Chapter 686 Cooking Personally
"Awake?" Darian said.
"Yeah." Cecily nodded, her voice still carrying a hint of lazy nasal tone.
Darian reached out to help Cecily up. "Then get up and have breakfast. Today's breakfast was specially prepared by a nutritionist for you. Let's see if it improves your appetite. I asked the doctor, and he said you can eat small, frequent meals to ease the nausea, but you can't skip meals."
Cecily had been feeling terribly nauseous lately, but she understood the reasoning.
"I know. Did you personally ask the doctor?" she asked.
"Yeah."
"What else did you ask?"
Darian looked at her and said slowly, "The doctor said you can't drink alcohol or coffee, can't do strenuous exercise or heavy labor, and no intercourse."
Cecily laughed at him. "So, you have to abstain for a while."
Darian pursed his lips and pulled Cecily up. "You seem very happy."
Cecily laughed heartily. "I'm clearly not."
"Daddy and Mommy, what are you talking about?" Griffin, sitting on the bed, looked up at the two of them and asked curiously.
Cecily paused for a moment, scratched her head, and looked at Darian. "Mommy is just joking with your daddy."
"I'll help your mommy freshen up. You two go downstairs and have breakfast first." Darian pulled Cecily into the bathroom.
The doctor said Cecily shouldn't be tired or do heavy labor, so Darian even squeezed the toothpaste for her, almost brushing her teeth for her.
After freshening up and changing clothes, they went downstairs. Aurelie was downstairs with Rowan and Griffin, having breakfast.
With two pregnant women in the house, Desmond was noticeably more cautious, not allowing any room for mistakes.
After breakfast, Cecily planned to go to the office. Darian wanted her to rest at home, but he couldn't stop her, so he agreed that she should go early and come back early.
After the unpleasant incident with Hunter and the others yesterday, when Cecily encountered Hunter and Keaen at the office, they looked at her as if they wanted to kill her with their eyes.
Giselle, on the other hand, recovered quickly and still greeted her as if nothing had happened.
Since they often had to meet at the office, Cecily didn't want things to get too awkward, so she responded politely.
In the afternoon, Darian came to pick up Cecily early.
Cecily was still busy in her office when Darian walked in.
Cecily was surprised and glanced at the time; it was only 4:30.
"Mrs. Fitzgerald, it's time to go home." Darian walked up to Cecily and was about to pull her up.
Cecily sighed. "Darian, it's only 4:30."
"You're pregnant, and not even two months along, with severe morning sickness." Darian pulled her up, not allowing her to refuse.
Seeing Darian's stance, Cecily rubbed her forehead. "Darian, I need freedom."
"After you give birth, I'll go wherever you want with you, okay? But not now. It's been several hours since 8 AM. Do you want to feel sick again?" Darian reached out to grab Cecily's bag and pulled her to leave.
Cecily almost laughed in exasperation. "Mr. Fitzgerald, you really don't need to be so nervous. I'm not feeling uncomfortable right now."
"Have I mistreated you?"
"What?"
Darian sighed. "Am I not good enough? I haven't earned enough money, making my pregnant wife with early pregnancy symptoms work so hard. I'm such a failure, right?"
Cecily asked Darian, "Where'd you pick up that way of talking?"
Darian pulled her in front of him. "Just answer me, am I right?"
"No, you're great." Cecily smiled sweetly at Darian.
But Darian looked troubled. "But I feel I'm not good enough. I'll go back to Silver Frost Capital and work overtime tonight."
"Darian, are you serious?"
Darian looked up at Cecily, then lowered his head again. "I'm leaving to go earn money to support you."
With that, Darian turned to leave.
Cecily quickly caught up. "Alright, I'll go back with you, okay?"
"Really?"
"Yeah."
Darian held Cecily's hand and smiled. "Then let's go."
"You're really annoying." Cecily smiled helplessly.
Cecily quickly packed up and was pulled out of the office by Darian. As they walked to the elevator, the employees in the company saw them.
Cecily heard the whispers behind her.
"Who's that handsome guy? What's his relationship with Ms. Watson? They look so close, holding hands."
"Are you dumb? Don't you know Ms. Watson is married? The man walking with her so openly must be her husband."
"Ms. Watson's husband is so handsome. I feel like I've seen him somewhere before. He must be from a prominent family too."
"Ms. Watson is Ms. Bennett's daughter, the eldest daughter of the Bennett family. A man who can match Ms. Watson must be exceptional too."
"They look so happy. Her husband personally came to pick her up from work. If my husband had the heart to pick me up even once, I'd be over the moon. Good husbands are always someone else's."
"What are you all chatting about? Don't you have work to do?" Giselle, who had been listening behind them for a while, couldn't help but step forward and scold them.
"Sorry, Miss Bennett. We'll get back to work right away." The group quickly dispersed and returned to their desks.
Giselle was exuding a cold aura, and no one dared to look up at her, not knowing who had angered her.
Giselle watched Darian and Cecily get into the elevator from a distance, her expression growing colder.
"What do you want for dinner?" Darian asked as he and Cecily got into the car, looking relaxed and at ease.
"Will you cook whatever I want?"
Darian rarely heard Cecily ask him this. "Do you want me to cook?"
"I don't think I've ever had your cooking. They say a man who can cook is more attractive to women."
"Alright, I'll cook when we get home." Darian said seriously.
Cecily raised an eyebrow. She had just mentioned it casually and didn't expect Darian to actually cook.
But Darian took it seriously.
He asked Cecily what she wanted to eat in the car, and as soon as they got home, he took off his coat and headed straight for the kitchen.
Rowan, Griffin, and Aurelie were in the living room. Seeing Darian's determination, Aurelie asked curiously, "What's Darian doing?"
"I mentioned it casually, and he plans to make noodles for me."
"Daddy's going to make noodles? Are you sure it's edible?" Griffin was skeptical.
"I don't know." Rowan said with a serious face.
Cecily was also worried. "I'll go check on him."
Rowan and Griffin stood up from the sofa, wanting to follow, but Aurelie stopped them. "You two stay here with me. Let them handle it themselves."
Darian stood in the kitchen, looking at the various ingredients in front of him, deep in thought.
Darian had rarely entered the kitchen, let alone cooked.
The chefs and maids nearby saw Darian standing there, looking at each other. One of the chefs stepped forward and said, "Mr. Fitzgerald, the kitchen has a strong smell of oil and smoke. Why don't you step out? We'll cook whatever you want."
Darian frowned. "I want to do it myself."
