Chapter 186 How Would Darian Repay the Debt He Owed to the Three of Them
Darian raised his hand, and as he was about to receive it, his eyes swept toward Cecily, deeply gazing at her. "You still insist on your previous claim that the child is mine, right?"
"Yes," Cecily's voice was firm, neither too light nor too heavy.
Darian nodded, withdrew his gaze, and took the paternity report, flipping through the pages... until he looked down at the test result at the end...
The air remained completely quiet for five seconds.
Darian sneered and raised his hand to massage his temples.
What exactly was he expecting?
Again and again, unwilling to give up.
Looking at Darian's expression, not one of joy but irony, Cecily furrowed her eyebrows. "What's wrong?"
Darian raised his hand and placed the paternity report on the table. "Take a look for yourself."
Cecily's eyebrows furrowed as she quickly walked over, picked up the report, and flipped through it, seeing the test result written on it.
Cecily's pupils suddenly contracted.
'No paternity relationship exists!'
'How is this possible?'
Cecily clutched the paternity report. "This can't be possible. Someone must have tampered with this report."
Darian's voice was low. "Throughout the entire process, from submitting the samples for testing to the dozens of hours spent at the testing center, and until we received them back, specialized personnel were closely monitoring. If you claim that someone tampered with it, who would have done it? Ophelia?"
Cecily could only think of Ophelia at the moment, but the way Darian said it, Ophelia shouldn't have had the opportunity.
Then who could it be?
It couldn't possibly be the Fitzgerald Family's bodyguard or the staff members who performed the paternity test.
Cecily couldn't figure it out at all.
Darian stood up and lowered his gaze to the woman standing in front of him. "Why are you so certain that the child is mine? I haven't touched you during that time."
Darian wasn't often at home during that time, and he rarely shared a room with Cecily. In the month before the incident occurred, he hadn't touched her at all.
So, the only possibility of her getting pregnant was that one night.
That night, the man who had never been found.
Darian's face grew darker.
Cecily touched her forehead and was so angry that she almost exploded on the spot. "Because Ophelia drugged me that night, and the person I slept with was you."
Darian's brow furrowed tighter. "Based on what?"
Cecily bit her lip. "The way it felt, all the sensations in my body, it was you."
"Are you so sure that your feelings couldn't be wrong?"
When he woke up, Ophelia was lying next to him while Cecily came out from a different room. How could this be explained?
"Yes, I'm absolutely sure. I'm certain it was you," Cecily said in a bitter tone, tugging at the corner of her lips.
She was one hundred percent certain, absolutely not mistaken.
Darian coolly tugged at the corner of his lips. "Feelings can be deceiving. The results are already in front of us."
Cecily touched her forehead, took a deep breath, and coldly sneered. "Yes, you only look at the results. Just like when Ophelia said I killed her child, you also only look at the results without an ounce of trust."
Darian's face turned dark. "The evidence of that incident was clearly presented. Even the accounts for the money transfers were in your name. What do you have to argue about?"
Cecily sarcastically said, "But Darian, why would I harm her child?"
"If you hadn't told me that the person who drugged me that day was Ophelia, I wouldn't have known it was her, let alone think that the child in her womb was yours. Why would I harm her child? Am I looking for trouble for myself?"
Tears welled up in Cecily's eyes.
Because of this incident, she and her two children almost died. When she mentioned this matter, Cecily felt wronged and heartbroken.
She had just wanted to live a peaceful life, but all sorts of bad things came her way.
One Ophelia was enough to teach her about the darkest side of human nature.
Darian looked at the woman with red eyes, and a frosty expression appeared on his face. He lowered his gaze.
Cecily stepped forward and grabbed Darian's clothes, looking up at him. "Darian, let me ask you this. If I and the children really died that day, and one day, the whole truth is revealed, and you find out that I was innocent, what would you do? What would happen to me and the children? Darian, how would you make up for the loss of three lives?"
Cecily forcefully pushed Darian away.
Darian took a step back, the woman's questioning lingering in his ears.
'Darian, how would you make up for the loss of three lives? '
Although it was a very long time ago, and he had already seen the truth.
But...
Hearing these words, his heart felt like it was being squeezed by a hand suffocating him.
He raised his head, looking into Cecily's eyes filled with pain.
Cecily widened her eyes, afraid to blink in fear that her tears would fall.
She had asked Darian this question countless times in her heart.
If one day, all the truth was revealed, how would Darian repay the debt he owed to the three of them?
He had personally administered the abortion pills, ending his own child's life.
So ironic!
Not hearing Darian's response, Cecily stubbornly stared at him. "Tell me, why aren't you speaking? I'm asking you how you will make amends. If you discover that you falsely accused me, if it was your own child that you killed, what will you do? How will you make amends?"
It was the first time Darian realized that when faced with a question, he didn't know how to answer.
If everything Cecily said was true, if he really mistakenly caused the death of the three of them, if he was truly at fault, he should pay with his life.
"Can't come up with an answer?" Cecily mockingly looked at Darian. "I didn't expect that you, Mr. Fitzgerald, would also face questions you couldn't answer."
"Pay with my life!"
If he had really been wrong back then...
"If everything was my fault back then... I'll give my life to you, let you do whatever you want with it."
Cecily pulled her lips into a smile. "All right, if that day truly comes, I want you, Darian, to experience all the grievances and pains that I have suffered, all of them."
