Chapter 476 Testing Darian

Josep glanced at Cecily, then walked into the ward.

Cecily looked at Darian, who now saw her as a stranger, and felt a lump in her throat.

Everything had changed.

Owen's death, Sandra's disappearance, Darian's amnesia—it had all happened within hours. It was all going too smoothly, just as Josep planned, which made Cecily uneasy.

She took a deep breath.

'If only this were all fake,' she thought.

In the ward, Darian's usually sharp eyes were on Josep. "Why am I here? And what's with the head injury?"

Josep squinted and sat down. "You don't remember anything?"

Darian frowned, frustrated by his memory loss.

Josep sighed, looking concerned. "It's okay. The doctor said your amnesia is temporary. Rest up, and you'll recover."

Josep watched Darian closely for any reaction.

But Darian's face showed only coldness and irritation.

"Rest well. Don't go to the company for now," Josep said, standing up.

Darian replied coldly, "Get Larkin back and keep random people out."

By "random people," he meant Cecily.

Josep raised an eyebrow. "You really don't remember her?"

Darian's voice was icy. "Why should I? Is she important?"

Josep recalled Darian's cold and disgusted look at Cecily when he woke up. It didn't seem fake.

If Darian hadn't lost his memory, he wouldn't have been indifferent when Cecily had almost fallen.

Josep pondered but still doubted Darian's amnesia.

"She's not important, she's just a clingy woman. A gatekeeper's mistake let her in. Rest well."

Josep walked out.

Mark stepped forward.

Josep glanced back at the ward. "Think he's faking it?"

Mark thought for a moment. "Doesn't seem like it. Plus, he ate the food, and the medicine should've worked. I don't think it's fake."

Josep shook his head coldly.

Darian wasn't easy to fool; it couldn't be this simple.

He needed to test Darian carefully.

"Should we assign more people to watch him?" Mark asked.

"No, too many would make him suspicious. Just get a couple of smart ones to watch him secretly."

Suddenly, Josep's phone rang urgently.

"Go ahead," he said, answering. "Sawyer, what's up?"

"Josep, you need to come back quickly. Owen might have given all his shares to Cecily!"

"What?" Josep's eyes widened.

Owen had given all his shares to Cecily?

So, he wanted to hand the company entirely to Darian.

'Dad, is this your idea of fairness? What a joke!' Josep thought.

His knuckles cracked as he clenched his fists.

"I'll be back right away."

Cecily, lost in thought, forgot to press the elevator button and ended up on the first floor. Realizing her mistake, she turned to head back when a voice called out to her.

"Cecily."

She turned to see Bryan and Freya. Freya looked ready to be discharged.

"Why are you at the hospital? Are you or your mom sick?" Bryan asked, looking worried.

"We're fine," Cecily replied curtly, not wanting to chat.

Bryan stepped closer. "Your mom had severe depression before. She needs her medication on time."

Cecily turned back. "Bryan, my mom was depressed because you imprisoned her. Now that she's with me, she's stable. If you want her to stay well, stay away."

Cecily got back into the elevator without waiting for a response.

Bryan looked down, feeling gloomy.

Freya stepped forward. "Dad, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Let's go. I'll send you back to Riverview tomorrow."

Freya wasn't happy. How could she get her revenge if she went back to Riverview? She had been playing the obedient daughter to avoid Bryan's displeasure, fearing Cecily might be his biological daughter.

She couldn't go back. She needed to stay and become Mrs. Fitzgerald, crushing Cecily beneath her feet.

"Dad, are you coming back with me?"

"I'll have Sam take you back," Bryan said, meaning he would stay because Vivienne was here.

"Can I stay a bit longer? There are too many memories of Mom at Riverview. Thinking about being there alone makes me feel so lonely," Freya said, tears falling down her face.

Bryan, seeing her distress, worried she might fall into depression like Vivienne. After a moment, he nodded. "Alright, you can stay a bit longer. Take this time to relax."

Freya wiped her tears. "Thank you, Dad."

"Let's go."

Josep exited the elevator and saw Bryan and Freya. He had almost forgotten about Freya. An idea to test Darian came to him.

He quickly walked out, calling Aurelia. "Find some time in the next couple of days to meet with Freya."

"Why, Dad?"

"Just do it. That's it."

In Darian's ward, he threw off the covers and got up, grabbing his phone.

He dialed a number, and Larkin quickly answered.

"Boss."

"Have you found my mom yet?"
