt like a fool.
The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to strangle her.
"I didn't cause Ophelia to lose her child. Why should I feel guilty? Back then, you almost killed me over this, but I survived. Now, what do you want? You wanna strangle me? Fine, come on! Darian, if you dare, strangle me now!" Cecily shouted.
Darian narrowed his eyes, veins bulging as he gripped Cecily's neck.
Cecily's clear eyes were full of stubbornness and disdain, showing no fear.
Seeing this, Larkin was shocked. He hurriedly stepped forward to pry Darian's hand off.
"Boss, calm down! Please! You're about to kill Ms. Watson!" Larkin panicked, trying to stop Darian.
Finally, Darian let go, and Cecily slumped to the ground, greedily gasping for breath.
The fire of anger in Darian's heart couldn't be extinguished easily. He shook off Larkin's hand and looked down at Cecily.
He said, "It was clearly you who caused Ophelia's child's death. The evidence is solid, yet you still have the audacity to argue! Cecily, it's been five years, but you haven't changed a bit, still without any remorse."
"Don't worry. I'll never have remorse in my life." Cecily was close to laughing out of anger. She thought she hadn't harmed anyone, so why should she feel remorse?
Hearing this, Darian said with a sneer, "You're quite stubborn. Let's see how long you can keep it up. Guards, take her away."
Two bodyguards stepped forward to restrain Cecily.
Cecily's eyes flashed with anger, and with lightning speed, she shook off the guards' hands.
The two bodyguards hadn't expected her to react so quickly.
"Darian, you wanna arrest me? Who do you think you are?" Cecily roared in anger. At that moment, she really wanted to kill Darian.
She roared at Darian, "It's been so many years. What else do you want from me? Because of you, I almost died on the operating table! Because of you, I lost a child. The biggest mistake of my life was meeting you, Darian. I hate you, and I'll never forgive you!"
When she mentioned losing a child, Darian's eyes flickered.
He thought, 'So the other child had indeed died back then.'
"You deserved it. You tried to kill someone else's child, remember? That dead child was your retribution," Darian sneered.
The next second, a crisp and loud slap landed on Darian's face, leaving a red mark.
Suddenly, everything fell silent.
At that moment, Larkin felt the veins in his temples were throbbing, and he really wanted to run away from the scene. It was too terrifying here.
Cecily stared at Darian with crimson eyes. She slapped him with all her strength as if she was venting all the grievances she had suffered over the years.
"The biggest retribution of my life was meeting you! Darian! You hear that? My biggest retribution is you!"
Cecily shouted this out completely.
All her misfortunes began when she married him. Her child did nothing wrong, yet he died on a cold operating table. In her mind, Darian was the culprit, and he had no right to speak to her like that.
Darian wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. His dark eyes, filled with a cold and murderous intent, locked onto Cecily.
After a long silence, just when Larkin thought Darian would surely kill Cecily this time, Darian simply raised his hand and grabbed Cecily by the back of her neck, pressing her in front of him. With a voice devoid of any warmth, Darian said, "Very well. Let's continue to welcome your retribution."
Cecily's eyelashes trembled slightly. The next moment, she was pushed out with great force.
The two bodyguards immediately grabbed her arms and pinned her down.
Cecily's eyes sharpened. She reversed, grabbing the bodyguards' arms.
The bodyguards let out a miserable cry, as they clutched their wrists, painfully retreating several steps.
They never expected that Cecily, who looked fragile, had such strength.
Darian was also surprised. He narrowed his eyes, thinking, 'Seems that she has learned a lot in the past five years.'
He strode forward, grabbing her wrist. Cecily didn't hesitate. She pressed his hand with her other hand and was about to give him a beautiful shoulder throw. But Darian saw through her move. Before she could react, his long legs swiftly swept toward her shins. Unable to match his speed, Cecily was harshly pressed against the car.
Without a word, Darian grabbed her hands with one hand and pulled open his tie with the other.
Cecily watched his movements, and for the first time, a hint of fear appeared in her cold eyes.
"What do you want? Darian, you bastard, let me go!" she shouted.
Darian sneered, his mocking tone more pronounced, "With your naive skills, you're no match for me."
As he spoke, he had already tied Cecily's hands with his tie. Then, he hoisted her over his shoulder and walked out in large strides.
"Darian, you lunatic! Psycho! Put me down! What do you wanna do? You've killed one of my children. Isn't that enough? What else do you want? Why do you appear in my life again? Why do you have to torment me? I hate you, Darian! I hate you! Let me go! Can't you hear me?" Cecily cried.
Suddenly, Darian loosened his grip, and Cecily almost fell from his shoulder.
Seeing her about to fall, Darian caught her again.
"If you say one more word of nonsense, I'll drop you." Darian stopped, staring at her with a warning look in his eyes.
