Chapter 529 Bryan, Please Save Cecily
Despite being unable to see, Eliza could sense a sudden surge in temperature enveloping her.
Fire!
Unfortunately, she couldn't find the exit and didn't know where it was safe.
For a moment, Eliza even wanted to die. She had endured and pretended to be crazy for so long, only to be burned to death by a madwoman who mistook her for Cecily. It was too ridiculous.
How could she accept this?
Freya laughed maniacally, looking at Eliza, who was lying on the floor helplessly. She walked over and yanked Eliza's hair. "Cecily, you're in my grasp at last."
Freya looked at the person she was holding, and the words got stuck in her throat.
No, the person's eyes seemed blind. She seemed to be a blind woman.
With the fire blazing, Freya tightly grabbed Eliza's collar and squinted her eyes. "You're not Cecily?"
Eliza let out a silent scream. Freya ripped the gag out of Eliza's mouth, and Eliza shouted, "I'm not Cecily. I'm Eliza! You lunatic. Let me go!"
Freya trembled, feeling a bit suffocated. Thick smoke was rising around them, and Freya didn't even dare to breathe deeply. She stood there, stunned, staring at the familiar yet strange face.
It was Eliza?
Not Cecily?
It was Eliza? A woman who had plastic surgery to look exactly like Cecily. Freya hadn't interacted much with Eliza, but she had seen her at the Bennett Manor party in Detroit. Eliza's face indeed looked exactly like Cecily's due to the surgery.
Freya felt even more suffocated. She stood there, unable to accept it, just staring unblinkingly at the face in front of her.
How could Cecily become Eliza?
The nurse told her that Cecily had been discharged and gone home. Why had Cecily at home turned into Eliza?
The raging fire continued to burn, and the thick smoke made it hard to keep their eyes open. Eliza was already coughing uncontrollably.
Freya clung tightly to Eliza's collar.
She couldn't accept this.
She had planned everything so well, thinking she was about to win. How did it suddenly turn out like this? She couldn't accept it.
"It was supposed to be Cecily. Why did it become you? Why? Did you all conspire to deceive me?" Freya roared at Eliza.
Despite being unaware of the specifics regarding what had transpired between Freya and Cecily, Eliza swiftly assessed the overall situation.
After coughing a few times, Eliza gritted her teeth and said, "You thought I conspired with them to deceive you? How would I conspired with them to deceive you into setting a fire to kill me? I've never seen someone as stupid as you. You've caused such a commotion, and no one in this house has shown up. Haven't you considered whether there are other people here? Think about it. If it wasn't for someone deliberately letting you in, with your brain and abilities, could you have entered someone else's house so smoothly to commit arson and murder? I was brought here tied up, and you were set up. Your every move has been watched. Only you thought you were winning!"
Eliza cruelly tore apart the truth that Freya vaguely sensed but was unwilling to admit.
Freya couldn't believe it. How did it turn out like this?
She had sneaked out, and the plan was made on the spot. No one else knew about it. How could she have been set up in advance?
Freya couldn't figure it out, but at this moment, she had to admit that Eliza was right because besides the two of them, there was no one else in this villa!
Cecily wasn't here, and Vivienne wasn't here! Not even a servant!
As Freya gazed upon the fire rapidly spreading around her, she completely broke down.
The flames had already spread to the living room, and the burning fire around them was like a giant beast, ready to devour them completely.
The temperature around them kept rising, and smoke filled the air. Freya looked at the scene, her legs giving out, and she collapsed to the floor, laughing.
She had lost completely.
She had thought she was lucky and could successfully kill Cecily.
But it turned out it was a tragic joke on her.
"Well done, Cecily and Vivienne. You both set me up, didn't you?"
She laughed while realizing everything. She must have been stared since she escaped from Bryan. Even the nurse telling her that Cecily had been discharged was part of the plan.
Cecily had never been discharged.
Vivienne deliberately left the paternity test there because she knew Freya was afraid of it. Vivienne anticipated that Freya wouldn't do anything but wait, so she orchestrated everything.
And Freya naively walked into Vivienne's trap, thinking she was capable and lucky.
She wondered how she could escape so easily from under Bryan's bodyguards' noses. It turned out Vivienne had already let her escape.
"They all set me up." Freya laughed maniacally, lying on the floor. "They all set me up."
Eliza, hearing Freya's hysterical laughter, was almost driven mad with anxiety. The black smoke around them was getting thicker, and the temperature was rising. If they didn't get out soon, they would either burn to death or suffocate.
She didn't want to die.
"What are you still doing here? If you don't run now, it'll be too late. Oh, right, you hate Cecily. Well done, you're really sticking it to her by dying, aren't you?" Eliza shouted in Freya's direction, hoping her words would snap Freya out of it.
Because she couldn't see, she needed Freya to lead her out.
"Do you want to kill Cecily? I can help you. I can help you! Let's get out of here together. Let's team up, okay? Let's get out first, and then we can think of another plan. Please, if we wait any longer, it'll be too late."
Eliza struggled to get up, groping around, only to be burned by the scorching flames. She quickly withdrew her hand in pain while Freya remained in the same position on the ground, seemingly having given up.
Eliza didn't want to die. She had fought so hard to survive, not to die like this.
"Help! Help! Is anyone there? "
Eliza's cries only resulted in her inhaling more smoke. The villa was already remote. By the time anyone found them, they would have been reduced to ashes.
Finally, in her desperation, Eliza found Freya. She pounded on Freya with all her might, "Did you hear me?Get up! You think this solves anything? You're wrong!Didn't you just say Cecily is stealing your father? If you die, your father will be Cecily's alone. Are you willing to accept that?"
Something in Freya's eyes flickered at Eliza's words.
Cecily was stealing her father.
Yes, if she died like this, Bryan would be Cecily's father alone.
They would live happily together, while she would be burned beyond recognition, forgotten by everyone.
No, she couldn't accept that.
Cecily was still fine. Why should she die?
Freya got up from the ground, but the fire was growing, and all she could see was blazing flames.
Freya anxiously raised her arm to cover her mouth and nose, the thick smoke making it hard to see the way ahead.
"Find the exit quickly, or we'll both die here." Eliza clung tightly to Freya's clothes, urging her on.
At that moment, Freya saw the door. She tried to rush over but was forced back by the flames.
The burning curtains fell, almost covering Freya. She screamed and shrank back in terror.
Eliza was panick, feeling the person beside her constantly retreating. She thought she must be crazy to entrust her life to Freya.
"Help! I don't want to die! Is anyone there?"
Meanwhile, at Bryan's place, Sam immediately informed him of the latest news, "Mr. Whitaker, the Bennett Manor is on fire."
Bryan's heart skipped a beat.
The thing he feared most had happened.
He floored the gas pedal, but it still didn't feel fast enough.
At the villa entrance, the fire was raging, and thick smoke billowed out. The people at the door could faintly hear cries for help from inside.
Vivienne was being held back by several servants, preventing her from rushing in. She shouted anxiously, "Quick! Cecily is still inside! Go save her."
"Ms. Bennett, the fire is too intense. We can't get in," Desmond said anxiously.
"What about Cecily?" Vivienne tried to rush in again, but the servants held her back firmly.
"Ms. Bennett, the fire is too dangerous. You can't go in."
Vivienne seemed to hear nothing.
"Let me go! My daughter is still inside! Let me save Cecily!"
