Chapter 479 She Is Your Fiancée
When Darian opened the car door, a cold breeze swept in. Cecily shivered slightly, like a lazy kitten.
Darian unbuckled her seatbelt and gently picked her up. Cecily, comforted by his familiar scent, instinctively snuggled closer to his chest.
Darian looked at her affectionately.
He had originally sent Larkin to check on Cecily with Paul and Kevin, but he couldn't resist coming himself.
Larkin held an umbrella over them as Darian quickly carried Cecily into the house.
Vivienne had left the door open and was surprised but understanding when she saw Darian carrying Cecily.
Darian nodded at Vivienne and quickly took Cecily upstairs.
He laid her down gently, careful not to wake her. As he was about to leave, he noticed Cecily gripping his clothes tightly.
Darian's heart trembled. She was still asleep, just holding onto him instinctively.
"Darian," Cecily murmured softly. He smiled, feeling as sweet as honey.
Darian wanted to hold her again as he saw er curled up and looking insecure, but he couldn't.
He kissed her forehead and reluctantly left.
As he exited Cecily's room, he bumped into Aurelie.
Aurelie's eyes widened. "You faked it?"
Darian nodded. "Yes, don't tell her."
Aurelie was confused. "Darian, wait, Cecily, she..."
"Aurelie, go back to sleep," Vivienne interrupted.
Aurelie wanted to tell Darian that Cecily was pregnant but followed Vivienne's instructions and went back to her room.
"Come downstairs with me," Vivienne said sternly.
Darian followed her.
"You pretended to have amnesia to protect Cecily?"
Darian nodded. "Yes, this way they won't use her to threaten me. It's safer for her."
Vivienne nodded. "Why didn't youtell her? She's worried about you."
"The less she knows, the safer she is. I'm not just facing Josep. If I end up like my father, it'll be easier for her to accept."
Vivienne was surprised by his foresight. "So please help me keep this from Cecily."
Vivienne agreed. "Alright, I will."
"I'll go now. Goodbye."
"If you need help, tell me. The Bennett family will help you."
"Take care of Cecily, Rowan, and Griffin. When this is over, I'll come take them home."
Vivienne agreed. "Alright."
After Darian left, Aurelie came downstairs. "Aunt Vivienne, why don't we tell him Cecily is pregnant?"
"It's not the right time," Vivienne said, watching Darian leave. She knew he had a heavy burden and wasn't sure if he could handle it.
"Don't tell Cecily he was here either."
Aurelie didn't understand. If Cecily knew Darian hadn't lost his memory, she'd be happy. If Darian knew he was going to be a father again, he'd be thrilled.
As Aurelie thought about it, she gently placed her hand on her own belly.
She wondered how Nathaniel would react to her pregnancy.
Would he be surprised? Would he be happy?
Maybe not.
Aurelie felt even more melancholic as she thought about it.
The next day.
At the Fitzgerald Manor.
Freya looked at Aurelia, who had brought her there, with confusion. Ever since the last incident, Freya hadn't dared step foot in the Fitzgerald family home, but today Aurelia had brought her in openly.
"Aurelia, I think I should leave."
"Leave? Why?" Aurelia quickly grabbed Freya. "You don't need to be afraid anymore. My dad's in charge of the Fitzgerald family now. You can come here whenever you want."
"Really?" Freya was surprised. She knew Owen had always been in charge, while Josep's family didn't hold much power.
"Of course it's true," Aurelia said proudly.
"Freya is here," Josep said as he walked down the stairs, his face as gentle and smiling as ever.
"Dad."
"Uncle Josep."
"Have a seat. How's your injury?"
Freya nodded. "It's healed, thank you for your concern. Uncle Josep, why did you call me here?"
Freya wasn't stupid. She knew Josep wouldn't have asked Aurelia to bring her to the Fitzgerald Manor without a reason.
Josep smiled lightly and got straight to the point. "There is something. My dad passed away yesterday."
Freya's eyes widened in shock. No wonder Aurelia said the Fitzgerald family would listen to them now.
So Owen was dead.
It was so sudden.
But even if Owen was dead, wasn't Darian still around?
Josep saw Freya's confusion and continued, "I know you used to like Darian. Do you still want to marry him?"
Freya didn't react immediately.
"Uncle Josep, what do you mean?"
"Just what it sounds like. Do you still want to be Darian's wife?"
Of course she did. She dreamed of it.
She wanted to marry Darian and always keep Cecily under her feet.
"Alright, then I need you to follow my instructions. I will make you Darian's wife."
Freya was completely confused.
Darian had Cecily by his side now, and given everything that had happened, Darian was entirely disgusted my her. Marrying him seemed like a fantasy.
Yet Josep spoke about it so easily.
As if as long as she wanted it, he could make it happen.
"Are you joking?"
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Josep asked with a smile.
Freya couldn't believe what Josep was saying.
"If you don't believe me, come with me. As long as you do as I say, you'll get what you want." Josep had already stood up.
Aurelia quickly tugged at the still-dazed Freya. "Freya, you only get one chance. You have to seize it. My dad never lies."
Freya stood up, only half-believing her, and followed Josep to the hospital. She still didn't understand what Josep intended to do.
"Uncle Josep, what's going on?" Freya frowned.
Josep smiled mysteriously and pushed the door open.
Darian was sitting on the sofa handling some documents. When he saw Josep, he indifferently lifted his eyes and then continued focusing on the documents in his hand.
Freya felt a chill in her heart when she saw Darian, and an overwhelming sense of fear made her instinctively want to flee.
But Josep's glance stopped her.
Freya had no choice but to stand behind Josep.
Josep walked over and sat down, raising an eyebrow. "Darian, didn't I tell you to get some rest? Why are you working again?"
Darian slowly furrowed his brows. "When were these projects from? Why don't I remember any of them?"
"It's normal for you to not remember anything. Your memory is still recovering. You need more rest. Maybe you'll remember everything soon."
Darian said nothing, lifting his eyes to focus on Freya.
Freya stood to the side, and when she heard Josep say that Darian had lost his memory again, she looked at Darian in amazement.
Darian had lost his memory again?
"Who is she?" Darian asked, his cold gaze fixed on Freya.
Freya instantly became nervous, but she couldn't help but keep her eyes on the noble and indifferent Darian.
"You don't even remember her?"
Darian frowned, a hint of confusion in his dark eyes.
Josep deliberately said, "She is your fiancée."
