Chapter 352 As If Seeing a Demon

Eliza spoke hurriedly and frantically at the time, and no one noticed her saying, "The car went out of control."

Since Cecily couldn't see, she focused on listening and quickly caught that sentence.

"Are you suggesting that someone tampered with the car?"

"Yes, it's a possibility we can't rule out."

Cecily boldly speculated.

Vivienne shook her head and said, "The car leaked oil and exploded at that time, and it was severely burnt. The police investigated and found no issues, so they ruled it an accidental car crash. Could it be that Eliza was just too panicked and said something random? The car's dashcam showed no abnormalities or signs of losing control."

Cecily's face grew serious. "I'm just speculating; we can't know for sure."

The driver died, Patrick also died, and the only survivor in the car was Eliza.

So now, if they wanted to know anything, they had to hear it from Eliza.

But given Eliza's current state, she hated the Fitzgerald family so much that even if she did know something, she would never say a word.

Vivienne sighed. "Maybe it was just an accident. It's been thirteen years; time washes away many traces. The accident was already concluded back then, and even if you suspect something, there's nowhere to investigate."

"No, Mom, as long as Eliza is around, we might be able to uncover the truth."

"Cecily, don't act impulsively," Vivienne said, looking at Cecily with concern.

Cecily's desire to uncover the truth was well-intentioned, but this matter was a painful one for the Fitzgerald family. Investigating it would be like rubbing salt into their wounds.

Moreover, she had no solid evidence, only a single unconscious remark from Eliza in a moment of emotional distress.

Whether or not there was a hidden truth, investigating would bring no benefit.

If there was a hidden truth, it meant someone wanted to harm Patrick, and investigating would bring danger to Cecily.

If the investigation still concluded it was an accident, the Fitzgerald family will only think she was making things up to exonerate Vivienne.

"Cecily, it's been too long. Just let it go, okay? Besides, your eyes are not healed yet. You have a family to consider. You can't put yourself in danger."

Cecily pressed her lips together. She knew Vivienne was right.

She was blind now and couldn't investigate thoroughly, as she needed others to take care of her.

"Mom, don't worry. I won't act rashly. In my current state, I can't investigate anything." Cecily lowered her head and smiled bitterly.

Vivienne took a deep breath. "Don't worry, your eyes will get better, they will."

Even if there were no donors in the end, Vivienne would donate her own corneas to restore Cecily's sight.

"There's one more thing, Mom. I want to take you to see someone, someone you should know."

Cecily and Vivienne arrived at Vincent's hospital room. Vincent was seriously injured and still resting, so they didn't go in to disturb him.

Vivienne stood at the door and looked through the viewing window, immediately recognizing the person inside.

Vivienne recognized the man through the window immediately. "I know him. His name is Gary Bennett. Orphaned from a young age, he grew up in the Bennett family. He's a smart guy, and I specifically had someone train him. Since I couldn't return to Silver Frost Capital, I sent him to protect you. Didn't he tell you this?"

Cecily suddenly understood. "So his name is Gary. He was poisoned by Eliza, which caused him to lose his memory, even forgetting his own name. He only remembered my name by carving it into his arm and came to find me."

Vivienne was somewhat surprised by these events but not surprised that he found Cecily.

She had witnessed his loyalty firsthand, which is why she trusted him implicitly.

"Once he recovers, let him continue to stay with you. He will be of great help."

"Mom, he should have his own life."

Vivienne smiled gently. "You don't understand him well enough. A person who forgets everything but remains loyal. If you want him to leave, try and see if you can succeed."

Cecily smiled at Vivienne and said, "But Mom, you don't know. He loves calling me 'sister' more than my two sons ever do."

"Really? Well, since he has always lived with the Bennett family, if he likes calling you that, I'll consider him my own son, and you can treat him as your younger brother."

"Mom, you're taking advantage of him without asking if he's willing."

Vivienne pinched Cecily's cheek. "Fine, we'll ask him when he wakes up. Maybe he'll agree, and then I'll have a son."

Cecily laughed. "Alright."

Vivienne spent the entire day with Cecily, undisturbed by others.

Night fell.

Eliza had been on a hunger strike all day. In response, Darian ordered his men to blindfold her and tie her up in the wilderness, making her experience what it felt like to be blind and trapped outside.

"Darian, Cecily, come out and see me."

"Do you hear me? Darian, what right do you have to leave me here? Let me go!"

"Darian, ah!" Eliza felt something crawling over her foot and screamed in fear, her whole body tensing up.

Where is this place? Where have you dumped me? Darian, come out! Do you have no heart? Everything I did was for Father. How can you treat me like this for that bitch?"

Eliza continued to curse for over two hours, and the bodyguard watching her couldn't hold back any longer. "Shut up, you're so noisy."

"Who are you? Where's Darian? Are you his subordinate? Tell him to come see me."

"Do you think you're worthy of our Boss coming to see you?"

At that moment, the bodyguard's phone rang.

An hour later, Eliza was dragged in front of Darian.

Darian sat in a chair like a regal emperor, his deep eyes lowered, looking at the woman crouched at his feet.

The black cloth was removed, and Eliza squinted at the sudden light. When she saw Darian, she recoiled like a startled bird.

Darian looked at her coldly, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "Didn't you want to see me? What are you afraid of?"

Eliza began to tremble involuntarily, as if seeing a demon. "What are you all up to? Don't you hate me? Why don't you just kill me?"
