Chapter 338 The Retribution She Deserves is Coming

When he held Cecily, he felt like she was a broken doll in his arms. She was covered in injuries, and just looking at those wounds was enough to make him tremble with fear.

Blaise was right; he deserved to die. He hadn't protected her well; he deserved to die.

In the emergency room.

Cecily lay on the operating table, struggling to open her eyes. She raised her hand to wipe away the tear stains on her face and called out hoarsely, "Doctor."

The doctor was examining her injuries and saw that she was awake. "You're awake."

Cecily nodded painfully, "I need an ophthalmologist for my eyes."

If she hadn't mentioned it, the doctor wouldn't have noticed her eye problem right away.

The doctor examined her eyes and then immediately called for an ophthalmologist.

After what seemed like an eternity, the door to the emergency room opened, and a nurse walked out.

Darian immediately stepped forward to inquire, "How is she?"

"Don't worry, she's fine. Most of her injuries are abrasions, and the cut on her lower back is a bit more serious. But with proper care, she'll be fine. It's just..."

"Just what?"

"It's just that her eyes are not in good condition..." The nurse saw his tense expression and organized her words before explaining concisely, "She has lost her vision, meaning she is blind."

Darian felt a roaring in his ears. He furrowed his brow and looked at the nurse in front of him. "Are you saying she will never see again?"

"Yes, the doctor examined her. The damage to her corneal tissue is irreversible. Unless she gets a corneal transplant, she will be permanently blind." The nurse shook her head apologetically, looking regretful.

The woman inside had beautiful eyes, but it was a pity that such beautiful eyes might never see the sunlight again.

Cecily blind?

How could it be?

How could her eyes be blind? He hadn't even noticed that she couldn't see.

The fact that Cecily was blind kept replaying in his mind. His slightly trembling fingers clenched, and he felt a deep sorrow. Suddenly, he punched the wall, startling the nurse.

He lowered his head deeply, pressing it against the wall.

"Is she awake?"

"She will wake up once the anesthesia wears off."

Cecily was soon transferred to a ward.

Darian went to see the doctor, and when he entered the ward, Cecily was already awake.

He saw Cecily in a hospital gown, leaning against the bed. The doctor had applied medication to her eyes, and they were now wrapped in a layer of gauze. Her expression was somewhat dazed, making her look particularly pitiable.

Darian took a deep breath to suppress his sorrow.

Cecily heard the noise and slowly turned her head toward the door. After hesitating for a moment, she asked, "Darian?"

"It's me." Fearful she would panic, Darian immediately responded, gently rubbing her slightly messy hair. "Are you in a lot of pain?"

"I'm much better."

"Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?"

She pressed her lips together, remained silent for a few seconds, then looked up and asked, "Darian, will my eyes never see again?"

Darian paused before returning to normal. "Who told you that?"

"I guessed." She was a doctor, after all. Although she didn't specialize in ophthalmology, she could roughly guess the answer when her eyes emitted that continuous pain.

Darian's fingertips gently touched the gauze in front of Cecily's eyes, feeling heartbroken. "The doctor said your eyes are just injured. The blindness is temporary. As long as you rest well, you will be able to see."

"Really? Did the doctor really say that?" Cecily found it hard to believe. She had already prepared for the worst.

"Yes, really."

Darian looked at Cecily, silently thinking that he would cure her eyes even if it cost him everything.

Cecily had prepared herself mentally for a day, and now this result was better than she had imagined. She gently pulled at her lips. "Okay, I will rest well."

Darian watched her, seeing the smile on Cecily's face, and felt a mix of emotions.

"Would you like some oatmeal? I bought you some oatmeal. The doctor said you need to eat something now."

"Okay." Cecily nodded. "How is Vincent?"

"Not sure yet. Blaise sent him to the hospital. If you want to know, I can have someone find out later." Darian picked up the oatmeal to feed her.

Cecily sighed. Although she couldn't see, she could imagine that he must have been seriously injured in that situation.

"Be careful, it's hot." Darian scooped up some warm oatmeal and brought it to her mouth.

Cecily reached out to take it. "I can eat it myself. I can do it."

Darian didn't give her the spoon, slowly feeding her. "I'll do it."

Cecily listened to Darian's low, hoarse voice, feeling that he was even more downcast than she was.

After finishing a bowl of oatmeal, Cecily felt a bit more strength in her body. She reached out to pull up the blanket.

Darian held her hand. "What do you want to do?"

Cecily was stunned by his nervous tone and said softly, "I want to go to the bathroom."

"I'll carry you."

"I can actually walk there myself."

Darian had already bent down to pick her up. "Don't be stubborn until your eyes recover. If you fall, it will be a loss. Don't you think?"

Cecily couldn't argue with that. She leaned against his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, and felt inexplicably at ease.

Darian helped Cecily take off her pants and placed her on the toilet. After she finished, he handed her the toilet paper. If Cecily could see, she would definitely see herself blushing in the mirror.

This was really too embarrassing.

But Darian didn't find anything wrong. He helped her wash her hands and then carried her back.

"You make me feel really disabled."

"Don't say that about yourself. This is temporary." Darian put her back on the bed and carefully tucked her in.

"I know, I was just saying." Cecily didn't want to continue this heavy topic. "Did you watch that video? The one on Griffin's computer."

"I watched it."

"So, are you still not going to tell me about the thing you were hiding from me?"

Cecily didn't deliberately avoid this matter and didn't believe her mother would kill Darian's father. There might be some misunderstanding.

"No need to say anything. We don't know the whole story yet. What should I say? Even if it's true, it's your mother's business. What does it have to do with you? No one should blame you."

Owen hated Vivienne, so he also hated her daughter, Cecily.

But Cecily hadn't done anything wrong. Even if Vivienne had done something wrong, the hatred shouldn't be transferred to Cecily.

"I met your mother."

Cecily was shocked. "You met my mother? When?"

" Cecily, your mother came back this morning. She also met Eliza. It was she who found your location. Tomorrow, the Bennett family is hosting a welcome party for her. She will attend with Eliza. I think her plan is to expose Eliza's true identity tomorrow."

Cecily was shocked to hear all this.

Darian reassured her, "Don't worry. You've worked hard for so long. Eliza's retribution is coming."
