Chapter 205 The Elusive Truth from the Past
Landon narrowed his eyes and loosened his grip on Ophelia's neck.
"Tell me," he demanded.
Ophelia clenched her teeth.
"Back then, I hired those thugs to get rid of the child and frame Cecily. However, I didn't have time to pay them. Someone else paid for me. Do you know what that means?"
Landon furrowed his brow.
"Someone else?"
"Yes. After this happened, do you think Darian didn't investigate? He did, and the result surprised him and me. The account that made the payment was Cecily's."
Landon furrowed his brows even tighter. He clearly didn't believe her. "Are you asking me to believe that because you want me to get rid of Cecily on purpose?"
"Hahaha..." Ophelia laughed madly. "You don't believe me? I didn't believe it at first, either. So, I deliberately sent someone with Cecily's photo to ask them. They recognized her immediately as the person who approached them."
"The police also investigated this, you know? They asked the thugs to describe the person. The sketch artist drew Cecily. All three thugs described her."
In other words, those three people had seen Cecily before, so their descriptions couldn't be lies.
"It's these pieces of evidence that convinced Darian. Otherwise, do you think I could really be seamless, without leaving any clues, and deceive Darian and Owen?"
"I did it so seamlessly because it was the truth."
"Hahaha... She always pretends to be so kind, but in reality, she's more venomous than anyone. She's better at disguising than anyone."
Every word Ophelia said at this moment was true.
She was genuinely surprised and relieved back then.
She was surprised that Cecily had actually intended to take her child's life.
She was relieved that she had prepared herself.
Ophelia knew she wasn't a good person, but neither was Cecily.
How much she loved her own children, but other people's child were nothing in her eyes.
Landon narrowed his eyes, and a hint of darkness flashed in his eyes.
"You still don't believe me, do you?"
Ophelia coldly smiled and continued, disregarding him. "Heh, yes, I even suspected that there might be another person trying to frame Cecily until I found a surveillance video later."
Ophelia took out her phone and played the video saved in her photo album.
"If it weren't for this video, I wouldn't have believed that she was such a wicked woman."
Landon watched the video inside.
In the video, a pregnant woman was talking to three thugs. Since they were far from the surveillance camera, it was not clear what they were saying.
Although the volume was turned up to the maximum, Landon could still faintly hear the woman's fierce voice, "I want Ophelia and her unborn child dead."
After the woman hurriedly finished speaking, she asked them to leave and then walked back herself. The face under the surveillance camera gradually became clear, and it was Cecily.
"Hahaha...hahaha..." Ophelia cried and laughed.
Her sorrowful laughter echoed in the grand banquet hall. "Isn't it unbelievable? I also find it unbelievable!"
This surveillance video was taken before the incident.
However, she obtained it later.
She never showed this video to Darian.
At that time, she believed that Cecily was already dead. Since she was a dead person who was no longer relevant, why let Darian see it? She also didn't want Darian to be reminded of Cecily.
Fortunately, she kept this video in her private album on her phone. Unexpectedly, it was used five years later.
Landon clenched his fists. Without this video, he wouldn't have believed Ophelia's words. With so many things happening, Ophelia's hatred toward Cecily had reached its peak. He thought Ophelia wanted him to get rid of Cecily, so she made up the lie.
Until he saw this video.
The person in the video was indeed Cecily. It couldn't be faked.
At that time, everything had already been resolved, and Ophelia had no reason to create a fake video and keep it on her phone for five years.
Anger surged in his heart at this moment.
Ophelia noticed the hatred in his eyes. She still knew Landon to some extent. At that time, he wanted this child.
She grabbed Landon's collar forcefully. "Landon, Darian won't let me go. He will come after me as soon as he has the chance."
"Help me, help me kill Cecily. If something goes wrong, I'll take full responsibility. Can you do that? Not just for me, for the sake of our child, please."
Landon held onto Ophelia's arm and looked deeply into her eyes. "Alright."
Ophelia's eyes flickered.
However, Landon continued, "I can help you, but the Flores Family and the Fitzgerald Family need to contribute as well. It's not just the Flores Family, but also the Fitzgerald's Family."
Landon wasn't a fool. He couldn't do this alone.
"The Fitzgerald's Family?"
"Right," Landon smirked, "Owen didn't want Cecily and Darian to be together and wanted to have two great-grandchildren. If Cecily was out of the picture, he would agree."
Having stayed in the banquet hall for so long, Landon had observed everyone, including the person standing in the side hall upstairs.
Blaise!
Landon smirked.
Tonight was truly interesting.
Ophelia narrowed her vindictive eyes.
With Landon's people, the Flores Family's people, and Owen's own people, she believed that they could definitely eliminate Cecily.
...
Cecily had already changed into a neat and convenient outfit in the rest lounge. She picked up the bag she had prepared in advance and quickly walked out.
In the past half month, she had handled all urgent matters of the company and left the rest to Aurelie. Just like before, Aurelie would manage the company on her behalf, and Cecily would send the formula to the perfume development department.
Cecily glanced at her watch. Blaise should have already left with the two children by now.
She entered the elevator and headed to the underground parking lot where her car was waiting.
Perhaps out of fear of unexpected events, Cecily's pace was extremely fast, not even one second of delay.
Seeing the two parked cars ahead, Cecily took a deep breath and quickened her pace to reach them.
Cassian was waiting for her in front, and upon seeing her, he immediately opened the car door. "Cecily, the boss asked me to pick you up."
"Let's go."
To ensure her safety, Blaise had assigned Cassian to her and arranged four bodyguards for her.
Cecily was about to get in the car when another car sped toward them. Cassian and the four bodyguards immediately switched to a defensive stance.
The car stopped, and Darian, dressed in a black suit, swung open the car door and stepped out. He strode toward Cecily, and instantly, dozens of Fitzgerald's Family bodyguards appeared around them, forcefully surrounding them.
Cecily glanced at Cassian, who was about to take action and stopped him.
With such a discrepancy in numbers, it was not appropriate to start a fight.
They couldn't make too much noise at the moment either.
Darian now felt remorse toward her, so at least he wouldn't do anything to her.
Darian approached with large strides and firmly grasped her delicate wrist with his powerful hand. "Give me a few minutes."
