Chapter 82 Changing Griffin's Bandages; His Cover Could be Exposed

Darian had no appetite for breakfast, and after instructing his staff to take Griffin to school, he headed straight to the office.

Seated in the front row, Larkin just finished a call from the hospital. He turned to Darian and informed him, "Mr. Fitzgerald, the hospital called. Your mother woke up and she's asking to see you."

Darian massaged his temples and responded, "Tell her to focus on her recovery, and inform her about this morning's incident. Extend her hospital stay by another two months. She can only come back when she changes her attitude toward Rowan. If she continues with her current demeanor toward Rowan, she can spend the holidays in the hospital."

Larkin's expression shifted when he heard the words coming out of Darian's mouth as he thought to himself, 'Is he really that harsh with his own mother?'

He quickly snapped out of his thoughts and replied, "Yes, Mr. Fitzgerald."

Griffin arrived at school, chatting on the phone with Cecily about the morning's drama at the Fitzgerald's while skipping into the building with his backpack bouncing on his back.

Cecily was slightly astonished after hearing what Griffin said. Darian actually punished Ophelia for the sake of the child.

This was something Cecily had never anticipated, making her wonder if Rowan was that important in Darian's heart.

She had assumed Ophelia was Darian's true love and couldn't fathom why Darian could bear punish her.

Cecily was now thoroughly confused about Darian's motives.

"Mummy, what's wrong? Why have you stopped talking?"
Cecily snapped back from her reverie and promptly replied, "Nothing, honey. Mummy was just thinking about something. Are you getting along at Rowan's school?"

"Don't worry Mum. Remember who I am. I can fit in anywhere."

Cecily smiled faintly. Her son was indeed exceptionally lively and was able to make friends wherever he went.

However, she was slightly concerned about Rowan. Having grown up by Darian's side, Rowan was more composed and reserved, and didn't seem very communicative.

Children ultimately needed to be raised by their own parent, and now that Griffin had secured Darian's stability, she had to plan when to bring Rowan back home. She couldn't let the child live abroad forever.

Upon arriving at the office, Cecily had barely touched her chair when Aurelie burst in, flurried and bumping heavily against the door in her haste.

Cecily watched on with a light tug at the corner of her lip as she said to Aurelie, "Take it easy..."

"Don't worry, I'm not hurt."

Cecily glanced at her and sarcastically said, "I'm worried about the door."

Aurelie was speechless. She pursed her lips and placed the document down. After which she turned her head away haughtily. "Hmph, then I'm leaving."

Cecily curved her lips into a smile, trying to coax Aurelie, "All right, does it hurt?"

Aurelie touched her elbow and said, "A bit but that's not the point. I just couldn't wait to come and tell you the good news."

Cecily pulled her attention away from the computer screen and looked at Aurelie. "So you've wrapped up the endorsement deal with Lucinda Sinclair?"

"Yeah, we offered a high fee for the endorsement, and they were pleased. We can sign the contract tomorrow. How's that for speed?"

Cecily nodded as acknowledgment. "Not bad." She hadn't expected Aurelie to settle the deal so quickly, especially since Flores's Group was in talks with the famed actress as well.

This thought caused Cecily's brow to furrow, arousing her suspicion as it all seemed a tad too easy.

Aurelia added, "Actually, it's not that surprising. She and I were friends in college, we have a bit of a history, and frankly, the fee we're offering is irresistible."

Cecily had indeed invested a hefty sum.

Cecily blinked slowly as she asked, "You went to the same college? So, she and Elysia might also know each other?"

Aurelie sat down, her expression growing serious. "What are you getting at?"

"I just think this all came together a little too easily. Lucinda didn't have to pass up working with a big company like Flores's Group to quickly agree with us just because of a personal connection."

Hearing Cecily put it that way darkened Aurelie's expression a bit as Cecily's point was valid.

Cecily frowned and continued, "Anyway, it's always good to be cautious. Ophelia and Elysia see our company as a competitor. They wouldn't let us succeed so easily on the same deal."

"Got it, I'll be extra vigilant tomorrow."

Cecily nodded. "Good. Oh, and how about you come over to my place for dinner tonight?"

"Oh, yes, please! I haven't seen Griffin in days. Let's head over together after work."

"It's just the two of us for dinner. Griffin is over at Darian's place."

"What?" Aurelie, who was about to head out, abruptly turned back to face Cecily. "Griffin was taken back by Darian? When did that happen?"

"No, it's not like that. Griffin went to Fitzgerald's house on his own..." Cecily explained the events of the previous night to Aurelie.

After hearing the whole story, Aurelie gave a thumbs up to Cecily and her son, saying, "You two are really bold."

"But it seems like Griffin is quite familiar with the Fitzgerald household, almost too familiar for it to be his first visit," Cecily said, puzzled.

"Let's not focus on that now. As long as Griffin goes unnoticed, all is well."

"Darian didn't suspect anything last night, so he should remain undiscovered for a while," Cecily said, trying to convince herself.

After work, Cecily and Aurelie went grocery shopping together, planning to cook at home.

Meanwhile, chaos ensued in the Fitzgerald household's living room.

It was time to change Rowan's bandages on the back of his head today, and as soon as Griffin returned home, several family doctors converged on him, intending to change his dressing.

However, Griffing couldn't allow it to happen as it would expose his cover.

Griffin shielded his head and dashed around the house, displaying agitation and resistance, despite the family doctors' efforts to calm him down.

Declan and Hayden had come to visit Darian today and found themselves in the thick of it, trying to calm Griffin with no luck as he ran circles around everyone in the Fitzgerald household.

Declan had no choice but to call Darian back, who was still at the office.

"What's going on?" Darian asked

Darian looked up to see Griffin barefoot and perched on the windowsill. "Is that safe? Count to three, and then come down by yourself."

Griffin turned a deaf ear.

Darian asserted once more, "I'm telling you one last time, come down."

Griffin didn't budge an inch.

"What's your plan if you're not getting the bandage changed? Sitting up there, who are you trying to intimidate?"

Griffin pursed his lips at his father's words. It wasn't that he didn't want the bandage changed; he was scared to let them do it. He wasn't trying to threaten anyone; he was the one about to be caught.

Finally, Griffin spoke up, "I don't want to and I don't want the doctor to do it. I won’t have it changed!"

Darian took a few steps forward.

Griffin watched Darian approach with a wary look, shrinking back slightly.

'What is he up to? Is he about to hit me?' Griffin thought.
