Chapter 436 Someone Jumped

"Bryan, it has to be he coming to save me. Vivienne, I told you, you can't touch me. I won't die."

Jennifer, feeling triumphant, glared at Vivienne.

The door opened, and a cool breeze blew in. Jennifer saw Bryan enter with his men.

Her eyes lit up, and she rushed forward. "Bryan."

Bryan walked in, glanced at Vivienne, then looked at Jennifer. "Are you okay?"

Jennifer's tears fell as she looked worn out. "No, Vivienne wants to kill me. If you hadn't come, I'd be dead."

Bryan frowned at Vivienne, who sat calmly on the sofa.

Vivienne ignored him.

"You go out first, I need to talk to her."

Bryan was about to have his men take Jennifer out, but she clung to his arm, shaking her head. "No, please take me away now. I'm scared, really scared, please."

She didn't want Bryan to talk to Vivienne, fearing she'd show him the evidence.

Even though she claimed it was fake, she knew it was real.

She wasn't sure if Bryan would still protect her after seeing it.

Without Bryan's protection, she was done for.

So Jennifer wanted to leave, immediately.

Bryan saw her disheveled hair, haggard face, and trembling legs. He took a deep look at Vivienne, who sat silently.

Vivienne's expression was blank, but her aura sent chills down Bryan's spine.

She seemed different now: Vivienne's former indifference had transformed into a palpable menace.

Bryan didn't know what to say.

"Alright, let's go first." Bryan handed the trembling Jennifer to his men, looked at Vivienne, and said tiredly, "I'll take her back first, then I'll come back to talk to you."

"No need to talk." Vivienne stood up, her gaze sweeping over him, finally landing on Jennifer.

Jennifer sensed Vivienne's gaze, her shoulders hunched, and her pupils trembled.

Vivienne sneered, "Jennifer, I mean what I say. If not you, then your daughter."

Jennifer froze, feeling her blood run cold.

Bryan didn't understand what Vivienne meant, but he saw Jennifer trembling.

"Let's go, hurry, let's go."

Jennifer shouted at Bryan, desperate to escape Vivienne.

But outside, the vast darkness and cold wind made her alert.

The endless darkness seemed to tell her she couldn't escape.

Back at the hospital.

Bryan wanted someone to check Jennifer, but she insisted on seeing Freya first.

Freya lay in the ICU, showing no signs of waking up. Three doctors stood beside her, injecting something.

Seeing this through the observation window, Jennifer's eyes filled with terror. She pushed Bryan aside and rushed in.

Bryan was stunned, watching Jennifer storm into the ward, punching and kicking the doctors.

"Get out! What are you doing to my daughter? Vivienne sent you, didn't she? You're here to kill my daughter, aren't you?"

The doctors, who had just finished examining Freya, looked bewildered.

Bryan quickly came in and stopped Jennifer. "What are you doing? The doctors are examining Freya."

Jennifer, with bloodshot eyes, clung to Bryan's arm and shouted:

"No, they're not. They're Vivienne's people, here to kill Freya. Bryan, save her, make them leave, get a new doctor!"

Bryan frowned deeply.

"Calm down, no one is trying to kill Freya."

The doctors defended themselves.

"Mr. Whitaker, what does Ms. Murphy mean? We performed a surgery for over ten hours to save Miss Cruz's life and have been here all day. Now Ms. Murphy says we're here to kill her. We don't appreciate that."

Bryan quickly said, "I'm sorry, she's just really stressed right now. Please continue, I'll take her out."

"I won't go out, Bryan, believe me. They're really here to kill Freya. I saw it, I swear."

Bryan, growing irritated, snapped, "What's wrong with you? No one is trying to kill Freya. These doctors are saving her."

Jennifer didn't believe it. She knew Vivienne wouldn't let them go. If not her, then Freya.

She was terrified.

Her mind was filled with images of someone trying to harm Freya.

She clung to Bryan's clothes. "Bryan, can we go back to Riverview? I don't want to stay here anymore. Please take me and Freya back to Riverview."

Riverview would provide sanctuary, shielding them from Vivienne's reach.

The doctor, hearing they wanted to leave, kindly reminded them, "Mr. Whitaker, Ms. Murphy, Miss Cruz is still in critical condition. Leaving the ICU, let alone the city, would be dangerous."

Bryan knew they couldn't leave the hospital.

He looked at Jennifer and said, "Taking Freya away now would be killing her. Stop being crazy. What happened? What did Vivienne say to you?"

Jennifer's eyes flickered.

She didn't dare to say. She feared Vivienne would show Bryan the evidence.

She also feared Vivienne would show it to Owen. If Owen knew they had hired someone who almost harmed the Fitzgerald family's child, they wouldn't be grateful. They wouldn't let them go.

Vivienne had said that if she died, she wouldn't touch Freya.

As long as she died.

Jennifer shivered, looking at Freya, her eyes suddenly firm as if she had made a decision.

She slowly let go of Bryan's hand and walked towards Freya, murmuring, "There's no escape, no escape."

Jennifer looked at the pale, bloodless Freya, slowly bent down to hug her, and whispered, "Freya, I'm leaving. You must become Mrs. Fitzgerald and avenge me."

At this moment, no one noticed Freya's fingers twitch slightly.

Bryan didn't know what Jennifer was up to. He saw her take a deep look at Freya, then turn to him with a bright smile.

"Bryan, when I saved you before, you said you would repay me. I don't ask for anything. I only have Freya. Can you protect her, always treat her as your own daughter?"

Bryan felt something was very wrong with Jennifer.

He strode over and asked, "What happened with Vivienne? What's wrong with you?"

"Don't ask, just promise me, will you?"

Bryan looked at her sorrowful eyes, stunned.

Jennifer continued to plead, "Promise me."

Bryan nodded. "I promise you."

"Then I'm relieved." Jennifer smiled lightly, slowly letting go of Bryan's hand. "Bryan, thank you. I'm tired and want to rest. Can you stay here and take care of Freya, not leave her?"

"I'll have someone take you back."

"No need." Jennifer refused, "I want to walk by myself. Stay with Freya, don't leave her."

Bryan watched Jennifer slowly walk out of the ward. At the door, she looked back at Freya on the bed, softly saying, "Freya, Mom is leaving."

Freya couldn't respond.

Bryan had a very bad feeling but couldn't pinpoint why.

He instructed the doctors to continue treating Freya, then chased after Jennifer, but she was already gone.

Darian had Larkin take Cecily home and arranged four bodyguards for her. Walking on the street, Cecily felt it was a bit too much.

On the first floor, Cecily said to Larkin, "Mr. Thompson, you've had a long day. You should go rest. They can take me home."

"That's not possible. The boss instructed me to ensure your safe return."

Hearing this, Cecily didn't argue. The driver had already pulled up the car.

The phone rang, and Cecily answered, "Mom, I'm just about to head home."

A figure fell in front of them.

Cecily's eyes widened in shock.

Larkin and the four bodyguards were also stunned.

The surroundings fell into dead silence.

Until someone let out a sharp scream.

"Ah! Someone jumped!"
