Chapter 681 Why Should My Daughter Give In to Your Daughter
Cecily thought it was something serious, but it turned out to be about last night's drinking.
How dare they come and question her?
Was Giselle allowed to give her a hard time, but she was not allowed to fight back?
"So you came here for last night's incident. I thought it was something serious, seeing you both so angry early in the morning." Cecily slowly walked up to the two of them. "But don't you think you should get the whole story straight before questioning me?"
"We know exactly what happened. You forced Giselle to drink. She couldn't refuse in front of everyone and had to drink a whole glass of wine because of you. Are we wronging you?"
"Not really. That's exactly what happened," Cecily admitted openly.
Hunter, hearing her admit it so confidently, got even angrier and questioned, "Who gave you the guts to bully my daughter?"
Cecily didn't know if they really didn't understand the whole situation or if they thought Giselle was right to give her a hard time, but she was wrong to fight back.
"It's not bullying. It's just tit for tat," Cecily said coldly under Hunter's angry gaze.
"Yes. Just because we gave you a hard time in the meeting, you held a grudge and took it out on Giselle when we weren't around. Cecily, you said yourself that the matter in the meeting was over, but you gave Giselle a hard time again after the meeting. Don't you think you went too far? If you have a grudge, take it out on me. Why take it out on her?" Hunter's tone was aggressive.
Cecily indeed planned not to pursue the matter from the meeting and wouldn't have pursued it afterward either.
If Giselle hadn't continued to give her a hard time at the dinner table, she wouldn't have fought back.
"Go back and have Giselle reflect on herself. She started it. I don't easily cause trouble, but if someone insists on provoking me, I won't let it slide," Cecily retorted.
"Are you saying Giselle started it?"
"Isn't that the case? It seems you two really don't know the whole story. Last night, I said from the beginning that I don't drink much. Giselle deliberately poured me a drink, forcing me to toast everyone under the guise of an apology. Since she insisted on using the apology as an excuse, I naturally had to fight back."
Cecily didn't think she was wrong. If Giselle hadn't come to provoke her, she wouldn't have fought back.
She deserved it.
Hearing Cecily say this, Darian's face immediately changed.
Cecily usually controlled herself well and didn't drink at all. The fact that she drank last night was because of Giselle!
Cecily felt Darian's aura growing colder beside her. She glanced back at him and forced a slight, appeasing smile.
She didn't mean to deceive him. Since she had already taught Giselle a lesson last night, there was no need for Darian to step in. To avoid conflict, she simply didn't tell Darian.
Who would have thought these two would come looking for trouble the next day?
Darian's cold lips pressed into a line, and his sharp gaze swept directly at Hunter. "Your daughter forced my wife to drink, and I haven't come to you for trouble, yet you come to us first."
Hunter was at a loss for words. He had only heard that Cecily forced Giselle to drink and deliberately embarrassed her, not knowing about this part.
"How do I know if what you're saying is true? Giselle isn't like that. From the day she met you, she's been very affectionate towards you, but you've always been cold and unfriendly. I don't believe Giselle would deliberately target you."
"Whether you believe it or not is your business. I suggest you get the facts straight before coming to me next time," Cecily said coldly, not holding back.
Hunter stared at her, extremely dissatisfied with her words. "Regardless of whether what you said is true, you admit what I said is true, right? I believe Giselle didn't go to the extent of making things difficult for you, but what you did made her look very embarrassed in front of everyone."
"So what?" Darian said coldly. "You should be glad she handled it last night. If it were me, one bottle wouldn't be too much."
Hearing Darian's words, Hunter trembled with anger. "What, are you trying to bully us with your power? Cecily, do you really think that just because you're back with the Bennett Mansion, and as Vivienne's only daughter, the future head of the Bennett family, we all have to cater to you?"
Cecily felt a slight headache at his words. "What exactly do you want?"
Cecily could understand Hunter wanting to seek justice for his daughter, but since Giselle was the one who did wrong first, she didn't see the point in arguing with him.
If she were him, she would go back and educate Giselle properly to prevent such things from happening again.
Cecily finally understood why Desmond said Giselle was spoiled and arrogant. With someone like Hunter always indulging her regardless of who was at fault, it naturally fostered her arrogant personality.
"Apologize to Giselle," Hunter demanded.
"Why don't you have her apologize to me first?" Cecily sneered.
"Even if she was wrong too, you're older than her. You should be the bigger person and not make things difficult for her."
Hearing this, the light in Cecily's eyes instantly dimmed.
She had heard these words too many times. Every time she heard them, she thought of scenes from the Watson Mansion, and her face turned cold, her fingers digging into her palm.
"Why should my daughter have to give in to yours?" a hoarse yet familiar voice suddenly rang out.
