Chapter 187 Cecily Counterattacked, and Darian Could Not Bear It
"And another thing." Cecily stared straight at Darian. "If that day truly comes, I want you to leave me and my child alone, to never disturb us again."
Darian wasn't someone who showed joy, but at this moment, his expression showed a hint of confusion.
The air in the hospital room seemed to freeze.

Cecily nodded silently. "I hope you keep your word."

The hospital room felt like a giant icy chamber, and this coldness did not dissipate until Darian left.
Cecily turned around, tilted her head back, and swallowed her falling tears.
'Why cry?'
'It's not worth it.'
"Cecily." Aurelie rushed in hurriedly.
She had arrived earlier and stood by the door, listening to Cecily and Darian's conversation. She knew she shouldn't go inside, so she waited at the door.
Now she looked at the scattered pieces of paper on the ground, squatting down to pick them up, and saw the displayed results on them.
She was shocked and looked at the sleeping child. Lowering her voice, she asked, "Cecily, what's going on?"
Cecily sniffled and composed herself before turning around. "Why did you come over?"
"I just finished up with work and came over to take a look," Aurelie approached with a worried expression on her face. "I heard everything at the door, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Cecily's face had already returned to its usual indifference.
"So what's going on? Is it Ophelia's doing?"
Cecily looked at the appraisal report in Aurelie's hand and shook her head. "It's not her. She doesn't have the ability to do something like this."
"Then who could it be?" Aurelie was shocked.
The only person she could think of who would do something like this was Ophelia. It would only benefit her if Darian didn't find out.
And she was the only one who wouldn't dare to let Darian know.
Cecily took the paper from Aurelie's hand and held it tightly in her palm, lowering her gaze. "Owen."
"Owen?" Aurelie looked at Cecily in shock. "Are you saying Owen switched the appraisal report to keep it from Darian?"
"Yes."
"Why? He doesn't even want his great-grandchildren? Has he lost his mind?"
Cecily's eyes darkened.
According to Darian, the only people who had access to this appraisal report were the members of the Fitzgerald Family.
Therefore, the only people who could switch the report were also members of the Fitzgerald Family, and who had the guts and authority to do it but Owen!
However, she wouldn't directly confirm it was him if he didn't come to see the children tonight.
It was strange for him to come and visit the children tonight.
Owen was disgusting her, there was no way he could like her children, so why would he come to visit them?
Unless he found out that those two children were descendants of the Fitzgerald Family.
Furthermore, Owen disliked her, so it would be impossible for him to want Darian to be with her. However, when he saw Darian defending her earlier, Owen was quite angry, and half an hour later, the appraisal report was sent over.
All these signs clearly indicated that Owen was the one behind this incident!
Cecily told her speculation to Aurelie, who covered her mouth in surprise. "Oh my goodness, Cecily, are you saying that this Owen wants the children, but he doesn't want you to be with Darian? Doesn't that mean... he wants to take the children away from you."
Cecily squinted and nodded. Her guess had come true. The Fitzgerald Family would never let their descendants be left alone.
"But if Darian keeps his word, then we don't have to worry about that," Aurelie said, holding Cecily's hand and looking at her face in astonishment. "So, you made Darian promise just for this?"
To leave her and the child in peace, never to be bothered again!
"Yes," Cecily nodded. Owen already knew about the child, and Darian would soon find out, too. Once the truth about the child came out, everything from the past would be brought up as well. Darian was a person who hated being deceived, and there was no way Ophelia could hide what she wanted to hide from him. And Cecily wouldn't let Ophelia hide.
She had been owed too much back then; it all had to be reclaimed. She needed the truth. She needed to see Darian regret what he had done back then. And she would leave with her two children—children that she absolutely would not let the Fitzgerald Family take away.

Cecily's gaze grew deep. It was time for her to outsmart them after being bullied for so long. She walked to the table, picked up the teacup Darian had just used, and placed it in a bag along with some hair from Griffin.
Aurelie walked up to Cecily and held her cold hand. "Cecily, I support whatever you want to do. Don't worry, I'll take care of the company. You can focus on your plan."
Cecily looked at Aurelie with a grateful smile. "Thank you."
Griffin, lying on the bed, stirred slightly and slowly opened his eyes. The pillow beneath his head was damp. He had heard it all. Mommy and Daddy still couldn't be together...
The next day, Ophelia had not slept a wink. She felt like time was crawling as she stayed in the hospital room. The wedding was off, and the paternity test results would come out today. It was pure torture for her.
She felt like she was done for. Tabitha pushed open the door and walked in with big strides. "Ophelia."
Ophelia slowly raised her eyes, with a glimmer of light finally shining through. "Mom, what's the situation? Did we get the results of the paternity test? Am I done for?"
Tabitha walked over and held Ophelia's hand. "I don't know if we have the results of the paternity test, but Fitzgerald's Family hasn't made any moves yet. However, Ophelia, there is some good news."
Ophelia's mouth twitched slightly. Good news? She was done for. What good news could there possibly be for her?
"What's the good news?"
"Fitzgerald's Family retracted the news of the canceled wedding last night and explained to the media this morning that it was a mistake," Tabitha said excitedly.
Ophelia's eyes brightened. "Really?"
"Absolutely."
Ophelia was momentarily happy, but her expression dimmed again. "What's the use? It's obvious that Owen was behind this. Once the results of the paternity test come out, Darian will still investigate the past. I can't hide my secret, and Darian will definitely not marry me."
"No, Ophelia, listen to me. There's more good news."
"More good news?" Ophelia looked at Tabitha in surprise.
