Chapter 366 She Said She Would Return
Owen narrowed his eyes at Eliza. "If this drug causes any harm beyond amnesia, you know the consequences."
Eliza trembled all over, quickly lowering her head. "I understand. I am in your hands now, my life and death are entirely up to you. I have no intention of any wrongdoing."
Glancing at her, Owen nodded. "That's good."
"Mr. Owen Fitzgerald, do you really intend to use this drug on Mr. Darian Fitzgerald?" Sawyer felt Owen was acting a bit mad and hurried forward to dissuade him.
"Mr. Owen Fitzgerald, Mr. Darian Fitzgerald is just temporarily infatuated with Miss Watson. He will change..."
"Temporarily infatuated? No, he's gone crazy. He can harm himself for Cecily now, and in the future, he might sacrifice his life for her. I can't let him continue like this."
Sawyer frowned. He knew Owen was always stubborn, and no one could change his decisions.
"Mr. Fitzgerald, but we can't fully trust Eliza. She is truly malicious. If this drug has other harmful effects, it will harm Mr. Darian Fitzgerald."
"You're right."
Eliza was indeed not that trustworthy.
Owen waved his hand decisively and said, "Since it's her thing, let her try it first."
"Me?" Eliza hadn't expected she would have to test it herself. She didn't resist because resistance was futile.
She obediently allowed herself to be injected. Eliza raised her head. "Grandfather, you can rest assured now."
Owen nodded and signaled to inject Darian.
As the needle pierced Darian's arm and the potion was half-injected, his deep eyes suddenly opened. Sensing someone administering medication beside him, his usual vigilance made his eyes narrow, and he swiftly pushed the person away.
"Mr. Darian Fitzgerald?" Sawyer exclaimed. "Mr. Owen Fitzgerald, Mr. Darian Fitzgerald is awake."
Owen strode in, staring into Darian's eyes, not moving for a moment. "Darian, can you see?"
Darian raised his eyes, his gaze falling on his hand. He suddenly lifted his head, his eyes like sharp blades, directed at Owen. "You stopped the surgery?"
Owen looked into Darian's eyes, overjoyed. "Wonderful, you can still see."
Their focus was different, each speaking their own concerns.
Darian frowned, glanced at Owen, and not seeing Cecily, he got out of bed. "Where is Cecily?"
Why wasn't his cornea transplanted to Cecily? Where was Cecily now?
Darian's eyes were full of worry.
Eliza, lying on the ground, appeared particularly awkward. Darian noticed her at a glance.
He took a few steps and then stopped.
This was not his Cecily.
Seeing Darian about to leave again, Owen shouted angrily, "Darian! Stop right there. Cecily has already left!"
Darian turned his head. "You drove her away?"
"She left on her own, Darian! She chose to leave you and went with Blaise. She said you've paid off all your debts to each other. How long will you remain stubborn?" Owen was deeply pained.
Darian's eyes flashed with murderous intent. "Impossible."
Cecily couldn't have left with Blaise.
If the surgery wasn't stopped, it could only mean she didn't want his cornea.
She left because she didn't want him to make such self-harming decisions again. She didn't want to cause a rift between him and Owen.
He knew Cecily's nature too well.
Darian's heart ached with a thousand tiny pains.
She was always so good, to the point that he felt every breath he took at that moment was a debt he owed her.
Darian clenched his fists and took a step.
Owen shouted angrily, "Stop him. He is not allowed to leave today."
Under no circumstances could he let Darian find Cecily again.
In an instant, the bodyguards at the door all came in, their tall figures completely blocking the entrance.
"Get out of my way," Darian, at this moment, was like an enraged lion, his gaze moving inch by inch, filled with endless coldness.
These were Owen's men; they only took orders from Owen.
"Mr. Darian Fitzgerald, apologies."
Darian didn't waste words with them. Since they wouldn't move, he would fight until they did.
As the heir of the Fitzgerald family, Darian had received the strictest training from a young age and had diligently practiced. Therefore, these guards were not his match on a regular day, let alone now.
Seeing the bodyguards all fall, the aura of hostility emanating from Darian made even Owen feel a chill.
Larkin came in from outside, startled by the scene in the ward.
"Boss? You?"
Darian glanced at Larkin, whose legs trembled, nearly causing him to kneel in fear.
Larkin held an unopened letter, left by Cecily.
Larkin tiptoed carefully over the people writhing on the ground, nervously handing over the letter.
"Boss, this was found at home by the maids while tidying up. It's from Miss Watson."
Darian's eyes flickered upon hearing Cecily's name. He wiped the blood off his hands onto his clothes before reaching out to take the letter.
Darian stiffly read each word. The handwriting wasn't hers, but it was in her usual tone.
She said not to argue with Owen for her sake, no matter how excessive Owen might be, it's all for his own good.
She said his acting was clumsy, that she had long seen through his intentions, but she didn't want him to do that.
She said all the debts between them were settled.
She said she was going to treat her eyes.
She said she would return.
She said for him to wait for her return.
After reading the letter, Darian tightly held the paper, his eyes filled with a bitter smile.
With emotions swirling inside him, Darian carefully folded the paper, as if preserving it as evidence for the future, and placed it securely into his pocket.
After doing all this, Darian suddenly felt dizzy and uncontrollably fell straight down.
No one expected that the man who had just been like a fierce beast would suddenly faint without warning.
Larkin, being the closest, quickly reached out to support Darian, only to find he had lost consciousness. "Mr. Darian Fitzgerald, what's wrong with him?"
Owen's clenched palms were wet with sweat. He suddenly looked at the forgotten Eliza, who seemed to have already fainted.
Vivienne had taken Cecily back to the Bennett family. Cecily woke up on the way, and Vivienne, heartbroken, scolded her for being a fool, saying she didn't know how to think for herself.
In terms of selfishness, Vivienne would have hoped the surgery went according to Darian's plan.
Only her foolish daughter had planned to sabotage it from the start.
Cecily leaned against Vivienne's shoulder like a child, jokingly saying, "Mom, I'm not stupid. I'm running away with all of Darian's money now, so I need to keep his eyes to earn more money for myself. I'm the smartest."
Vivienne was somewhat surprised. "He gave you all his assets?"
Cecily nodded. "Yes, all of them. So now I'm a rich woman."
Vivienne, hearing Cecily's joking tone, smiled with relief. Darian's willingness to take real action to give Cecily a sense of security was indeed beyond Vivienne's expectations.
After all, they were still divorced. For Darian to give all his assets to Cecily, how many men could do that?
"Mom, my eyes will get better. No matter how long it takes, I'm willing to wait."
Vivienne looked at Cecily's forced lighthearted smile and gently patted her shoulder, saying, "During this time, just stay with me and don't think about anything. We've already lined up at the hospital. We will wait for the day."
