Chapter 414 Oh no, Cecily has been assassinated
Aurelie paused, suddenly realizing that her card might be nearing its limit. She had just splurged on Rowan and Griffin, and it might have maxed out.
Lillian laughed and said, "Miss Miller, it seems that even if you snatch something that doesn't belong to you, you don't have the ability to keep it."
"What happened?" Cecily walked over to Aurelie, discreetly slipped a card into her hand, and then smiled calmly at the others. "Did you run into some friends?"
Aurelie glanced at Cecily, who winked at her.
Aurelie understood Cecily's intention. She indeed didn't have enough money, but at this moment, she couldn't just hand over what she had her eyes on. She handed over the card and said, "Use this one."
As soon as the card was taken out, even Aurelie was stunned.
'God, Cecily has given me a black card,' she wondered.
The sales associate, who had seen a lot, instantly brightened up. Lillian was even more stunned. Even if they hadn't seen this kind of card before, they had certainly heard of it, an unlimited black card.
Lillian's face stiffened. Jessica looked at Aurelie taking out the card, and her gaze towards Aurelie changed.
Watching Aurelie successfully make the payment, Jessica's gaze shifted again.
"Aurelie, I never opposed you being with Nathaniel."
Just now, she didn't acknowledge that Nathaniel had a girlfriend, but now seeing her with a black card, her stance seemed to have changed abruptly. Aurelie found it a bit ironic.
The sales associate packed the clothes and respectfully handed the card back to Aurelie. "Miss, your clothes are packed."
Aurelie took it and replied, "Thank you."
Lillian, seeing Jessica's satisfied smile towards Aurelie, bit her lip hard and stepped forward to hold Jessica's hand. "Auntie, let's go."
Cecily and Aurelie didn't plan to stay longer either. With their clothes packed, they were ready to leave.
Lillian took a few steps forward, feeling indignant, turned back to Aurelie, and asked, "By the way, Miss Miller, your eyebrows and eyes look quite like mine. Did Nathaniel ever mention that to you?"
Aurelie's steps faltered momentarily.
Cecily looked at Aurelie. In fact, she didn't know Jessica and Lillian, who had just been talking to Aurelie, but from what she overheard, it seemed they were connected to Nathaniel.
Seeing Aurelie frozen in place, Lillian felt as if she had won a round. "Last time I said I wanted to sit down and have a good chat with you. Miss Miller, see when you have time, and we need to clear some things up."
"Let's go." Aurelie ignored Lillian's provocative words and left, holding Cecily's arm.
After walking some distance, Cecily asked, "Is it related to Nathaniel?"
The last time Aurelie got drunk, Cecily hadn't had the chance to ask her what had happened.
Clearly, Aurelie was very troubled now and clearly in no mood for conversation.
"Cecily, thanks for the card. I'll transfer the money to you when I get back. I have something to do, so I need to leave first."
Aurelie left in a hurry, even refusing Cecily's offer to have someone accompany her.
Cecily was a bit worried about her, but Gary hadn't brought Rowan and Griffin back yet, so she couldn't leave with her.
"Mommy."
Rowan and Griffin came back each holding two ice creams, eating one themselves and seemingly bringing the other two for her and Aurelie.
Not seeing Aurelie, Griffin asked, "Mommy, where's Ms. Aurelie?"
Cecily replied, "Ms. Aurelie had something to do and left first."
"What a pity, we bought Auntie her favorite ice cream."
Cecily thought that Aurelie probably didn't want to eat anything right now.
Griffin looked disappointed, staring at the ice cream. "Then Griffin will have to help Auntie finish it."
Cecily looked at Griffin and gently rubbed his head. "You, eating so much, aren't you afraid of freezing your little tummy? It's getting late. Grandma is waiting for us to have dinner at home. Let's go back."
"Okay."
By the time they left the mall, it was already dark.
Gary was driving, with Cecily, Rowan, and Griffin in the back seat. Cecily called Aurelie, but she didn't answer, making Cecily a bit worried.
"Why isn't she answering?" Cecily murmured.
"What's wrong, Cecily?" Gary asked, noticing her worried expression through the rearview mirror.
Cecily shook her head and replied, "I noticed Aurelie was in a bad mood earlier. I'm a bit worried about her."
Suddenly, there was a sharp brake, startling Cecily. In an effort to protect Rowan and Griffin, her phone slipped out of her hand.
"Mommy."
"Mommy."
Cecily looked at Gary and asked, "What's going on?"
Gary's eyes narrowed. "Something's wrong."
Vivienne liked quiet places, so there weren't many people around where she lived. This road was usually deserted, and now there was someone standing right in the middle. Gary couldn't just run them over, so he had to brake. He honked twice, and only then did the person react, slowly turning around.
Under the dim light, the person wore a black hat, held a stick, and had a fierce look with sharp eyes.
Cecily also realized something was wrong.
It was too quiet. Even if this road usually had few pedestrians, it shouldn't be this silent.
She shouted, "Gary, drive!"
Gary started the car without hesitation, but at that moment, another car drove up and blocked their way.
With Cecily, Rowan, and Griffin in the back, Gary couldn't just crash into it and had to stop.
The car window was suddenly smashed by someone from the side, causing Rowan and Griffin to scream. The person quickly reached in to open the car door.
Cecily's face turned pale. She protected Rowan and Griffin with one hand and swiftly struck at the assailant with the other.
But these weren't ordinary assailants. The person saw through Cecily's move and dodged in time. The car door was opened, and suddenly, a strong force grabbed Cecily's arm.
"Mommy."
The other side's window was also smashed, and Griffin was pulled out by another assailant.
"Griffin!"
Sounds of a scuffle were heard. Gary quickly got out of the car, grabbed the assailant, and punched him.
The assailant tried to dodge but didn't expect Gary to be so fast. By the time he saw the punch coming, it had already landed on his face.
Gary, with a fierce look, snatched Griffin back and put him in the car.
"Stay in the car."
With that, Gary immediately went to help Cecily. Although Cecily had learned some self-defense from Blaise, dealing with professional assassins was a different story.
Gary helped her deal with the assailant in front of her, but soon, more people came rushing from all directions.
"Cecily."
Gary wanted Cecily to leave first, but there was no chance.
"Damn it."
Cecily and Gary each leaned against the car doors, protecting the children inside. Cecily looked at the assailants warily and asked, "Who sent you?"
The assailants sneered. "You should ask yourself who you've offended."
Cecily clenched her fists. "You guys are doing this for money. Whatever they're paying you, I'll double it. Let us go."
"We have our own rules in this business, Miss Watson. Keep your money."
The assailants, holding sticks, rushed at them. Cecily's face changed as a stick swung straight at her.
Cecily dodged, and the stick hit the car, leaving a deep dent. The force behind it was immense, showing no signs of restraint. If that stick had hit her head, she wouldn't have survived.
They were clearly out to kill her.
Meanwhile, in a dark room in Dorde, Blaise sat lazily on a sofa, wearing a simple black shirt. His long fingers played with a gleaming knife, the cold moonlight making him look even more unapproachable.
Just then, the door was kicked open.
Blaise lifted his gaze.
"Are you a Bison?"
Cassian didn't dare delay. "Blaise, Cecily is in danger. We just found out that the Shadow Strike Syndicate took a hit order, and the target is Cecily."
