Chapter 539 Percy Was Scared out of His Wits
Percy choked, his face looking rather unpleasant.
Karen, feeling that such remarks were inappropriate to make in front of the children, couldn't help but interject, "What do you do when you say this in front of your kids?"
Percy, feeling annoyed, feigned an apology. "As an apology, how about I invite you all to my house?"
Griffin and Rowan exchanged secret glances.
"Sure." Griffin raised his cute little face. "Can Maya come with us?"
"Is Maya your good friend? Of course, she can."
A sly smile appeared on Griffin's face. "Maya, come here."
The person holding Maya released the leash from her neck and removed her muzzle. In the next second, Maya dashed over.
"Maya, say hello to this gentleman," Griffin commanded, and Maya unhesitatingly raised her front paws and pounced on Percy.
Percy didn't even have time to react, falling to the ground in fright as Maya's front paws pressed directly onto his chest, pinning him down.
The large dog opened her mouth wide, barking loudly. Percy's eyes widened, and he screamed in terror.
"Help!" Karen screamed in horror, " Cecily, is this your dog? Get it off him!"
Cecily, looking anxious, pretended to pull Maya away, but after taking a couple of steps, she stumbled and fell to the ground.
"Oh no."
"Cecily, what's wrong?" Karen stood there watching Cecily fall, even more flustered and at a loss.
"I think I opened my wound. It hurts so much," Cecily clutched her abdomen, her face full of pain.
"What? Opened your wound? What do we do?" Karen panicked. "How could you open your wound at a time like this? What about Percy? Rowan, Griffin, get your dog off him!"
Griffin stood by, anxiously shouting, "What do we do? Why was Maya disobedient?"
Rowan furrowed his brows, looking worried. "Griffin, what if Maya doesn't stop? Maya can bite, and you know that. One bite could break bones."
"What? What do we do? Maya, don't bite this gentleman's head off."
Griffin and Rowan babbled. Percy, hearing that the dog could break bones, felt his scalp was tingling, and his screams became even louder.
"Does anyone get this mad dog off me, get it off!"
Karen was about to faint from fright.
Percy was crushed by the dog, Cecily was unable to move when she fell to the ground. Rowan and Griffin were yelling at Rowan and Griffin who were not helping.
It was chaos.
Fortunately, someone arrived at this moment. Griffin quickly shouted at Maya, "Maya, stop."
Maya immediately got off Percy, barked, and ran back to sit obediently by Griffin's side.
Karen snapped out of it and quickly ran to Percy. "Percy? Are you okay?"
Percy felt a wetness in his crotch, his pale face turning red in an instant.
Karen thought Percy was scared silly and quickly checked him for any bite wounds.
After a thorough check, Karen breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness, it didn't bite you. Percy, get up."
Percy didn't move, just sitting there.
Griffin snorted lightly.
Maya was like a beautiful little princess, not something that would bite just anything dirty.
Seeing Cecily lying on the side, Rowan and Griffin immediately ran to her. "Mommy, are you okay?"
Cecily blinked at Rowan and Griffin. "I opened my wound. It hurts."
Rowan and Griffin immediately understood that Cecily hadn't really opened her wound; she was just pretending to avoid stopping the dog.
Cecily looked at Percy with concern. "Uncle Percy, are you okay?"
The considerate Griffin ran over, looking at Percy with innocent eyes, "Grandpa Lockwood, are you okay? Maya just wanted to say hello. She didn't mean any harm. Please don't blame her, okay?"
Percy's face looked grim.
He felt that his lifelong reputation was about to be ruined today.
Karen noticed a wet spot on the ground, her eyes widening in shock, then looked at Percy with some disdain.
However, Percy was still her husband, so Karen tried to preserve his last bit of dignity by trying to send Griffin away, "Griffin, go check on your mommy. She just opened her wound. See if it's serious."
Griffin exclaimed in surprise, "Grandpa Lockwood, did you wet your pants?"
"Grandpa Lockwood, how could you still wet your pants at your age?"
Percy, consumed by anger and embarrassment, felt his last trace of dignity slip away. He clenched his legs together, overwhelmed with frustration, and found himself unable to form a coherent sentence.
Griffin patted Percy on the shoulder considerately. "Grandpa Lockwood, don't be embarrassed. I stopped wetting my pants when I was one. Even though you're old, I would never laugh at you. Right, Rowan?"
"Yeah."
Rowan and Griffin grinned, showing their white teeth.
"You...."
Percy rolled his eyes and fainted from anger.
After the chaos, Percy was eventually carried away by people Karen had called over, and Karen also had someone take Cecily back to her hospital room.
Maya was praised by Rowan and Griffin and rewarded with lots of treats. At this moment, she was holding her fluffy head high, looking very proud as if she had won a battle.
Since Maya couldn't be brought into the hospital room, Griffin had someone take her back first.
In the ward, Rowan and Griffin were overjoyed.
Cecily leaned against the bed, watching them laugh so happily, a smile gradually appearing on her face.
When Darian arrived, he heard the laughter coming from the hospital room at the door.
He quietly pushed the door open, and his gaze fell on them. Cecily was lying on the hospital bed, propping her head up, her beautiful face full of gentle smiles as she watched the two children.
Rowan and Griffin were animatedly telling a story, gesturing wildly, making Cecily smile uncontrollably.
Darian didn't dare to breathe, afraid of breaking this beautiful scene.
He couldn't recall how long it had been since he last saw Cecily smile so naturally and relaxed.
Cecily noticed the movement at the door and looked over, immediately meeting Darian's eyes.
"You're here."
Darian's eyes were instantly filled with warmth.
"Daddy."
Rowan and Griffin were in such a good mood that their voices were even more cheerful.
Darian walked over to the three of them. "What made you all so happy?"
Griffin earnestly described the scene to Darian. As Darian listened, a smiled graced his face. "It's a shame you didn't take a picture."
"You want to see it too?" Cecily looked at Darian with amusement.
"It's quite interesting, isn't it?" Darian leaned in and kissed Cecily's lips.
Cecily quickly dodged. "The kids are still here. What are you doing?"
Darian smiled and looked back at Rowan and Griffin, who were hurriedly covering their eyes.
Rowan and Griffin giggled. "We can't see anything."
Darian turned back to Cecily and held her in his arms, "I'm glad to see you happier today."
Due to their lingering fear and anxiety, Percy and Karen didn't come to the hospital for two days. Evander still came every day, obviously under Percy's orders.
That day, Evander happened to ask when Cecily would be discharged.
"Tomorrow," Cecily replied.
She was supposed to stay a bit longer, but Bryan had been practically sleeping at her ward door. Cecily had chased him away countless times, but Bryan still came every day.
Cecily also mentioned this to Vivienne, and to her surprise, Vivienne advised her to try to forgive Bryan.
Cecily couldn't believe these words came from Vivienne.
She hated Bryan even more than Cecily did, yet now she was advising her to forgive him.
As Evander gazed at Cecily, he opened his mouth but hesitated to speak. Noticing his hesitation, Cecily asked, "Do you have something to say to me?"
Evander sighed. "If I propose to you tomorrow, will you say yes?"
Cecily raised an eyebrow slightly, clearly not surprised. "Percy is making a plan, isn't he?"
"Yes."
Cecily propped her chin up, looking at Evander, "What if I don't agree?"
"He has ways to force you to agree." Evander looked deeply at Cecily, feeling helpless and powerless.
This statement made Cecily a bit unsettled.
Rowan and Griffin are her Achilles' heel. Cecily didn't know what Percy's methods were, but she had already sent the children back to Vivienne's place a few days ago.
The children were safe now, so Cecily had no worries.
Moreover, Cecily thought Percy wouldn't want to completely fall out with her, so he wouldn't harm the children.
After thinking it through, Cecily felt at ease.
Evander only told Cecily this because he only knew that Percy wanted him to propose on the day Cecily was discharged, but he didn't know the specific methods.
After sending Evander away, Cecily leaned against the hospital bed, thinking for a long time.
It sounded like they were in for a bumpy ride tomorrow. With such a public display, wasn't Percy afraid of affecting Evander's career? After all, Evander was a celebrity with a good reputation and no scandals. Now, a grand proposal, and the target was her, a divorced woman with two kids. His fans would definitely have opinions.
Thinking carefully, Cecily seemed to guess what Evander meant by "methods."
