Chapter 631: Handing Over the Kensington Group to Nathaniel
Terry got rushed to the hospital in no time. Stanley barged into the room, fuming. "Dad! Nathaniel's not just after me anymore. He's gunning for the whole Kensington Group. He wants revenge and aims to take us down!"
Terry had just woken up, leaning against the hospital bed, coughing hard. "Isn't this because you tried to mess with him before? Why are you so worked up? You've always been my chosen successor, but you chose to scheme against Nathaniel! Now you've made an enemy for no reason."
Stanley clenched his teeth. How was he supposed to know Terry always intended for him to take over? With so many sons, and Nathaniel being the standout, way more capable than him, how could he not be anxious?
He only regretted not being more ruthless back then, making sure Nathaniel never got out of prison to challenge him.
But now wasn't the time to dwell on that.
They had to figure out how to get through this mess. Everything was stacked against them right now.
"Dad, is this really the time to talk about this? We need to deal with this problem fast." Stanley was seething.
Terry looked up and saw the cold determination in Stanley's eyes. He frowned slightly, "What do you plan to do?"
Stanley narrowed his eyes, "We need to get rid of Nathaniel."
"No way!" Terry knew exactly what Stanley meant and shut it down immediately. He had given up on saving Nathaniel back then, but Nathaniel was still his son. He could abandon him, but he couldn't bring himself to kill him.
"Dad, do you still have any feelings for him? Haven't you seen how he's targeting us? You really wanna see the entire Kensington Group, the whole family, destroyed by him before you toughen up?" Stanley angrily questioned Terry.
Nathaniel had blocked his path to inheriting Kensington Group before and now released recordings that got him in trouble. Stanley had long hated him.
Terry listened to Stanley's words and fell silent.
Stanley made up his mind, said nothing more, and turned to leave.
Terry frowned but didn't say anything.
Not long after Stanley left, the door to Terry's room opened again. Seeing who came in, Terry got agitated, "What are you doing here?"
"To see you, Father!" Nathaniel's voice dripped with sarcasm.
Terry chuckled, "So you still know I'm your father? What was the point of that recording you posted online? Are you trying to bring down Kensington Group?"
Nathaniel walked over, pulled out the chair next to Terry's bed, and sat down. "Rather than bringing down Kensington Group, I'd prefer to take it over. If you're willing to hand it over to me, this crisis can be resolved."
Terry shouted, "Don't even think about it. Kensington Group belongs to Stanley. I won't give it to you."
Hearing Terry's words, Nathaniel found it amusing, "See, you're biased. If you love Stanley so much, you should've just had him. Why did you have us? Isn't it your own inability to control your desires that led to this?"
Terry shouted, "I regret it now. If I had known you'd turn out like this, I would have made your mother abort you."
Nathaniel leaned back in his chair and sneered. "Yeah, if the old you knew what would happen now, you'd probably want to castrate yourself. But there's no going back. You don't even have the chance to castrate yourself now. You can't give Kensington Group to Stanley either. At this rate, it's hard to say if Kensington Group can even survive this."
Terry, enraged, clutched his chest and sat up. "You've done all this just to get revenge on Stanley and me for not helping you back then?"
"No, I just want justice for myself, Dad. Have you ever felt such helplessness and despair? From nineteen to twenty-nine, I spent all those years in prison just because Stanley was afraid I'd compete with him for the family inheritance. To be honest, before I was nineteen, I never thought about competing with him. But once I knew everything I suffered was his doing, from that day on, there could only be one winner between us, and that winner had to be me!" Nathaniel was furious.
Terry stared at Nathaniel, listening to every word he said, and couldn't help but feel a wave of regret. Maybe if he hadn't been so biased back then and had been willing to help him, things wouldn't have turned out this way.
Nathaniel was right. Stanley's framing of Nathaniel and causing a death had been proven. He could no longer give Kensington Group to Stanley. Soon, the shareholders would pressure him too. To save Kensington Group, he had to hand it over to Nathaniel.
Nathaniel stood up. "Think it over, Father. Call me when you've made up your mind. I'll be waiting."
Nathaniel knew how important Kensington Group was to Terry. As long as Terry didn't want Kensington Group to be destroyed step by step, he would agree.
After Nathaniel left the ward, Terry sat on the hospital bed in a daze for a long time. During this time, his phone kept ringing with calls. They were all from shareholders and the board, urging him to come up with a solution.
But what could he do now? The only way to solve the problem was to announce that he was handing over Kensington Group to Nathaniel.
After a long consideration, Terry slowly took out his phone and called his secretary. "Gather all the shareholders and board members tomorrow. I have something important to announce. Bring Nathaniel too."
After speaking, Terry hung up the phone and closed his eyes, letting out a deep sigh. All of this was the result of Stanley's mistake eleven years ago. Now, Stanley deserved everything that was happening, and Terry could no longer be biased.
The next day, in the Kensington Group conference room, all the directors and shareholders of Kensington Group were present. Stanley sat in his chair, listening to the whispers around him, feeling extremely troubled.
Soon, Terry was helped in by his secretary. In just a few days, he seemed to have aged significantly. Stanley still didn't understand what it meant for Terry to call everyone for a meeting at this time.
