Chapter 700 The Turn of Events

Imogen snatched the ring from Cecily's hand and tried to put it on her own finger, but it got stuck at the knuckle.

The ring's size was smaller than her finger, so she couldn't put it on, no matter how hard she tried.

"How is this possible!" Imogen's eyes widened in panic.

"This can't be; how can it not fit?" Imogen tried different fingers, but only her pinky could fit, and even then, it was too loose.

Imogen looked at Giselle in a panic.

Giselle became even more anxious than Imogen and grabbed Imogen's finger, trying to force the ring on, but no matter how hard she tried, it was useless, and Imogen kept crying out in pain.

Everyone was stunned.

What did it mean that the ring couldn't fit Imogen's finger?

It meant that the ring didn't belong to Imogen at all!

Cecily snatched the ring back and easily slipped it onto her own finger.

Everyone was even more shocked.

Cecily looked coldly at the few people who had been so arrogant just moments ago. "Do you still dare to say the ring is yours?"

The three of them were speechless, as if their throats were being choked.

"This ring really belongs to Ms. Bennett. Miss Fairfax said she often wore this ring, but she couldn't even put it on, so it can't be hers."

"What a joke! Is Imogen kidding? After all this time, the ring isn't hers but Ms. Bennett's."

"No way, this ring is mine." Imogen couldn't believe such a bizarre situation.

She had clearly taken the ring off her own hand and secretly put it into Rowan's pocket, but in just over an hour, she couldn't put it on anymore?

Imogen had no idea what had happened and could only look at Giselle in a panic.

Giselle was also stunned.

Cecily displayed the ring in front of everyone. "Did everyone see clearly? I said this ring is mine. Does anyone have any objections?"

The scene fell silent, and the few people who had been causing a commotion were now mute.

Cecily looked at Giselle and the others. "I want to ask you all, why did my ring, which I put in my son's pocket, become yours when you found it? Are you so desperate for a ring that you claim any ring you see as yours? Do I need to show you the purchase proof to prove this ring is mine?"

Her words were full of authority, and the three people were still in a panic, completely clueless about what was happening.

Then Cecily turned to the police officers. "I don't know how I offended them. They accused my son of theft without any evidence and wanted to search him. When I refused, they wouldn't let me leave. Then they took the ring I put in my son's pocket, didn't even look at it, and insisted it was theirs. I don't know what they mean by this. Please help me get justice."

Giselle stared at Cecily, finally realizing that Cecily had done it on purpose. She must have seen through their plan long ago and placed her own ring in her son's pocket to trap them. No wonder Cecily had been so calm throughout.

"Cecily, you did this on purpose." Giselle grabbed Cecily's arm, her eyes red with anger.

"Giselle, why are you always against me? From the beginning, you gave me a fake invitation, trying to embarrass me before the party. Now you accuse my son of theft without any evidence. Giselle, we are family, aren't we? Why do you dislike me so much?" Cecily shook off Giselle's hand and grabbed her arm, questioning her loudly.

Giselle's chest heaved with anger, and she felt a chill all over.

In front of her was the aggressive Cecily, surrounded by onlookers, and a few police officers. Giselle tried to calm down.

The situation was very unfavorable for her. If this continued, she would become a joke tonight.

Giselle took a few deep breaths and finally forced a smile. "What are you talking about? The fake invitation was a mistake by the hotel staff. I didn't accuse you of theft at first. I found the ring on your child, and Imogen said it was hers. I was speaking up for you. It was just a misunderstanding."

Now she was shifting the blame.

Cecily cursed directly, "Shameless."

Giselle forced a smile and didn't argue with Cecily, wanting to resolve the situation quickly. "Since it's a misunderstanding, let's all disperse and not dwell on it."

Cecily was amused by Giselle's words.

When they accused them of theft, they wouldn't let them leave and swore they wouldn't let them off.

Now that they had failed, they wanted to brush it off.

Cecily shook off Giselle's hand and slapped her.

Giselle screamed, and she looked at Cecily in disbelief, covering her face.

Giselle's anger surged. "Cecily, how dare you hit me!"

"Why shouldn't I? Weren't you very tough just now? Didn't you say my son stole? Doesn't your lying mouth deserve a slap?" Cecily retorted.

"I've warned you many times, don't mess with me. Why don't you listen?" she added.

Giselle gritted her teeth. Cecily's slap was heavy, and her ear was ringing.

Cecily ignored her and looked at the others. "Since this matter has blown up, it can't be brushed off. My son was accused of being a thief, and I won't let you off. So today, you must give me an explanation."
