Chapter 644 Never Said I Love You
"How could this happen?" Terry's face twisted in pain, his voice getting louder with each word.
Just yesterday, Stanley was fine. Now, he was a cold corpse. Terry couldn't wrap his head around it.
He suddenly sprang up and charged at Aurelie, grabbing her shoulders with a grip that could crush bones. "Was it you and Nathaniel who killed Stanley?" he spat, his hatred boiling over.
Cecily wanted to step in, but she saw Aurelie's eyes slowly rise to meet Terry's. With a swift motion, Aurelie flung his hands off her. "Stanley was your son, but so was Nathaniel. Stanley couldn't let go and tried to harm Nathaniel, but now he's dead. He even dragged Nathaniel into it! Nathaniel is still missing. What did he do wrong? When he was nineteen, you didn't let him go and sent him to prison yourself. Eleven years later, you still won't let him go. Now Stanley is killed by his ambition. He deserved to die, and you deserve to lose a son."
Aurelie's eyes were ice-cold. She poured all her resentment into Terry, not caring that he was a father who had just lost his son. Her words were as venomous as they could be.
If Terry had been a bit fairer eleven years ago, things wouldn't have come to this.
And now he had the nerve to question her, asking if she and Nathaniel had killed Stanley.
The person who killed Stanley was clearly himself.
Terry clutched his chest, gasping for air. His face turned pale, and his lips lost color, clearly overwhelmed and unable to accept it, triggering a heart attack.
Cecily stepped forward, looked at Terry who had collapsed, and squatted down to press a pressure point. She turned to the tearful Isadora standing nearby, "He has a heart condition. Did he bring his medication?"
Isadora sniffled, ran to the car to get the medication, and fed it to Terry, whose complexion gradually improved.
After feeling better, Terry sat on the ground in a daze, his eyes vacant, as if he had lost his soul.
Ten hours into the search, there was still nothing. Nathaniel was neither found alive nor dead, and it was completely dark.
The searchers, after more than ten hours, were exhausted.
Larkin didn't want to believe it, but at this moment, Nathaniel might really be dead. He walked over to Darian and said gravely, "Darian, everyone has done their best, but we still haven't found Nathaniel. He might have already died..."
"What did you say?" Aurelie's voice cut through the air, cold and broken.
Cecily stepped forward, her eyes red, and gently patted Aurelie's shoulder. "Aurelie, Nathaniel won't die. Not finding him now might be good news. He wouldn't leave you and the baby. How about I take you home first? You're still pregnant, standing here all this time isn't good for you."
Cecily spoke carefully. Aurelie seemed calm, but she was fragile, teetering on the edge. Cecily was afraid any harsh words would shatter her.
"Really?" Aurelie turned her bloodshot eyes to Cecily, but no tears fell.
"Really, he's been through so much and survived. This time will be no different." Cecily didn't know if Nathaniel was alive or dead. She knew the odds were grim.
But for Aurelie right now, maybe a little lie was better.
Aurelie turned her gaze to the endless sea and sighed softly.
"I've been with him for over a year, and I don't think I've ever told him I love him. I always thought everything I did for him was out of gratitude, but now I realize, it's not." Aurelie smiled, a bitter smile. "Cecily, I love him."
When she saw Nathaniel fall with the car, it felt like her heart was ripped out.
Standing here for over ten hours, Aurelie's mind raced a thousand times. If he really died, she didn't want to live either. She wanted to die with him and say the words she hadn't told him.
Cecily's eyes filled with tears. "When he comes back, you can tell him all this."
"Will there be a chance?" Aurelie asked.
"There will be."
Aurelie pressed her lips together, looked up at the full moon in the sky, and murmured, "I believe there will be." She touched her swollen belly. "Nathaniel, I'll wait for you to come back."
Five days flew by, and still no news of Nathaniel.
Terry's hair turned white overnight, and he dejectedly took Stanley's body to the funeral home for cremation.
The Kensington Group had no leader, its stock plummeted, and everything went as Nathaniel had predicted. The Kensington Group was eventually acquired by Darian.
Aurelie came to the cliff where Nathaniel fell every day. She didn't cry or make a fuss, just waited for Nathaniel to come back.
Every time Cecily drove over, she saw Aurelie standing there. Rowan and Griffin came along this time. They looked at Aurelie, then up at Cecily, their eyes full of worry for her.
