Chapter 116 Calculations, Let Her Fall from Grace

Elysia hunched her shoulders, her face looking sickly.

Ophelia had a temper that was far from pleasant, particularly these past few days. Speaking to her was like walking on eggshells, as one wrong word could set her off in a rage.

"Maybe she's just being too cautious... You know how tricky she can be. Can you give me some more time?"

"Time?" Ophelia frowned deeply. "Darian is talking about calling off our engagement because of that tramp, Cecily. I'm giving you time, but who's giving me time?"

Elysia was shocked. Darian was planning to break off his engagement with Ophelia?

No wonder she'd been on the verge of exploding these last few days.

So that was the reason.

Elysia stepped forward, "It must be Cecily who seduced Mr. Fitzgerald."

"Do you think I need you to tell me that?" The fury and hatred in Ophelia's eyes were hard to miss.

'What kind of spell has Cecily cast on Darian?'

'Damn it!'

She would not let the engagement be called off. The title of Mrs. Fitzgerald was meant to be hers, and she would not let Cecily take it from her.

"Ophelia," Elysia said with a cold gleam in her eyes, "if Cecily was out of the picture, Mr. Fitzgerald would naturally stop thinking about breaking off the engagement."

Her suggestion was in line with Ophelia's wishes. Ophelia’s eyes shifted, and then she turned around to grasp Elysia's hand, "Elysia, you're right. You have to help me."

The sudden change in Ophelia's demeanor took Elysia aback, sensing that what Ophelia was about to propose was no good deed.

Biting her lip, Elysia asked, "What do you want me to do, Ophelia?"

Ophelia pulled Elysia to sit down on the couch, a sinister smile crossing her face, "Obviously, to deal with Cecily. Once she's out of the picture, and since you're her family, taking over her company will be a cakewalk. Her death would benefit us both."

Elysia knew this, but was Ophelia suggesting that she, Elysia, personally take action?

"Elysia, whether you can secure Cecily's company, whether you can become the sole heiress of the Watson family, it all depends on you now."

Sure enough, Ophelia wanted her to make a move.

She was the one who was always asked to do the dirty work, and if anything was discovered, she'd be the one to suffer. Did they really think she was a fool?

Elysia's expression turned troubled. "Ophelia, you know I can't handle Cecily alone..."

"Of course, I know. I'm well aware of your limitations, which is why we need to work together. You need to find a way to lure Cecily back to the Watson Family estate tomorrow night."

Ophelia stood up, folded her arms across her chest, and a dark glint shone in her eyes. "I actually don't want to kill her outright. I'd much prefer to watch her suffer, to see her reputation destroyed, to watch Darian grow disgusted with her."

"All you need to do is follow my instructions."

Hearing Ophelia speak this way, Elysia felt a measure of relief; tricking Cecily into returning to the Watson Family was still quite manageable.

"I understand, Ophelia. I'll do whatever you say."

Ophelia let out a cold chuckle, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and looked out at the vibrant night lights with hatred simmering in her eyes.

Thinking about her plan, Ophelia could hardly wait to put it into action.

...

The next afternoon, Cecily had just finished a meeting and came out of the conference room clutching a stack of documents, ready to call Aurelie to her office, when her assistant, Mia, approached her. "Ms. Cecily, there's someone here to see you."

Cecily continued to browse through the documents, signing her name deftly as she asked, "Someone looking for me? Did they say who?"

"They said it's your sister and grandmother."

Cecily's hand holding the pen paused for a moment, and she lifted her head to look at Mia.

Seeing Cecily furrow her brows, Mia asked with confusion, "Ms. Cecily, is something wrong?"

Cecily shook her head. "It's nothing."

With that, she stood up and walked outside.

She wouldn't have bothered if it were just Elysia, but she couldn't ignore her grandmother's visit.

"Grandma."

As Cecily approached, the elderly lady was chatting with Elysia who seemed to have said something amusing, making the old lady's face light up with laughter.

Upon seeing Cecily, the grandmother's face immediately showed a loving smile. "Cecily."

"Cecily," Elysia also greeted Cecily warmly.

Cecily didn't acknowledge Elysia and walked straight to the elderly lady's side. "Grandma, what brings you here?" she inquired.

The grandmother feigned displeasure and tapped Cecily's hand lightly. "You don't come to visit me, and now I can't visit you?"

"It's not like that, Grandma. I didn't mean it that way," Cecily explained.

The grandmother's eyes brimmed with affection. "I know, dear. You're just busy with work. If it wasn't for Elysia telling me, I wouldn't have known how impressive our little Cecily has become, managing to run a company all on her own."

Cecily offered a slight, warm smile and glanced at Elysia.

Elysia raised her eyebrows and gave Cecily a teasing smile. "Cecily, we had some unpleasantness a few days ago. I want to apologize. Today, Grandma and I came especially to take you home for dinner."

Cecily's eyes grew colder. "Save the fake niceties."

Elysia blinked her innocent eyes. "I am genuinely sorry."

Her grandmother chimed in, "Cecily, don't be mad. Elysia told me everything that happened, and I've already scolded her. She knows she was wrong. Don't be like her. It's been a while since you've spent time with me. Come have dinner with me tonight."

"Right, Cecily. Grandma has missed you so much, she came personally, despite the trouble walking, to take you back. You can't really say no," Elysia said, with a friendly smile towards Cecily.

"Please, Cecily," the grandmother said, looking at her with anticipation.

The grandmother coming personally to take her from the office was difficult to refuse, but Cecily knew that Elysia's newfound warmth wasn't without reason—Elysia might be plotting something.
