Chapter 387 Let Her Experience Falling Down the Stairs

Bryan listened to Cecily's words, feeling a breath stuck in his chest, neither up nor down.

Sam stood behind, silently lowering his head.

Cecily truly lived up to being Vivienne's daughter; her temper and manner of speaking were just like hers.

"It's all our fault. Please don't argue because of us." Jennifer sniffled, looking at Bryan.

"Bryan, Cecily is Vivienne's girl, the eldest daughter of the Bennett family. Naturally, she is a bit spoiled. It's okay for Freya to suffer some grievances. Please don't argue."

"Yes, Dad, I'm fine. The doctor said that being pushed down the stairs by Cecily only caused some bruises. Although it hurts, I'll be fine with some rest."

Freya bit her lip, reminding Bryan that the account of Cecily pushing her down the stairs was still unsettled.

After speaking, Freya stood up and walked towards Cecily, gently reaching out to hold her hand, looking pitiful.

"Cecily, about that necklace, I really didn't know you cared so much about it. I was just trying it on. If it bothers you, I can compensate you with another necklace."

As she spoke, Freya walked to the table, picked up a delicate gift box, and handed it to Cecily.

"This was a gift from Dad. I was reluctant to wear it, but now I'll give it to you as compensation. Cecily, I really didn't mean it. Please calm down."

Freya apologized while taking out the necklace and handing it to Cecily. "Cecily, look. It's really beautiful, isn't it?"

Cecily glanced at the necklace and asked, "If I don't accept it, will you all cry again and make me look aggressive and ungrateful?"

Freya's expression remained unchanged, looking ingratiating. "Cecily, this necklace is really nice. Try it on, and you'll like it. Here, let me help you."

She put down the box, seemingly ignoring Cecily's words, and moved to put the necklace around Cecily's neck.

Cecily's eyes were cold as she pushed away the necklace Freya handed over.

"Ah!"

Cecily merely pushed Freya's hand away, but Freya screamed, and the necklace fell to the ground. It was a top-grade Australian white pearl necklace, and as it hit the ground, the string broke, scattering pearls everywhere.

"Cecily, you..."

Freya looked at the scattered pearls, her face a mask of sorrow.

She squatted down to pick them up, looking extremely distressed.

Jennifer stepped forward, anxiously reprimanding, "Cecily, Freya sincerely offered her most cherished necklace. Even if you didn't like it, you didn't have to ruin it. This is too much."

Saying this, Jennifer went to help the kneeling Freya pick up the pearls. "Freya, stop picking them up, Freya..."

"I won't. This was a gift from Dad. If Cecily doesn't want it, I'll keep it myself," she said stubbornly and with grievance.

As she picked up the pearls, she began to cry softly, huddling on the ground, sniffling in a way that seemed both restrained and pitiful.

Bryan's expression grew even more somber.

He stood up, quickly walked over to Freya, and pulled her up from the ground. "Alright, stop picking them up. If you like it, I'll buy you a better one."

Freya's eyes were red. "But Dad, I..." She lowered her head, choking with sobs.

At this moment, not only Bryan but even the servants nearby looked at Cecily with righteous indignation as if they wanted to step forward and slap Cecily on behalf of their little princess.

Cecily looked down at the broken string of pearls, finding it somewhat amusing.

She stepped forward, picked up the broken string, and said, "A top-grade pearl necklace that breaks at a touch? Even con artists would look up to you."

It was clear that the string had been tampered with beforehand. To provoke Bryan, they had gone to great lengths.

Freya was heartbroken, and Bryan's brows were full of anger, his gaze so severe it seemed as if he wanted to tear Cecily apart.

"Freya doesn't hold a grudge against you for pushing her down the stairs and sincerely apologizes to you, yet you keep making things difficult for her. Cecily, don't you think you're going too far?"

Cecily raised an eyebrow slightly and coldly said, "I just find it hard to communicate with you all. No matter what I do today, it's always wrong.

I stand here, forced to accept everything you impose on me. You are the ones who feel wronged, yet I am the villain.

So, is your show over? I'm tired.

I don't need your apologies, nor will I pursue this matter, alright?"

That's it. Talking to biased people, no matter how much I say, it's always wrong.

Bryan said, "Since it has come to this, do you think you have no fault at all?"

"You mean I should apologize to her?"

Bryan coldly asked, "Can't you?"

"Why should I?"

Cecily picked up the string and lightly tossed it in front of Bryan.

Bryan looked at Cecily, his cold eyes never leaving her face.

She was so much like Vivienne, in both temperament and everything else. Even that stubborn expression, unwilling to back down an inch, was exactly the same.

Perhaps wanting to curb her arrogance, or perhaps out of anger to seek justice for Freya, Bryan glared at Cecily.

"Cecily, if you weren't Vivienne's daughter, I wouldn't have tolerated you until now."

Cecily's eyes were cold, and she smiled faintly.

He was the head of the Collins family, ruthless and decisive. If it weren't for Vivienne, he would have dealt with her long ago.

"Get to the point directly."

"Some things I can overlook for Vivienne's sake, but you repeatedly hurt Freya, and I won't forgive you. Someone, since she once pushed Freya down the stairs, let her experience falling down the stairs as well."
