Chapter 347 He Didn't Want to Remarry Her, She Understood
The car drove smoothly.
"When do you plan to go back to Silver Frost Capital?" Cecily asked Darian after a moment of silence.
Cecily used "you" instead of "we."
Darian raised an eyebrow slightly, "You want to stay here? Not come home with me?"
Cecily's hands, resting on her knees, clenched slightly.
She wanted to stay a bit longer to accompany Vivienne.
However, when he mentioned the word "home," ripples stirred in her heart. In that home, there were her two precious sons.
Rowan and Griffin couldn't stay away from her for long, and she missed them dearly.
She had considered bringing them over to stay with the Bennett family for a while. After all, her mother hadn't even met her two grandsons yet.
But knowing how upset Owen already was about Darian moving out with her, bringing Rowan and Griffin to live with the Bennett family would probably drive Owen to his breaking point. He might very well come wielding a knife to take them back.
Cecily didn't want any more unpleasantness.
So she was quite troubled.
Sighing, she said, "Forget it, let's talk about it later. I haven't decided yet."
"If you want to stay, I can bring the kids over."
Cecily was a bit surprised, thinking Darian was being unusually agreeable. He had never been like this before.
Cecily pressed her lips into a smile and shook her head helplessly. "That would probably drive Owen crazy."
No joke, with Owen's temperament, he might really come to take the kids.
"Are you still afraid of him?"
"I'm afraid it will cause a lot of trouble."
"If you want, I'll handle Owen."
Darian gently squeezed Cecily's hand.
Cecily leaned against Darian's arm and said, "Things have just calmed down. Let's leave it for now. By the way, what do you plan to do with Eliza?"
"I still need her for something. Don't worry about it. Your main focus should be on recovering." Darian looked down at Cecily leaning on his shoulder, then kissed her forehead softly.
"Okay." Cecily sighed.
"Are you tired? Do you want to take a nap?"
"No, are we almost at the hospital?"
"Almost."
"The doctor will come to change my dressing soon, so I won't sleep now."
Back at the hospital, in the ward, a nurse came in just as Darian gently placed Cecily back on the bed and took off her shoes, being extra careful with every step.
"Do you want some water?" Darian asked gently.
Cecily was feeling a bit thirsty, "Sure."
"Miss Watson, please wait a moment, the doctor will come soon," the nurse said while handling the medicine bottles.
"Okay."
The nurse couldn't help but comment, "Miss Watson, you're so lucky. We've never seen a man as attentive and patient as your husband in all our time here. Last night, during rounds, we saw him sitting by your side the whole time. He probably didn't sleep a wink."
Cecily was slightly surprised. Did Darian stay with her all night?
"Thank you, but he's not my husband. We're divorced."
Darian returned with a cup of water just in time to hear Cecily's conversation with the nurse. He didn't say anything.
The two nurses looked embarrassed, having assumed they were a couple. One of them hesitantly asked, "You seem to have a good relationship. Are you planning to remarry?"
Handing the cup to Cecily, Darian warned her to be careful of the heat, then said, "Not for now."
Cecily took a sip of the tea and paused.
Darian said they weren't planning to remarry, which surprised her for a moment, but she quickly accepted it.
She was blind now, and whether she could regain her sight in the future was still uncertain. He was the future heir of the Fitzgerald family, and if word got out that his wife was a blind disabled person, it wouldn't sound good.
Darian's wife couldn't have such imperfections.
So, she understood why he didn't want to remarry her now.
The two nurses exchanged glances, feeling awkward for their presumptuousness. They had thought they could help bring them back together, but it turned out they had no plans to remarry.
They could see that Darian loved Cecily deeply; that kind of love was evident in his eyes and couldn't be faked.
But they were divorced and had no plans to remarry.
Why was that?
Was it because Cecily was blind, so he didn't want to remarry her?
Probably.
The nurses returned to their tasks, retracting their earlier positive impression of Darian. Even if he loved Cecily, he ultimately couldn't accept her imperfection.
Darian took the cup Cecily had drunk from and set it aside. Looking at her, he said softly, "I haven't done enough to make her agree to be my wife again."
Cecily looked up slightly.
"When she's truly willing to give me another chance, we will remarry," Darian's voice was gentle and magnetic, captivating.
The two nurses couldn't help but smile as they listened.
Alright, they had misunderstood him earlier.
Seeing that they had more to say, one of the nurses cleverly said, "Let's go check why the doctor hasn't come yet."
With that, they hurried out, leaving the private space for Darian and Cecily.
Cecily pursed her lips, "You don't have to force yourself to say these things."
Darian nodded, "Before saying these things, there's indeed something I need to do."
"What?"
At that moment, Larkin returned after dropping off Owen.
"Just in time. I need you to list all my assets, excluding the Fitzgerald Group shares, and have the list ready by tomorrow evening."
Larkin's brain froze for a moment, "Boss, what are you listing your assets for?"
Could it be that he's planning to liquidate everything and elope with Cecily just to spite Owen?
"Yeah, why are you listing your assets? To show off?" Cecily was also curious.
"To give to you."
"To me? Are you kidding?" Cecily couldn't believe her ears.
Darian held her hand, "I'm not kidding."
Cecily was shocked and quickly pulled her hand back, "No, don't do this. I'll pretend I didn't hear that."
Darian's assets were enormous. Giving them to her? What a joke.
"Go do it," Darian ordered Larkin.
Larkin had no choice but to comply, but with so many assets, one day wouldn't be enough to list them all.
Cecily quickly pressed Darian's hand, "Don't be impulsive. We're already divorced. What if I take your money and run? Where would you go to cry?"
"It's meant for you. You don't need to run."
Cecily's mouth twitched, "Darian, what has gotten into you today?"
"Aside from the Fitzgerald Group shares, this is everything I have. It's my compensation for the past three years, including myself."
The money was compensation, and so was he.
