Chapter 668 Fighting to the Death for the Family Inheritance

"If you're gonna apologize, just do it, but make sure who you're on behalf of," Cecily said, her voice icy.

Giselle bit her lip, her eyes narrowing. "Do you really think what you did today was right? Firing all the higher-ups over something so small, you think that's fair?"

She brought the conversation back to the main issue.

Cecily found it ridiculous. "You still think this is a small thing? You didn't hear a word I said."

The fact that the company's senior management skipped the meeting was a big deal.

Giselle's face stayed serious. "But that shouldn't lead to dismissal, it's an overreaction."

Cecily turned to the others, "First off, I misunderstood everyone, and I'm sorry for that. But I don't think this is a small matter. What do you all think?"

Several senior execs nodded in agreement.

Cecily wasn't wrong. The company had rules. If the senior management could just skip meetings without any consequences, what would the employees think? The rules would be a joke.

Everyone agreed with Cecily. They also knew today's mess was mostly because of Hunter and Keaen, and they were mainly to blame.

But no one said anything more. A few people already had friendly looks and said, "It was all a misunderstanding, just a misunderstanding."

"Yeah, exactly. Let's not argue. It was just a misunderstanding, and it's sorted now."

Cecily continued, "Sorry for any trouble caused. I'll treat everyone to dinner tonight to make up for it."

With Cecily's offer, everyone became more polite and started exchanging pleasantries.

Cecily didn't want to keep harping on Hunter and Keaen's mistakes. After all, their issues were basically family matters, and making a scene in front of others would just embarrass her.

Plus, they were elders. If she kept embarrassing them, it wouldn't be right.

No one brought it up again, and it was considered resolved.

But now everyone understood Cecily's temperament and knew she wasn't someone to mess with. From then on, no one dared to underestimate her.

The meeting went on.

Cecily mainly wanted to formally meet everyone today.

The overall vibe of the meeting was still pretty good, except for Hunter, Keaen, and Giselle, who sat there looking stern.

But with Cecily's earlier words about following the rules, the three didn't dare to leave, no matter how mad they were. Otherwise, they'd be breaking the rules, contradicting their claim of being rule-abiding.

Vivienne sat in front of the monitor, watching everything that happened in the conference room, a slight smile on her lips.

She knew Cecily would handle it.

In the end, she didn't overly embarrass Hunter and Keaen, and Vivienne nodded in satisfaction.

The doctor beside her also watched the whole thing. Seeing Cecily not only resolve the issue but also make everyone sit through the meeting, he was momentarily stunned.

He said, "Miss Watson's methods are impressive. She made it clear to everyone what her temperament is like. From now on, no one in the company will dare to underestimate her."

This was something Cecily earned on her own, not because she was Vivienne's daughter.

Vivienne nodded, a hint of pride in her eyes. "She did well."

"You can rest easy handing the company over to her," the doctor said, pleased for Vivienne.

But Vivienne's smile faded, her eyes dimming as she stared at the screen. She murmured softly, "But the company isn't what she wants."

Desmond told her yesterday that even though Cecily went to the company, she wasn't happy and seemed distracted, clearly not focused on the business.

She was just doing her duty as Vivienne's only daughter.

How could Vivienne not know what Cecily really wanted?

Cecily didn't care about the company or anything Vivienne left for her. She just wanted Vivienne to stay by her side and for the family to be happy and safe.

Vivienne's hands trembled slightly on her lap.

Even Desmond asked her yesterday if it was right to keep everything from Cecily, if it was too cruel to her.

Desmond also suggested that she might try letting Cecily know.

But what could she do? Maybe she was too heartless and selfish, but she couldn't bear to let Cecily see her like this. She didn't have the courage to face Cecily again, nor could she bear to see her sad.

Vivienne sighed deeply. Just as she was about to stand up from her chair, she was engulfed in darkness and fell back into the chair.

The doctor beside her quickly reached out to support her. "Madam."

Vivienne raised her hand, indicating she was fine. She closed her eyes for a moment, and her body gradually recovered.

When she opened her eyes, there was a hint of despair in them.

The meeting ended, and people gradually left.

Cecily glanced at the three still staring at her, her face expressionless.

The three stood up from their chairs. No matter how well they could pretend, they had just been embarrassed in front of everyone and couldn't put on a good face now.

"I underestimated you," Hunter said, glaring at Cecily, anger in his eyes.

Cecily didn't argue with Hunter, her tone still calm. "I have no desire to oppose you, but if you keep making things difficult for me, I will fight back. As long as no one minds the embarrassment."

Hunter and Keaen's faces were grim. Staring at Cecily, they were angry but couldn't find the words to say.

Keaen glared at Cecily. "I heard you were doing well at Silver Frost Capital with Darian. Why did you come to the company to stir up trouble? Are you tired of living a peaceful life?"

Cecily said, "It was you who first took a dislike to me and resorted to scheming. That's why I chose to contend with you. Who doesn't wish to live in peace and harmony?"

Cecily found it amusing. Who enjoyed constant conflict? Was it fun?

She didn't want to. Having seen the Fitzgerald family's brutal conflicts over a mere inheritance and status, Cecily was even more reluctant to fight.

She was scared, truly scared.

She didn't have a great ambition to inherit the company. But as Vivienne's only daughter, some things she couldn't shirk.

Keaen snorted coldly. "We've been in the company for so many years, and you come back and want to inherit it right away. If you were us, could you tolerate it?"

Cecily didn't know who spread the rumor that she came to the company to become the heir.

Because of this, they were so anxious, wanting to drive her out immediately.

Cecily said, "I told you I didn't come back to be the heir. You just don't believe me."

Keaen sneered, recalling what Giselle had told him. Hearing Cecily's words now, he found it laughable. Clearly, she wanted the heir's position but wouldn't admit it, trying to make them lower their guard.

Keaen sneered, "Believe you? Ridiculous."

Cecily smiled bitterly. Everyone thought she had this ambition, but she never did. Besides, she was quite wealthy. The assets Darian transferred to her were enough for her to live lavishly for several lifetimes. She had no need to fight for more.
