Chapter 406 Maybe You Should Call Him Father
"Before..." Cecily looked at the ceiling and thought for a moment. "You used to be quite bad and a bit of a rogue."
"How bad?"
Cecily lightly smiled and said, "It's been so long. I don't even know where to start."
"Seems like I did a lot of bad things before."
Cecily chuckled softly. "More than a lot."
"Pick a few and tell me."
Darian seemed particularly interested in the past today.
Cecily gave him a deep look. Those sad memories, she really didn't know where to begin. "The past is irretrievable. Let's not talk about it."
Seeing her mood drop when he mentioned the past, Darian guessed that he might have been so bad before that it made her sad just to bring it up.
The past was irretrievable, but the future could still be learned from.
He guessed that he must have been so bad before, which was why he later tried to make it up to her in every way possible.
"And what about being a rogue? Is that so?"
The next second, Cecily's whole body stiffened.
She quickly grabbed Darian's hand that was on her. She was still naked from last night.
"Darian!"
Darian chuckled lightly, a bit mischievously.
Cecily, furious and her face turning red, pushed him away. "Indeed, even with amnesia, a rogue's nature can't be changed."
"It can't be changed." He chuckled lowly, his mischievous hand not stopping.
It was absolutely shameless.
Cecily tilted her head back and bit his chin hard. "If you dare..."
Before she could finish, Darian lowered his head and kissed her lips. Unlike last night's wildness, this kiss was full of tenderness.
Cecily panted lightly. "Darian, it's morning."
"So what if it's morning?"
He retorted, kissing her lips bit by bit. "Still sleepy? If not, let's go again."
"I'm sleepy."
"Doesn't look like it."
Her lips were kissed again, and Cecily's breathing became erratic.
At that moment, she suddenly remembered something and pushed against his strong chest. "Tell me, how did you spend the past year without me?"
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean." Cecily glared at him, very serious. "Don't avoid my question."
Darian chuckled and answered, "Alone."
Cecily didn't believe it. Darian was a normal man with normal needs, and he was surrounded by beautiful women. Not to mention the ones she saw in the Fitzgerald Group lobby, just his secretary Freya, with that body and face, could be considered a stunner.
'Could Darian really resist temptation?' she wondered.
"Don't believe me?"
Cecily looked at him.
Darian's smile deepened, his eyes unwavering. "I can't help it. I only have feelings for you."
Cecily's face stiffened, and her cheeks instantly turned red.
Seeing Cecily's face turn as red as fire, Darian chuckled softly and asked, "Do you still want to hear what you asked me to say?"
Cecily bit her lip, too embarrassed to want to hear another word.
Suddenly, Darian flipped over, pinning her beneath him. "Let's go again."
The man in front of her was loosely wearing a dark bathrobe, his strong, broad chest faintly visible, his healthy tan skin, and well-proportioned muscles, exuding the charm of a mature man with every breath.
Cecily's eyes trembled slightly as she bit her lip. Her gaze met Darian's, and in her moment of hesitation, her body made the choice for her. She lifted her chin and kissed him.
Cecily's initiative brought a surprised smile to Darian's lips, and he deepened the kiss without hesitation.
Holding the soft and fragrant Cecily in his arms, gradually, the emptiness in his heart was filled.
The two of them slept until noon without any surprise.
When Darian got up and saw Cecily still asleep, he didn't disturb her.
When Cecily suddenly sat up from her sleep, there was no one beside her. She groggily rubbed her head, not forgetting that Vivienne had called and asked her to bring Darian back to see her.
"Oh no."
At that moment, the door opened.
Sandra wheeled herself in.
Cecily was about to get up but quickly pulled the blanket to cover herself.
"Cecily."
"Mrs. Fitzgerald."
Sandra glanced at Cecily, a meaningful smile in her eyes. "I came to call you down for lunch."
"Where's Darian?"
"He had a meeting today, but he changed it to a video conference to stay home with you. He's in the study now."
"Okay," Cecily responded, and Sandra noticed the dense kiss marks on her shoulder, which were quite suggestive.
"Darian is quite the beast," she remarked.
Cecily wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
Sandra knew she was embarrassed and didn't say anything more, turning to leave.
Cecily quickly washed up and changed into the clothes that had been prepared for her, then went downstairs.
Vivienne, who had been waiting at home for Cecily, instead met an old acquaintance she hadn't seen in years.
Wade Grant was dressed in a simple dark coat. The gray at his temples and the few wrinkles at the corners of his eyes were marks left by time, but even so, his chiseled features still hinted at the handsomeness of his youth.
Wade looked at Vivienne, his eyes gentle, exuding the same elegant and amiable aura as always.
Vivienne was stunned, her pupils somewhat unfocused. "Wade?"
Seeing Wade in front of her, she unconsciously stood up.
Everything around them seemed to freeze.
In Vivienne's eyes was the reflection of Wade's warm and elegant smile.
Wade kept looking at her.
"Vivienne, long time no see."
Vivienne's usually calm eyes were now filled with tears.
Her dry lips trembled slightly.
At that moment, she didn't know what expression to put on. How long had it been since they last met?
She couldn't remember.
Maybe ten years, or maybe decades.
It had really been too long.
After a long while, a bitter smile appeared on her face.
"Long time no see."
Wade raised his hand slightly and asked, "Aren't you going to invite me to sit?"
Vivienne took a deep breath, turned her head to wipe away the tears at the corners of her eyes, and invited Wade to sit down. She then instructed the servant to bring the tea he used to love.
"Try it."
Wade picked up the cup, took a sip, and nodded. "You still remember."
"You liked the freshness and clarity of this tea. I didn't expect that after all these years, it hasn't changed."
"Maybe I just like this taste." Wade smiled gently and finished the coffe in one gulp. "How have you been all these years? Has Bryan treated you well?"
Vivienne nodded. "Everything's fine. Where have you been all these years? And how did you find me?"
Wade put down the cup in his hand and replied, "After leaving Detroit, I've been at Silver Frost Capital all these years. I heard about the Bennett family’s real and fake heiress incident a year ago and knew you had returned. I originally wanted to visit you then."
"Then why didn't you come?"
Wade smiled helplessly, lowering his eyes.
Vivienne's gaze darkened. Seeing his expression, she understood everything.
With Bryan's domineering nature, how could he allow Wade even a chance to get close to her?
Vivienne's eyes trembled slightly, filled with guilt, not knowing what to say. "How have you been all these years?"
"Like you, everything's fine. As you suggested back then, I got married, had children, and everything's fine."
Vivienne looked at him and nodded lightly. "That's good, as long as everything's fine."
"What about Cecily? I remember the last time I saw her at Silver Frost Capital, she was just a baby."
"She's a mother now, of two children."
Wade nodded happily for them. "Seeing that you're all well, I can be at ease. Does Bryan know that Cecily is his daughter?"
Vivienne's gaze turned cold, her brows frosty. "He doesn't deserve to know, nor does he deserve to be Cecily's father."
"Do you still resent him?"
Vivienne chuckled lightly, curling her fingers into her palm. "Forcing me to marry him, driving you out of Detroit, imprisoning me for over a decade, shouldn't I hate him?"
"This life between him and me is over. He won't let me go, and I won't forgive him. He wants a child, but I will never tell him that Cecily is his daughter."
Wade looked at her, and after a long silence, he lowered his head and sighed softly. "You're punishing him, but you're also torturing yourself, Vivienne. Maybe if you tell him about Cecily, the knot in your hearts will be untied."
Vivienne clenched her palm. She understood this reasoning too.
But she was unwilling.
Too much hatred had piled up, suffocating her. Cecily was her greatest revenge against Bryan.
Cecily had just finished eating at the Fitzgerald family and hurriedly dragged Darian back to Vivienne's place.
As soon as the car stopped, Cecily saw Bryan standing motionless under a tree.
She didn't know how long he had been standing there, not even noticing the leaves that had fallen on his shoulders.
Darian noticed Cecily had stopped, so he stopped as well.
Bryan saw them too, but after just one glance, he indifferently looked away and continued standing there.
Cecily knew why he was there, but Vivienne didn't want to see him.
Cecily sneered, thinking to herself, 'If you knew this would happen, why did you do what you did back then?'
"Let's go inside." Just as they were about to go in, Wade slowly walked out from inside.
Cecily paused, and Wade had already walked up to her, giving her a gentle smile. "You must be Cecily, right?"
Cecily didn't remember knowing him, thinking he must be a friend of Vivienne's. She nodded. "I am. And you are?"
"Perhaps you should call him father." Bryan's cold and extremely sarcastic voice sounded from behind.
