Chapter 458 Pregnant
Cecily had just reached Vivienne's room when Aurelie stepped out.
She motioned to Cecily and quietly closed the door. "Aunt Vivienne wants to nap."
"Gary said my mom was really upset."
Aurelie sighed, linking arms with Cecily. "She was furious. I was so scared I paced outside for ages and didn't dare go in. Cecily, why don't Aunt Vivienne and your clueless dad just get a divorce?"
Cecily glanced at Aurelie.
Aurelie quickly raised her hand. "I don't mean to pry into Aunt Vivienne's feelings. It's just, with everything going on, even I'm mad as an outsider."
Cecily sighed, finding it a bit funny. "I don't know. Maybe Bryan loves my mom too much to divorce her."
Aurelie sighed and didn't say any more.
"How did your thing go? Didn't you go to Fitzgerald Manor?"
"It was okay," Cecily said, walking downstairs.
"What do you mean? Didn't you solve it? You guys had all the evidence. Owen can't be that blind."
Cecily replied, "He gets it, but that's his son."
Aurelie raised an eyebrow, understanding what had happened. "A thousand words can't compare to a son."
As they talked, Rowan and Griffin ran up, their little faces angry.
"Oh dear, look at those angry faces. What's wrong? Did you two fight?" Aurelie asked, bending down.
"Mommy, are you upset about how Great-Grandpa handled things? They let you get scolded online for so long, and Great-Grandpa just brushed it off," Griffin said angrily.
Cecily pressed her lips together. Even the kids saw Owen's handling of the situation as a brush-off.
She bent down to look at Rowan and Griffin. "I'm not upset anymore. Maybe Great-Grandpa has his reasons too."
Griffin asked, "Mommy, do you want to vent your anger?"
Cecily and Aurelie exchanged a glance, then looked at Griffin. "How do you plan to vent my anger?"
"Leave it to us."
With that, Rowan and Griffin ran upstairs, plotting something.
"You two..." Cecily wanted to stop them. Griffin was always full of ideas and trouble.
"Let them be," Aurelie laughed. "I'm curious to see what surprise they come up with."
Cecily shook her head. "Stay for dinner tonight."
"Sure, I don't have a home anyway, and I just broke up, so I have nowhere to go." Aurelie sat on the couch, peeling an orange and popping a segment in her mouth.
The orange was sour, but Aurelie liked it.
Cecily felt a pang in her heart when she heard Aurelie say she had no home and had just broken up.
"My place is your home. You can come here anytime. If you feel lonely, you can move in with us."
Aurelie hugged Cecily. "Thanks, Cecily, but moving in is a no-go. If my dad's family finds out I'm living in such a big house, they'll get jealous and cause trouble for you and Aunt Vivienne."
"There are bodyguards at the door."
"That's not enough. You haven't seen how shameless they can be," Aurelie said with a bitter smile.
When Raphael had called to scold Cecily before, Aurelie would fire back ten times harder because she knew you couldn't show mercy to people like him.
"Cecily, I envy you. You have a mom and a dad. Even though your dad's a bit of a jerk, if Aunt Vivienne told him you're his biological daughter, I bet he'd love you a lot."
Despite Bryan being a jerk, Aurelie believed if he knew Cecily was his real daughter, he'd cherish her deeply. Someone who could love an adopted daughter so much would definitely adore his own biological daughter, whom he had longed for nearly half his life.
Cecily wiped the tears from Aurelie's eyes. "Is your dad giving you trouble again?"
"No, he doesn't have the time. He's probably at some casino right now."
Cecily gently patted Aurelie's shoulder. "You don't have to worry about causing me trouble. Move in with us."
Aurelie shook her head. "No, don't try to persuade me."
"You're so stubborn," Cecily said, feeling helpless.
"Let's not talk about this. This orange is pretty good. Where did you get it? I'll go buy some more."
"I don't know who bought it, but it's quite sour. Don't you like sweet things? We have strawberries."
Aurelie ate a few more segments. "No, I think it's pretty good."
"I thought you didn't like sour things?"
Aurelie smiled. "Maybe my taste has changed."
"If you like it, I'll have someone move the whole box to your car later. You can take it home."
"Okay, I'll take it."
Cecily looked at Aurelie's forced lightheartedness and felt a bit worried.
At dinner time, since Aurelie often came over, Vivienne would instruct the chef to make extra dishes.
"Aurelie, have some more. Girls shouldn't just try to be thin. Have some more meat," Vivienne said, giving Aurelie a piece of fish.
"Thanks, Aunt Vivienne. I'm not thin. I've gained a few pounds from coming here every day."
"Good, it's better to be a bit chubby. Come over more often. I will always have food for you."
"Okay," Aurelie agreed, feeling warm inside.
Cecily smiled. "My mom dotes on you."
"Of course, it's because we're best friends." Aurelie smiled at Cecily, then put the fish in her mouth, but suddenly, she spat it out.
Vivienne and the others were stunned.
Aurelie clutched her chest. "Sorry, I..."
She covered her mouth and quickly ran to the bathroom.
Vivienne and the others paused. Griffin swallowed his food and asked, "What's wrong with Godmother?"
"Yeah, she was eating fine, why did she suddenly throw up?" Vivienne was puzzled.
"Mom, you all continue eating. I'll go check on her."
Cecily put down her utensils and quickly went to the bathroom.
Aurelie threw up for a while before she felt a bit better. Cecily handed her two tissues with concern. "Are you okay?"
"I don't know. I've been like this for the past few days. Maybe it's a stomach problem. Don't worry, you go back and eat.
"Cecily, I'm still young. There's no way I have a terminal illness, right?"
Cecily looked at Aurelie, then asked seriously, "How long has it been since your last period?"
"My period? I didn't get it last month, the month before, or this month! Cecily, am I going through menopause?"
