Chapter 583: Can't Believe the Child Is Gone
Darian had just hopped out of the shower, but his clothes were already drenched again, and he looked seriously ticked off.
Taking a shower felt like fighting a war.
Cecily couldn't help but chuckle, "Alright, let me handle it."
"No way, your hand's still messed up. You can't get it wet." Darian grabbed Cecily's outstretched hand, "I'll do it right."
Darian nudged Cecily out and quickly slammed the bathroom door shut. Griffin and Rowan, hearing that Cecily was hurt, immediately teamed up with Darian to finish their bath and get dressed. They then dashed over to check on Cecily.
When Darian came out in fresh clothes, the spots on either side of Cecily were already taken.
Darian's face darkened.
He really wanted to toss them out.
"Daddy, what are you standing there thinking about?" Griffin noticed Darian standing alone and reminded him.
"Thinking about throwing you both out," Darian said.
Cecily, Rowan, and Griffin fell silent.
Darian walked over, glanced at Griffin who was closest to him, and lifted him aside to take his spot next to Cecily, "You sleep next to me."
Griffin frowned, "No."
Griffin rolled his small body twice, ending up between Darian and Cecily. He bent over and tried to push Darian away with his little butt, "Move over."
Darian gave him a warning look, but Griffin ignored him and clung to Cecily, "I want to sleep next to Mommy."
Darian's face fell.
"Stop it. If you keep this up, are you going to sleep or not?" Cecily said helplessly, tucking Griffin and Rowan in.
Cecily was clearly biased towards Griffin and Rowan. They looked smug and happily hugged Cecily, while Darian sat beside them, his eyes showing rare helplessness, "What about me?"
Cecily blinked and, to avoid another argument, she suggested, "How about you sleep in another room for tonight?"
"Me?" Darian was in disbelief.
"Yes."
Darian felt bitter and on the verge of losing it. He thought about having another kid, but if he did, would he be driven out of the house by this group of kids?
Pulling up the blanket, Darian went to sleep in a huff.
Cecily smiled wryly, thinking Darian had compromised for the night. But in the middle of the night, she suddenly felt the kids beside her being moved.
She opened her eyes and found herself being lifted by Darian. Her breath caught as she was pulled into a familiar embrace.
Seeing Darian's actions, Cecily looked at him warily, "You stayed up for two hours just to take me away from our sons?"
Darian raised an eyebrow and smirked, "Who told you to only favor those two?"
"They're kids. How old are you to be competing with them?" Cecily was helpless.
"Other things I can let go, but not this. You're mine." Darian looked at Cecily quietly.
Under his electrifying gaze, Cecily felt uneasy and avoided his eyes, muttering softly, "Well, you even compete with your son."
"What are you mumbling about?" Darian asked.
Cecily huffed lightly, trying to turn around in Darian's arms, but he pulled her back, holding her waist tightly so she couldn't move.
In the darkness, Cecily looked at Darian's perfect face under the faint moonlight. At such close distance, their breaths mingled.
Cecily's heart raced faster. She tried to move back to distance herself from Darian, but the next second, a large hand cupped the back of her head and pressed her forward.
Their lips met, and Darian kissed her.
After the kiss, Darian grumbled, "You said you'd make it up to me when we got home, but you bailed faster than anyone."
Cecily pushed against Darian's chest, her pretty face smiling sweetly, "It's because our sons are sleeping with us tonight."
Darian's deep eyes locked onto her face, "That's a convenient excuse."
Cecily smiled and leaned closer, giving him a light kiss on the lips, "Go to sleep. If you keep this up, we won't get up in the morning."
Yawning, Cecily lazily leaned into his arms and closed her eyes, "I'm so tired."
Darian, not satisfied with the kiss, could only hold Cecily tightly and warned, "Tomorrow night, they can't sleep here."
"Got it, you petty man. Do you think they really want to sleep with you?" Cecily said with a smile, her eyes closed.
She lifted her head and gave him a light kiss on the chin, "Goodnight."
Darian finally felt relieved and smiled.
Cecily quickly fell asleep in Darian's arms.
She slept soundly, and the next morning, when she woke up, the bed was empty except for her.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes and stretching, she picked up her phone to check the time.
It was 7:30, still quite early.
After washing up and changing clothes, Cecily went downstairs and saw Darian, Griffin, and Rowan having breakfast in the dining room.
"Morning." Cecily smiled as she walked over.
"Morning, Mommy." Rowan and Griffin said in unison.
Darian pulled out the chair next to him, and Cecily naturally sat down. The breakfast looked delicious and appetizing. Darian served Cecily some porridge, while Cecily noticed Griffin and Rowan glaring at Darian, theris face screaming," I want an explanation."
Griffin and Rowan looked aggrieved. Why was Mommy sleeping between them, but when they woke up, they were moved to the corner, and Mommy was in Daddy's arms?
Cecily glanced at Darian, who ignored Griffin and Rowan's gaze, "Did you have a fight again?"
"No." Darian placed the porridge in front of Cecily and gently reminded her, "Be careful, it's hot."
"Okay." Cecily lightly nudged Darian with her elbow.
Darian glanced at Griffin and Rowan, then poured them each a glass of milk, "Eat more and grow up quickly, so you can get married and stop competing with me."
Cecily almost choked on Darian's words.
Darian patted Cecily's back gently, raising an eyebrow, "What's wrong? Did I say something wrong?"
"It is a bit early." Cecily looked at the aggrieved Griffin and Rowan, "Sweethearts. Don't be mad. I'll be home with you all day today."
Hearing that Cecily would stay home with them, Griffin and Rowan immediately beamed, "Okay."
Darian had to go to work, so no one would compete with them.
Cecily smiled. They might be temperamental, but they were easy to appease.
After breakfast, Darian went to work, and Cecily stayed home with Griffin and Rowan. But she didn't forget to call Aurelie.
At the hospital, Nathaniel had been sitting alone outside the hospital room for a long time, his dry eyes bloodshot. Last night, after seeing Aurelie, he had asked the doctor again.
He couldn't believe the child would be lost so easily. Last time when Aurelie had a threatened miscarriage from a fall, the child was saved. So why was the child lost this time?
