Chapter 287 Eliza's True Identity

Tabitha was at a loss for words and kept signaling Ophelia with her eyes. Ophelia had been suppressing her emotions during this time; otherwise, she felt like she could go crazy at any moment. At this moment, she forced a smile and said, "Mr.Fitzgerald, Mrs. Thompson."

"Don't call me that. I don't want to hear it. Get as far away from me as possible," Sandra said, showing no courtesy as she raised her hand, signaling the servant to push Ophelia inside.

Ophelia bit her lip, lowered her head, and felt her emotions on the verge of collapse once again. Tristan exchanged a few words with Owen and quickly led Ophelia inside. Owen, with no interest in further conversation, turned his head slightly.

Sawyer, who was always by his side, immediately approached and asked, "Mr.Fitzgerald"

"Where is Darian and the children?"Owen asked.

"They are probably still at the hotel with Mrs.Watson," Sawyer replied.

At the mention of Cecily's name, dissatisfaction filled Owen's eyes. He opened his mouth as if to scold someone but held back when he saw the crowd.

In a deep voice, he said, "Keep an eye on the two of them. Cecily's presence at tonight's banquet is bound to cause a stir. Darian spoils her, and she will surely make a scene. Don't let her ruin this event."

"Understood,Mr.Fitzgerald," Sawyer replied. Owen, leaning on his cane, walked inside. Sandra, upon entering the hall, encountered Peyton, Evan's wife. Peyton warmly welcomed Sandra.

"Mrs. Thompson, I heard you were injured. How are you feeling now?" Peyton asked.

Sandra shook Peyton's hand and nodded. "Much better, thank you."

Peyton wanted to inquire further, but Sandra spoke first, "Ms. Peyton, I heard that Miss Bennett has been found. Can I meet her?"

Sandra had come all the way here, despite her injury, just to see that woman and find out who she really was.

"You want to meet her?" Peyton paused for a moment.

Sandra nodded. "I would like to meet her. Can you take me to see her?"

Peyton hesitated. It was still early, and not many people had arrived yet. The official start of the banquet was still some time away.

"Well, it's not out of the question. But why do you want to see her, Mrs. Thompson?" Peyton asked.

"I heard she looks exactly like my former daughter-in-law, and I'm curious to see the resemblance for myself. Please, take me to her," Sandra insisted.

After Sandra's repeated requests, Peyton's gaze shifted. Evan had also briefed her on some matters. After a few seconds of contemplation, she nodded and said, "Alright, Mrs. Thompson, please follow me."

Sandra smiled and nodded slightly. "Thank you." She waved her hand, signaling the servant to push her as she followed Peyton.

Eliza, in her room, had just finished changing into her evening gown.

Dressed in a shimmering silver-white dress, the radiant hem of the gown brushed past her ankles. She proudly lifted her head and looked at herself in the mirror, gently touching her cheek. She had to admit that her face was incredibly beautiful.

Coupled with the blessing of this dress, it made her look stunning. Tonight, she was destined to be the most dazzling person, and she would not allow anyone to ruin this moment.

The phone rang, and she picked up the mobile phone beside her, glanced at it, and raised an eyebrow. She lifted the hem of her dress and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the people coming and going downstairs. She answered the call, "Have you all set off?"

"Don't worry, Miss. Our people have already set off and will definitely intercept Cecily."

"That's good. Remember, no matter what it takes, she must not appear at the banquet."

"Understood, Miss."

Eliza hung up the phone and crossed her arms, her eyes filled with determination. At this moment, there was a knock on the door.

Eliza's eyes flashed. "Who is it?"

"Cecily, it's me," Peyton said.

Eliza's expression changed, a hint of confusion in her eyes, but she still walked over and opened the door. "Aunt Peyton, what brings you here?"

"Nothing serious. It's just that Mrs. Thompson wanted to come and see you," Peyton said with a smile.

"Mrs. Thompson?" Eliza frowned and saw the servant slowly pushing Sandra towards her.

Eliza was caught off guard by Sandra's sudden appearance. She felt a moment of unease but quickly regained her composure and put on a smile. "Mrs. Thompson," Eliza greeted.

Sandra, as if she hadn't heard, didn't respond to Eliza at all, just staring deeply into her face. At that moment, Sandra was indeed taken aback when she saw the woman in front of her.

She looked just like Cecily. No wonder Sandra had mistaken her that night. If she had met this person on the street, she would have thought she was Cecily.

"What did you just call her?" Sandra asked in a low voice.

Peyton didn't understand why Sandra was asking this and said, "Cecily."

"You're also called Cecily?" Sandra's gaze never left Eliza.

Eliza stood there and said with a smile, "Mrs. Thompson, I am called Cecily."

Sandra snorted. 'Shameless. Not only did she take Cecily's face, but now she also wanted to take her name.' With that in mind, Sandra looked Eliza up and down, trying to spot any differences between her and Cecily.

As Sandra's gaze fell on Eliza's arm, her brows furrowed. She stared at the obvious scar on her hand. This scar...

Eliza's eyes trembled as she looked at Sandra staring at her arm. She didn't know if she was feeling guilty, but she instinctively hid her arm behind her back.

Sandra noticed this subtle movement. Her eyes darkened, and her heart sank. This scar was exactly the same as the one on her former adopted daughter Eliza's hand. With the added action of Eliza hiding her arm, Sandra raised her eyes and looked at her intently.

Eliza also nervously stared back at Sandra and tentatively asked, "Mrs. Thompson, what's wrong?"

Sandra's mouth twitched slightly, and she pretended not to notice as she shook her head. "It's nothing. The banquet is about to start, and I won't stay here any longer."

Eliza's heart was pounding, and she was trembling slightly. She felt that Sandra had discovered something.

Sandra gestured for the servant to push her away and took a few steps. She immediately said to the servant, "Hurry, push me away. Quickly."

The servant didn't understand what Sandra meant and had to quicken their pace.

Eliza thought for a moment and felt that something was wrong. Sandra must have discovered something just now. She gritted her teeth and excused herself to Peyton before picking up her skirt and following Sandra.

Sandra's heart was pounding, and she urged the servant to push her to the elevator as fast as possible. She was afraid that someone might come after her and took out her phone to call Darian. Sandra's mind was in turmoil. The scar on that woman's hand was exactly the same as the one on her adopted daughter Eliza's.

But Eliza had died years ago. How could this be? Sandra suspected it was a coincidence, but if it were, why would she instinctively cover up the scar? The only explanation was that she was afraid Sandra would see the scar and recognize her, so she instinctively covered it up.

With these thoughts, Sandra became even more suspicious that Eliza was the one who had undergone plastic surgery to become Cecily. Whether it was true or not, she had to tell Darian about this news as soon as possible. Sandra's hand holding the phone was trembling.

If she really was Eliza, that was terrifying. Sandra had taken care of her for several years, and yet she could harm Sandra with a knife. It was too frightening. If Eliza had attacked her before, there was no guarantee she wouldn't do it again. Sandra became even more nervous.
