Chapter 503 Please Let Me Go

Darian glanced in the direction Vivienne was heading and nodded. "I'll tell the people around her to keep an eye on her."

"Alright." The doctor said and then left, but Bryan stepped forward to stop him.

"Doctor, what happened to her just now? Is she feeling unwell?" Bryan asked anxiously.

The doctor sized Bryan up. "May I ask who you are to Ms. Bennett?"

Bryan pressed his lips together, his eyes showing a complex emotions. "I'm her husband. I just saw that she looked very uncomfortable. What's wrong with her?"

Seeing the genuine concern in Bryan's eyes, the doctor, who had seen him at the operating room door yesterday, decided to tell him. "If you have time, take her for a full-body check-up. Just by looking, I can't tell, but her physical condition doesn't seem good. A check-up will give you peace of mind."

Bryan listened to the doctor. "I will take her."

The doctor, noticing that Bryan rarely visited and seemed unaware of his wife's condition, assumed he was the type to prioritize work over family and decided to say a few more words, "Also, spend more time with her if you can. Your daughter is still not out of danger, and the fetus is gone. Before she fell unconscious, she was begging us to save the baby. If she wakes up and finds out the baby is gone, who knows how heartbroken she'll be."

Bryan's face was full of bitterness. He lowered his head and muttered to himself, "Cecily is not my daughter."

The doctor didn't catch what Bryan said and continued, "I don't know who could be so heartless to harm Cecily like this. It's truly inhumane. Her condition yesterday was extremely dangerous."

Recalling the scene of Cecily's massive bleeding in the operating room, the doctor couldn't help but say a few more words.

Bryan lowered his head, his lips trembling, and his guilt deepening.

"I am that inhumane person."

"What?"

"I said, I am that inhumane person." Bryan smiled bitterly, but his eyes reddened as he smiled.

The doctor was unsure of how to respond, and quickly left.

Darian called Desmond, who was close to Vivienne, to relay the doctor's words, then walked into Cecily's ward.

The room was eerily quiet, punctuated only by the occasional faint beeps of the nearby machines.

Darian bent down gently and brushed a stray lock of hair from Cecily's forehead. Her face was so pale that Darian couldn't help but feel that her skin was unnaturally cold to the touch.

Darian stared at her intently. "Today, Rowan and Griffin called me. Blaise probably told them I didn't lose my memory. They asked about you, said you weren't answering their calls, and asked what was wrong. I didn't know how to answer. Blaise is pretty smart. When he couldn't answer, he threw the problem back at me.

"So, when do you plan to wake up? Rowan and Griffin are very smart. If they don't hear from you soon, they'll probably make a fuss.

"I know you're pregnant, with our baby, one month along. It's okay, we'll have more as long as you wake up. We'll have more babies in the future.

"Actually, it doesn't matter if we don't have more babies. Having Rowan and Griffin is already great."

Darian held Cecily's cold hand, kissed it, and continued softly, "Cecily, once I handle everything, let's remarry. Whether you wake up or not, we'll remarry. I will only have you as my wife in this life.

"Do you agree?"

Even though he knew Cecily couldn't answer him, he still felt a bit nervous.

He stared at her for a long time, then wiped a warm tear from the corner of his eye. "If you don't say anything, I'll take it as a yes."

Darian lowered his head and gently kissed Cecily's forehead. "No take-backs."

Bryan searched for a long time before finding Vivienne crouched in a corner. Others had approached her, but she had refused them all.

Bryan ran over to support Vivienne.

Vivienne turned to see that familiar  face that she deeply hated.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Bryan recalled the doctor's words and saw Vivienne's pale face, becoming extremely anxious.

Vivienne gritted her teeth, stood up, and pushed Bryan's hand away, taking a step back in resistance.

"Vivienne?" Bryan stepped forward worriedly.

"Get lost." Vivienne's eyes, once indifferent, now showed complete hatred towards Bryan.

At this moment, Vivienne didn't want to see him at all. She feared she might lose control and kill him with a knife before killing herself.

Seeing her current state, Bryan didn't dare leave. Her face was very pale, and she was trembling all over.

Bryan chased after her and grabbed her arm. "Vivienne."

Vivienne forcefully shook off his hand.

"I told you to get lost. Don't you understand? I don't want to see you. I hate you. I hate you so much. Because of you, my life is a mess. Because of you, Cecily is still lying in a hospital bed. Because of you, her baby is gone. It's all because of you, Bryan. Why wasn't it you who got hurt? Why wasn't it you who died? Why do you still appear in front of me? How dare you still appear in front of me?"

Vivienne loudly questioned Bryan, continuously slapping and pushing him as he tried to control and hug her.

Watching Vivienne's emotional breakdown, Bryan felt as though a thousand needles were stabbing at his heart.

He dared not touch her, letting her unleash her anger and frustration without interference.

But Vivienne hadn't eaten anything since Cecily's accident yesterday morning. Now, despite her fury, the combination of physical exhaustion and stomach cramps left her too weak to exert much force.

When she was too tired to continue, Bryan picked her up. "Done hitting? If you're done, let's go get you checked."

Vivienne slapped Bryan twice on the face, gritting her teeth. "Let me go."

Bryan didn't do as she said. "Hit me, keep hitting. Even if you beat me to death today, this matter is non-negotiable."

Bryan had always known Vivienne's health wasn't good, which was why he was so anxious. Someone who had suffered from severe depression, long-term starvation, and attempted suicide couldn't be in good health.

Vivienne felt her life with Bryan was a huge tragedy. She closed her eyes, tears sliding down her cheeks. "Bryan, I'm dying. Please let me go."
