Chapter 166 Deal with Cecily
Ophelia had only lost too much blood, but with timely medical attention, her life was not in danger.
Tristan and Tabitha hurriedly rushed to the hospital, and upon seeing their daughter covered in injuries in the ward, Tabitha screamed and threw herself at Ophelia, tears instantly streaming down her face as she trembled and held Ophelia's hand. "Ophelia? Ophelia! Who did this? Who did this?"
Tristan was trembling with anger.
His precious baby, held in the palm of his hand, had been harmed in such a way that Tristan wished he could immediately kill the perpetrator.
"Someone come, investigate this for me!" Tristan roared angrily at his subordinates. "We must find this scoundrel. I will never let him go."
He was determined to expose the culprit and make them suffer a thousandfold.
Darian walked to the doorway, halting his steps upon hearing the furious shouts from inside. A cold look flashed in his eyes.
Their daughter was not even in critical condition, yet they were already shouting for violence inside.
How painful must Cecily's heart be when facing Rowan's life-threatening situation?
Indeed, one would never know what pain feels like until it strikes them.
"Mr. Fitzgerald?" Seeing Darian stop, Larkin cautiously reminded him.
"Have those assassins been dealt with?"
"Not yet."
"Go, make them reveal the organization behind them."
Larkin immediately understood Darian's intention.
Darian intended to continue investigating.
However...
"Mr. Fitzgerald, it seems that Mr. Fitzgerald Sr. would intervene." Mr. Fitzgerald Sr. had already gotten involved and first had Anais secretly assist, then had Anais come forward to take the blame.
Clearly, Mr. Fitzgerald Sr. was protecting the real culprit, wanting to bring an end to this matter and prohibiting Darian from further investigation.
"And what if he does? Regardless, find this person for me."
His voice was cold. His resolute tone left no room for argument.
Evidence was needed for this matter.
Cecily, this insane woman, needed evidence.
After giving his orders, Darian walked in.
Upon seeing Darian enter with an aura of coldness, Tabitha and Tristan looked at him.
Tabitha immediately stood up and approached Darian, asking, "Darian, tell me, who did this to Ophelia?"
Darian glanced at Ophelia with cold eyes and replied, "I don't know."
Tristan frowned and asked, "You were there at the scene, and you didn't notice anything?"
"No," Darian replied.
Darian remained expressionless, his voice calm, showing no signs of anything unusual.
Larkin discreetly glanced at their boss.
Well, Mr. Fitzgerald was quite good at lying.
"Help...don't kill me...ahh..." Ophelia, lying on the sickbed, started talking in her sleep. After a loud scream, she abruptly opened her eyes, filled with fear and panic.
"Ophelia? Ophelia, I'm here, don't be afraid," Tabitha immediately walked over, grabbed Ophelia's hand, and tenderly comforted her, her face filled with concern.
"Mom?"
"Dad?"
Tristan also quickly approached, saying, "Dad is here."
Ophelia stared with terrified eyes, seeing her parents, and she immediately burst into tears, "Mom, Dad...Cecily wants to kill me. She wants to kill me. Save me, Mom, Dad, save me..."
Tristan narrowed his eyes dangerously and asked, "Cecily did this?"
"Yes, she wants to kill me, Mom, Dad, hurry and kill her. I don't want to die. Please save me..."
Ophelia seemed frightened, her gaze frantic as she desperately clutched the bedsheets and pleaded.
Tristan clenched his fist, the sound of his knuckles cracking, and said, "Cecily, what a piece of work. Don't worry, she can't hurt you. I'll have someone capture her."
Tristan turned to leave, but Darian calmly stood in his way, raising his hand to stop Tristan.
Tristan's expression grew colder as he faced Darian, and he asked firmly, "That woman caused Ophelia's injury like this, and you still want to defend her?"
Darian's eyes filled with coldness, and his voice, devoid of warmth, replied, "The situation isn't clear yet."
"Not clear? Darian!" Tristan shouted angrily, "Ophelia clearly stated that Cecily did it. Isn't that clear enough? How much more clarity do you need?"
"Right now, Rowan is in the intensive care unit. Cecily claims it was your daughter who did it. Can I also act on Cecily's word alone and kill your daughter for revenge?"
Suddenly, Tristan hesitated for a moment, his eyes darting around before he immediately reacted and retorted, "This is ridiculous. Just because she said, it doesn't make it true. You know very well that she's not on good terms with Ophelia. This is slander. Let her produce evidence. Otherwise, she should stop slandering people."
Darian coldly curled his lip and indifferently uttered a few words, "The same goes for you."
The Flores family froze simultaneously.
Ophelia's voice was weak, looking at Darian pitifully, "Darian, it really is her. Don't you believe me?"
Darian's icy gaze swept toward Ophelia, landing on her pale and feeble face. "You claim it was Cecily who did it. Let me ask you, why would she do such a thing?"
"Because..." Ophelia pursed her lips, and tears welled up in her eyes, falling down like pearls. "Because Cecily said I have harmed her child, but I really didn't... Darian, I had no idea she even had a son. How could I have had the opportunity to harm him?"
"I don't know why she insists it was me. Is it just because of the grudges between us? Does that mean everything bad that happens to her is my doing?"
Ophelia's words were urgent and resentful. Despite her weak voice, her tone was incredibly decisive, as if she desperately needed someone to believe her.
Her teary eyes looked at Darian, blurred with a mist, "Darian, believe me, I really didn't harm her child. But she is truly harming me. She wanted me to bleed to death by inserting that knife into my leg."
She spoke so sincerely, but it all came down to just two sentences.
'I didn't harm her. She is truly harming me.'
It sounded so innocent.
Darian's gaze became even more profound under his intense gaze, and Ophelia's expression on her face subtly changed, though she continued to hold Darian's gaze in an affectedly calm manner.
Tabitha spoke up, "Darian, both Ophelia and I are saying this. If it's really not Cecily, would Ophelia still protect the actual culprit and falsely accuse Cecily?"
Tabitha's heart was filled with pain and urgency. At this moment, she wished she could rush over and strangle Cecily.
Darian's expression remained cold, without any sign of emotion, leaving it unknown whether he believed them or not.
It wasn't until Darian left that Ophelia covered her face and started crying helplessly, "Mom, Dad, why doesn't Darian believe me?"
Tristan clenched his teeth fiercely, "It's not that he doesn't believe her, finding evidence is just a facade, pro-tecting Cecily is the real motive."
At this moment, Darian knew better than anyone else what he was doing. He was just protecting Cecily, nothing more.
Ophelia became even sadder when she heard this. She had suffered so much and almost died, yet Darian was still protecting the murderer, Cecily.
She was feeling close to despair now.
Tabitha quickly patted Ophelia's back, consoling her, "Don't cry, don't worry. We will never let Cecily get away with it. She hurt you and must pay a painful price. We will capture her and let you torture her."
"Is that true?" Ophelia looked up.
"It's true. You are my daughter. Why should you be bullied?" Tristan assured Ophelia as well.
Ophelia felt a little better in her heart and nodded vigorously.
Once she captured Cecily, she would make sure Cecily suffered a hundred times the pain she had endured.
As Darian walked out of the hospital room, his phone rang. Looking at the number displayed on the screen, Darian's expression darkened.
He hung up, not answering the call.
A few seconds later, Larkin's phone rang.
Larkin nervously swallowed and instantly felt the pressure. "Mr. Fitzgerald, it's a call from Mr. Fitzgerald Sr.."
Darian furrowed his brow. "Hang up."
"What?" Larkin was on the verge of tears.
Even if he had ten times the courage, he wouldn't dare to hang up on Mr. Fitzgerald Sr. Moreover, with Mr. Fitzgerald Sr.'s strong temperament, not answering his call might result in him flying over tomorrow.
"Mr. Fitzgerald, you know Mr. Fitzgerald Sr.'s temper..."
Darian glanced at him.
Larkin hung up.
Hmm, he understood Boss's character better.
A few minutes later, a bodyguard hurriedly approached, nervously saying, "Mr. Fitzgerald, Mr. Fitzgerald Sr. just called and said if you don't deal with Miss Cecily, he will."
