Chapter 416 Leave No One Alive
"Don't court death. Get lost." The assassin stepped forward, grabbed Griffin by the collar, and was about to toss him aside.
"Let me go!" Griffin struggled, kicking his legs.
Seeing this, Cecily gritted her teeth, mustered all her strength, and rushed forward, yanking Griffin from the assassin's grip.
"Listen to me, get to the car now. I can handle this."
Cecily was terrified of scaring Rowan and Griffin. This scene would leave too many psychological scars on the kids.
"What are you waiting for? Get these two out of here!" the leader barked impatiently.
Rowan and Griffin clung tightly to Cecily, refusing to let go.
Maybe Rowan and Griffin realized these people were only after Cecily and wouldn't harm them. They were stalling, hoping someone would come to their rescue soon.
"Wait."
Cecily shouted, stopping the assassin in his tracks.
"Any last words?"
"You're from the Shadow Strike Syndicate!"
Hearing Cecily's confident tone, the approaching assassins paused.
Being exposed during a mission was a major taboo, with consequences ranging from organizational punishment to potential death. They were always very cautious.
But Cecily recognized them instantly.
The lead assassin squinted. "How did you recognize us?"
Cecily pointed to the dagger on the ground, where the handle had an inconspicuous engraving.
Shadow Strike Syndicate, Quentin's men.
Having dealt with Quentin before, Cecily knew his people always had specific markings on their weapons.
The leader's eyes filled with even more killing intent. "Since you've recognized us, you have even less chance of surviving!"
"Shadow Strike Syndicate, Quentin, call him and ask if he knows Blaise."
"You know Blaise?" The assassin became even more cautious.
"Yes, I not only know him, but I also know that you're both part of assassin organizations. You've taken a contract to kill me. If I die, Blaise will easily trace it back to you.“
‘Since you know my name, you should also know that I'm from the Bennett family and the mother of Darian's child. If I die for no reason, they will never let it go. At that point, your Shadow Strike Syndicate will become a target.”
“Don't expect to get away with it. You know what kind of person Blaise is, you've heard of the Bennett family, and you should be well aware of who Darian is."
The lead assassin showed some hesitation in his eyes.
After thinking for a couple of seconds, he raised his hand, and those still fighting with Gary immediately stopped.
Gary quickly ran towards Cecily. "Cecily, are you okay?"
Cecily shook her head, pushed the two children towards Gary, and looked firmly at the lead assassin. "I know you're smart . I have two choices here. First, give me your account number, and I'll pay you double to leave, and this matter ends here. We won't pursue it further.”
“The other choice is to kill me. If I die, you and everyone in the Shadow Strike Syndicate will be buried with me."
Cecily clenched her fists, looking at them. To say she wasn't afraid would be a lie, but she couldn't show any fear now.
The lead assassin didn't speak immediately, and the assassins behind him looked at each other.
Clearly, they didn't fully believe her words.
The lead assassin stared at Cecily fiercely. "You've already recognized us. If we let you go and you come back for revenge, we're done for."
"It's just a sparring match, nothing more. No talk of revenge."
Cecily was trying to downplay tonight's events. With no casualties, there'd be no grudges, no revenge.
She'd laid all her cards on the table. If they were smart, they wouldn't make a move.
A tense silence followed.
Cecily stood tall, speaking firmly, as if unafraid. But only she knew how nervous she was, her heartbeat pounding in her ears.
She was gambling with her words.
If she won, everyone would be safe. If she not, Rowan and Griffin would be in danger too.
But she had no other options now.
Some assassins were already showing signs of retreat. They were indifferent to their own lives, having long put life and death aside in their line of work. However, if they brought trouble to the organization, the organization wouldn't spare their families.
"Maybe we should go back and ask Quentin first. She knows Blaise. If we kill her and it gets traced back to us, the whole organization will be in trouble. Even if we return, we're dead. My wife is about to give birth. I don't mind dying, but I don't want to drag her down."
Everyone understood that a win-win situation was better than mutual destruction.
The lead assassin thought for a few seconds.
Cecily watched him closely, not daring to relax.
Finally, after a suffocating wait, he waved his hand, signaling his men to lower their weapons.
"Miss Watson, we don't need your money, just your word. Otherwise, we won't spare you."
Cecily released her sweaty palms and nodded. "I have children and a family. I want to live peacefully without endless revenge."
"Miss Watson, please keep your word." The lead assassin waved. "Retreat."
Seeing them leave, Cecily finally breathed a sigh of relief, looking down to comfort Rowan and Griffin, "It's okay."
"What's going on?" Freya and Jennifer were dumbfounded.
They couldn't hear what was being said from the car, but they saw the assassins retreating.
Cecily was fine, and they just left.
'What happened? What did Cecily say to them?'
Just as they were puzzled, a gunshot rang out from somewhere.
Freya and Jennifer instinctively ducked, covering their heads.
Cecily quickly turned around, looking at the person who had fallen in front of her, her pupils dilating in shock.
"Loren!"
The lead assassin looked painfully at Loren, who had fallen beside him. "Loren! Loren!"
Cecily was stunned. The one who had just been shot in the back was Loren, the assassin who had said his wife was about to give birth.
At this moment, Loren lay in the lead assassin's arms, blood gushing from his mouth, clutching his arm with his last bit of strength. "Help, help me take care of my wife and child..."
Before he could finish, Loren died.
Cecily quickly looked into the darkness.
Who fired the shot?
Suddenly, Gary yanked Cecily's arm, and a dagger flew straight towards her chest. Fortunately, Gary reacted in time.
Cecily looked at the assassin who had attacked her, knowing in her heart.
'It's over!'
But she still wanted to explain, "The shooter isn't one of us."
"You really don't want to keep your word. First, you sweet-talk us into lowering our weapons, then you plan to wipe us out. You have a truly vicious mind."
Their anger was completely ignited, and they no longer believed Cecily's words.
The lead assassin waved his hand, his eyes full of killing intent.
"Leave no one alive."
