Chapter 598: Teaching the Villain a Lesson for Her
"Get off me!" Barbara screamed, eyes wide with terror, thrashing around like a wildcat.
Nicole and John were huddled in the back, watching the whole mess unfold. Barbara was about to get her hand chopped off, and they were too freaked out to do anything but cry like babies.
Just as the knife was about to slice her hand, Barbara yelled, "I'll give it! I'll give you everything!"
The knife stopped, a hair away from cutting her.
The debt collector sneered, "Why didn't you say that earlier?"
They let Barbara go, but she was soaked in sweat, like she'd just been dunked in a pool. She collapsed to the ground, shaking, and pulled a card from her pocket, handing it over with a look of pure despair. "It's all in there, all my money. There's nothing left."
The debt collector snatched the card and passed it to someone behind him, glaring at Barbara. "Is that it? If you're messing with us again, you know what's coming."
"It's all gone, I swear," Barbara sobbed.
"Listen up, this is just the interest. You better find a way to pay the rest soon," the debt collector sneered.
Barbara looked like she was about to pass out.
The debt collector turned to Aurelie, "What about you? Wanna get cut before you spill the truth?"
Aurelie took a deep breath. These guys were nuts. They thought Joshua was dead and that the four of them had to pay up, no way out. Nothing she said would change that.
She couldn't run, maybe this was just her fate.
Right then, Aurelie felt no fear, just numbness.
She walked to a cabinet, pulled out a card, and handed it to the guy. "There's tens of thousands in here, it's all I got."
"Tens of thousands? You think that's enough?" The debt collector was pissed.
Aurelie stared him down. "That's all I have. Even if you cut me up today, I can't give you more."
The debt collector wasn't happy with that little money. He looked her up and down, a nasty grin spreading across his face. "No more money? How about I search you?"
Aurelie's eyes narrowed, and she stepped back, wary. "What do you want?"
The debt collector eyed her body, exchanged a look with his buddies, and rubbed his hands as he moved closer. "Don't be nervous. You say you got no money, but how can I believe you? Let me search you, see if you're hiding any."
He kept coming closer. Seeing the look in his eyes, Aurelie knew she was in danger. She grabbed the knife and pointed it at him. "Stay back."
The guy wasn't scared. He sneered, "Don't try to scare me with that little knife."
Aurelie kept backing up until she hit the cabinet, nowhere left to go.
The debt collector grabbed her wrist and yanked her forward, grinning wickedly. "They say you're rich, but you only gave me tens of thousands. You must have more hidden. Let me search."
"Get away, don't touch me," Aurelie snarled, switching the knife to her other hand and slashing at his hand.
The debt collector yelped and let go.
Aurelie's eyes were wide with fear. The debt collector, now furious, snatched the knife from her and threw it to the ground. "You wanna die?"
Seeing Aurelie unarmed, Barbara and the others got all cocky.
Their money was gone because of Aurelie. Right then, they wanted to beat her to a pulp. Barbara was the first to jump up and charge at Aurelie, "She wants to die? I'll make sure of it!"
Aurelie had no weapon to defend herself. Barbara grabbed her hair, "Aurelie, weren't you tough just now?" She gritted her teeth and hissed, "It's all your fault we lost our money. I'll beat you to death, you bitch."
Aurelie's scalp was on fire from Barbara's grip, but she ignored the pain and bit down hard on Barbara's arm.
Barbara screamed and let go of Aurelie's hair.
Seeing this, Nicole and John grabbed whatever they could find and started chucking it at Aurelie.
They blamed her for everything and hated her guts.
John lifted a chair high. Aurelie, just freed from Barbara, couldn't react in time. When she turned around, the chair was already coming down on her.
If it hit her, the baby in her belly would be in serious danger.
Aurelie's heart sank, thinking it was all over.
She instinctively raised her hands to block the attack.
At the last second, a figure rushed in from outside. A tall, slender body wrapped around Aurelie, and Nathaniel's back took the full force of the chair.
As the familiar scent hit her, Aurelie's eyes widened in disbelief.
When the chair hit, Nathaniel's body shuddered in pain. Before Aurelie could react, Nathaniel let go of her, grabbed a nearby lamp, and smashed it down on John.
John was no match for Nathaniel and hit the ground hard.
Barbara screamed, "John!"
Blood trickled down Nathaniel's face. He wiped it off and smirked, ignoring it. His eyes, filled with murderous intent, locked onto the three of them.
Nicole, still holding a teapot, froze when she met Nathaniel's gaze.
Realizing the danger, Nicole dropped the teapot and tried to run.
Nathaniel took quick steps forward and grabbed Nicole's shoulder.
"Don't hit me," Nicole pleaded, waving her hands, "I was wrong."
"Then go to hell!" Nathaniel's cold voice was chilling.
Nicole's arm snapped, and she screamed in agony.
Nathaniel kicked her leg, and she crumpled to the ground.
The debt collectors, seeing someone so bold in front of them, were pissed, "Who the hell are you?"
Nathaniel, like a grim reaper, showed no emotion in his eyes, "Get out."
"Where did this lunatic come from? Let's teach him a lesson," the lead debt collector ordered, and his men moved forward, ready to brawl.
Nathaniel faced the group without a hint of fear.
The scene turned into chaos.
Nathaniel was skilled, but fighting off several strong men was tough.
Aurelie watched them brawl, her eyes filled with panic. She wanted to help, but as a pregnant woman, she could only make things worse.
"Nathaniel, be careful!" Aurelie shouted.
Nathaniel was fierce and relentless, with no defense, only brutal attacks. His punches landed solidly, and soon, several men were down.
Seeing this, the lead debt collector cursed and grabbed a vase, charging forward.
The vase smashed into Nathaniel's head, but he didn't dodge, facing it head-on. As the vase shattered, Nathaniel's fist landed on the debt collector's head, knocking him to the ground.
The debt collector tried to fight back, but Nathaniel, covered in blood, didn't give him a chance, pummeling him repeatedly.
